I apologize for the delay in my reply. However, the results I am about to share are encouraging. In my timeline, your mother and another version of you have already deviated from the predetermined tragic future.
General Ambessa will soon return to Noxus and reclaim everything with my help. Under my arrangement, Ms. Mel has been assigned dedicated caretakers to ensure no accidents occur. In other words, the terrible past you experienced will not be repeated in their lives.
As for Elyora, she is currently enjoying a long vacation, equipped with a rune amulet and under the care of dedicated personnel, so her safety is assured. Although the Black Rose still lurks in the shadows, I have arranged everything. You need not worry about them repeating your fate.
However, based on my understanding of the Black Rose, they will not give up easily. Moreover, since you plan to take revenge on them, you will undoubtedly face various crises along the way. As your benefactor, I cannot stand by while my investors face danger and suffering. I have compiled the intelligence I possess on the Black Rose and included it in the attachment; I hope it will be helpful to you.
Finally, I wish you all the best, and may your martial endeavors flourish.
After finishing the letter, Link double-checked it before sending it off.
"Another timeline's Mel's commission is concluded here; now we just wait for her to send new sponsorship."
Link sat back in his chair, interlocking his fingers and stretching above his head while letting out a deep yawn. Listening to the cracking sounds of his bones, he felt a wave of genuine drowsiness wash over him.
Since crossing over, he hadn't had a moment's rest; he was either working or on his way to work. He had never taken a proper break.
Now that Mel and Saro were handling the council in Piltover, and Ekko was calming Zaun's chaos, Jinx should be lying low somewhere. Vi and Caitlyn were still busy running around the city; Link had specifically asked Mel to assign Caitlyn a mountain of tasks. Caitlyn would be preoccupied with these matters and wouldn't focus on Zaun for now. As for Vi, she would also be following Caitlyn around due to this distraction.
Regarding Viktor—Link wasn't ready to meet him yet. Although Viktor was currently filled with goodwill and divinity as a pioneer, it was best not to disturb him until he had more certainty.
As for Jayce—the departure of his partner and setbacks in his career had already left him in despair. As long as no one disturbed him, he would stay quietly in his lab without causing trouble elsewhere.
That said, unexpected variables must still be considered. The wild runes at the bottom of Hextech's portal needed to be resolved as soon as possible. The other timeline's Mel had already verified that attachments could contain magic; thus, wild runes should pose no issue either.
Once those wild runes were dealt with—removing this major plot variable—the remaining task would be rebuilding Twin Cities.
Link opened the first email he received upon crossing over. Looking at the message from the nameless one, he sighed: "Soon, very soon, I will fulfill our agreement."
"However—" Link yawned again. "I need to rest for a couple of days to properly relax my mind."
As he spoke to himself about closing the dimensional mailbox, suddenly, it shook three times in quick succession, startling him awake.
"Did Mel's reply come back so quickly? No, wait—there's new mail!"
Link hadn't forgotten that he had cast a wide net initially. He had sent out ten emails at first—from the nameless one to that narcissistic little blonde nuisance, Cassandra Ghirahim, who lost her daughter, Singed LeBlanc seeking redemption, and future Mel from the original storyline.
Half of those emails had already received replies, while five remained unanswered. Perhaps this time, there would be new responses.
Eagerly opening the first message:
[Oh my god! Are you three years old?
"Guess whose parallel counterpart is about to have bad luck," do you think using an imaginary person can threaten the greatest explorer of Runeterra?
Not possible!
I am unique; whether in the future or past, there is only one Ezreal!
Out of kindness for providing me with a rare afternoon joke, I'll generously forgive you once more.
If there's another time like this, I will hunt you down and kick your butt!]
Link's forehead twitched as he read this. That damned little blonde didn't understand what humility was at all! However, given that there was an endless distance between them now due to his uncontrollable situation, seeking revenge on this brat wouldn't be easy at all.
But—after thinking it over, Link's eyes suddenly lit up.
[To Runeterra's greatest "explorer," hello.
Can you guess which "arcane trickster" possesses information about Lux Crownguard—the highborn flower of House Crownguard?]
After quickly editing his reply, Link chose to send it off.
Alright! Now it was time for that little blonde nuisance to feel anxious!
Link composed himself before looking at the second letter that arrived. Just glancing at it made Link raise an eyebrow; it was Mel's reply! He hadn't expected her response to come so quickly!
[Mr. Link, I have received your reply.
Thank you for everything you've done. As agreed upon, I have placed all relevant information regarding Hextech technology in the attachment.
I hope we can keep in touch moving forward.
Mel.]
Link opened the attachment and found a mountain of documents piled up on his work desk instantly. Sucking his teeth thoughtfully, Link picked up one document at random:
"The Internal Logic of Hextech Portals."
After flipping through it briefly, Link raised another book:
"Complete Guide to Runes."
Then he switched to another one:
"Hextech Creation Research Report."
After placing that book back on the table while opening a page of letter paper, he stuffed all those Hextech-related books into it as well.
Once he finished this task, he let out a long breath of relief. Hextech technology was now within reach! All that remained was learning and practicing; mastering this extraordinary technology was merely a matter of time.
"One letter from that little blonde nuisance and another from Mel; so this last letter should be new mail."
Link focused on opening the final letter. As his mind touched it, its contents appeared before him:
[A wise and capable child should be rewarded after showing courage.]
This simple sentence left Link momentarily stunned. What did this mean? It was vague and didn't provide enough context for him to grasp its meaning fully. Even the sender hadn't used a real name but simply signed it anonymously.
However—Link noticed that an attachment was faintly glowing, which indicated there were gifts sent along with the letter.
Clicking on the attachment revealed a document along with a smooth bead. Link picked up the bead and found it made of glass; it felt warm like jade from being rubbed countless times over time.
After rubbing the bead for a moment, he picked up the document instead. Upon opening it, Link frowned at its opening line:
[The Freljord family rose to prominence after their ancestor Alicia discovered a magical ore called "Primal Crystal" in Shurima. To honor her sacrifices and contributions to their family, that generation's Freljord patriarch buried Alicia's first Primal Crystal alongside her when she passed away.]
Upon reading this part, Link felt a jolt in his heart and became parched with anxiety. He trembled as he flipped through more pages, only to find an anatomical diagram of a coffin on page two:
[Anatomical Diagram of Alicia's Coffin.]
"Gulp!" Link swallowed hard as he set down the document. He looked back at that somewhat vague letter again:
"A wise and capable child should be rewarded after showing courage..." Link pondered aloud. "So this person wants me to dig up Qiyana's grave?"
