Chapter 402: CHAPTER 402 - Duskblade of Draktharr
"Come out, you sneaky, cowardly scum!" the man roared.
"Lower your voice, you're disturbing my ears... And who do you think you are to lecture me?" Another younger voice sneered, yet it revealed its owner.
In the man's astonished view, a strong figure clad in full black and blue armor appeared, none other than Li Lin, who had recently mediated the dispute between the Winged Protectors.
After their "life-or-death parting," both Kayle and Morgana had realized each other's feelings and reconciled.
However, in Li Lin's eyes, their conflict had never been due to themselves. It stemmed from the division of the Star Spirit's power, which then extended to their differing attitudes toward humanity.
In the five-kilometer-wide pit created by a satellite beam, Li Lin had talked to them for a long time, mainly to encourage them to correct their extreme views.
But, after all, this was the influence of the Justice Star Spirit's power, and talking alone could not change anything. Those extreme "ideas" had already been deeply embedded in their souls.
For this reason, Li Lin suggested that both sisters return to the Mount Targon.
Alone, Kayle could not communicate with the Justice Star Spirit, so if the power that was originally one was restored, perhaps the Justice Star Spirit would respond to them and help them truly understand what true justice was.
Alternatively, it could allow them to connect their hearts fully and unleash the full power of the Judgment Star's blessing, making them crucial in the future battle against the Void.
Kayle and Morgana thought deeply for a long time and agreed with Li Lin's idea.
The Mount Targon was sparsely populated, and the mundane matters of humanity, as well as the sisters' differing views on humans, would not disturb them. It would be more beneficial for their cooperation there.
The two sisters flew to the Mount Targon while Li Lin had to handle the mess left behind here—a five-kilometer wide, twenty-meter deep pit.
However, this task could be left to the AI; he didn't need to waste time on it, especially after hearing about the riots in Demacia.
Upon teleporting back to Demacia, he found the King had been assassinated by an "invisible" assassin.
Because the AI had locked onto the assassin, who was in an invisible state and had been injured by Zhao Xin, Li Lin did not go directly to meet the King. Instead, he activated his optical camouflage and followed the assassin, trailing them all the way here.
Of course, there was an unexpected reward:
[Duskblade of Draktharr (Artifact): This blade is Draktharr's exclusive weapon, beloved by darkness. It can inject darkness directly into the target's heart, instilling immense fear.]
Total Attributes: 500 Health, 1000 Mana, 75 Combat Power.]**
[Ability Effects]
[Assassin's Path: Those who possess this blade inherit the legendary Assassin Draktharr's path, mastering the ways of an assassin.]
[Silent Movement: The wielder of this blade makes no sound, even when walking in water.]
[Night Stalker: At night, the wielder enters an "invisible" state, undetectable by the naked eye or normal magic (attacks will break this state).]
[Day Stalker: During the day, the wielder can consume 100 Mana per second to maintain the "Night Stalker" effect, but attacking will break it (can additionally consume 300 Mana to forcibly enter the "Invisible" state).]
[Fatal Strike: A fatal strike to non-limb parts of the target's body will kill instantly.]
[Ghost Escape: After a Fatal Strike kills a target, the wielder enters a 3-second "Ghost" state, ignoring collision with objects and becoming untouchable by physical means.]
[Dark Corruption: Consume 200 Mana to inject shadow magic into the target, inducing fear in their heart and rendering them immobile (those with strong willpower can resist).]
Draktharr was a legendary assassin from the Valoran continent, proficient in the ways of the assassin and shadow magic, known as the "Embodiment of Fear."
Few assassins in Runeterra's history have gained as much fame as he did.
Even so, the blade he used throughout his life became more legendary than Draktharr himself.
Many people spent their entire lives searching for this blade, even willing to sacrifice their lives for it.
Unfortunately, the blade had disappeared after Draktharr's death.
However, whenever rumors spread that it had resurfaced, a bloody storm would rise among assassins and even in the circles of mages secretly practicing forbidden shadow magic.
Draktharr's blade, when available at the [Essence Store], is priced at 1500 Blue Essence but lacks the effects of [Silent Movement], [Day Stalker], and [Ghost Escape].
Li Lin suspected that the one sold by the system was the "original" version of Draktharr's weapon.
The version in the real world had probably undergone many generations of inheritance and countless transfers, with new effects added by later owners through unknown means.
If he could use the system's [Enchant Equipment] feature to add these effects to his Infinite Battle Armor...
Just imagine—killing a Void creature and entering the "Ghost" state, becoming untouchable for three seconds to physical attacks... It would be ridiculously overpowered...
Of course, this effect was still just a theoretical idea for now.
Li Lin quickly collected his thoughts, his fingers gently tracing the dark red blade in his hand, while his gaze turned to the wary man in front of him.
"Interesting indeed, Jemira Moses. You managed to find the long-lost Draktharr's Blade and used it to assassinate the King? Quite a clever idea."
Jemira pretended to remain unfazed, but his rapidly shrinking pupils betrayed his thoughts.
How does he know my name?!
Could there be a traitor among us?
He certainly never expected that Li Lin had already locked onto him while being next to the king and had followed him all the way here.
"You…" Jemira sharply inhaled, the foul stench of the sewer quickly bringing him back from his shock. "You're that Li Lin?"
"Oh? I didn't expect you to recognize me."
Li Lin took a step forward, the metal of his Infinite Battle Armor making no sound as it touched the ground, and even the nano energy core, still running inside, remained silent.
It works pretty well… he thought to himself.
On the opposite side, as Li Lin took a step closer, Jemira, holding his diaphragm, stepped back further until his back was against the wall with nowhere to retreat.
Having used the Draktharr's Blade at noon, his magic power was now almost depleted. Moreover, the entire city was filled with magic-cancelling stones, and the air was nearly devoid of magic particles, leaving him with no way to replenish his energy.
Without magic, he was essentially an ordinary man, powerless, injured, and with a useless arm. How could he possibly fight against a fully armored and muscular man?
Jemira was terrified to the extreme.
He wasn't a true assassin, so he didn't have the guts to commit suicide in case of a failed mission, nor did he have a poison capsule hidden in his molars to bite down on.
What's more, the failure of his assassination was due to incorrect intelligence; the fault wasn't his. Why should he die for that?
"Tell me, who ordered you to assassinate the king?"
"I told you, will you spare me?"
Li Lin snorted coldly. "You don't have the right to negotiate."
With that, he extended a finger, and a tiny energy beam, as thin as a needle, shot from his fingertip. In the blink of an eye, it pierced Jemira's neck.
It was an energy shock dart, far superior in technology to Caitlyn's Ironblood laser sniper rifle. It wouldn't miss and risk the target's life.
With a dull thud, Jemira collapsed to the ground. Li Lin threw him over his shoulder and flew out of the sewer.
He wasn't skilled at interrogation; he had only asked a casual question earlier.
As for the actual questioning, it was something that Jarvan III could bring in experts for.
