Chapter 160: Chapter 160: The Sand Spirit

Despite his rich battlefield experience, after such a great war, Rhett needed some time to relax and calm his mind.

He held a cup of blueberry juice, standing by the open window, enjoying the cool late autumn breeze that flowed through the room.

From time to time, geese flew across the sky, accompanied by chirping birds that added a bit of vitality to the otherwise quiet atmosphere.

After standing quietly for about half an hour, Rhett finished his blueberry juice in a few gulps before slowly sitting down on the edge of the bed.

He closed his eyes and opened the system interface.

 Destiny Points: 719

Rhett had asked Taylors what name he would give his child, but Taylors insisted on waiting until he saw the child's face before deciding. As a result, Rhett could only accept that there was still a question mark next to the third-generation member.

However, seeing the results, the three days of war, combined with the number of beastmen Taylors had killed, had finally brought Rhett's destiny points close to the thousand-mark!

Rhett felt a surge of excitement but remained calm as he thought, "Even so, these destiny points might still not be enough to break through to a fifth-level Magister. It will probably take another month or so."

And so, while eagerly anticipating, the relatively peaceful month of September quickly passed.

On October 1st, Rhett remained seated cross-legged on the bed and opened the system.

"Activate Real Simulation. One day costs 1 destiny point."

"Yes."

As the familiar ripples appeared before his eyes, Rhett knew he had entered the simulation and wasted no time. He immediately began practicing the Furnace Meditation Method, chipping away at the bottleneck bit by bit.

As time passed, Rhett simulated one thousand three hundred and fifty-six times.

Finally, during the last simulation, Rhett's expression remained calm, his eyes tightly shut, but his mind was filled with a strange wave that spread rapidly, growing wild like a storm. His surging spiritual power crashed against the invisible barrier like a giant wave.

It was as if something snapped—like a thin membrane being pierced. Rhett's spiritual power broke through the final obstacle and began to expand rapidly!

Boom!

In his mind, it felt like an earthquake had struck, with violent spiritual power rushing out, leaving Rhett dizzy and unable to control the energy spilling out of his mind!

At this moment, Tuck, who was drinking water, was caught off guard as his cup was knocked over by an invisible wave of energy, spilling icy liquid over his face and into his nose.

"Pfft! Ouch!" Tuck exclaimed, shaking his head and wiping his wet face. He glanced over at Rhett in bewilderment.

Maccaf, more sensitive to the fluctuations of spiritual power than others, suddenly opened his eyes and stared at Rhett, who appeared to be in some pain. "Did you break through?" he asked in shock.

He quickly approached Rhett and patted his back with concern. "Are you okay? How do you feel?"

Rhett shook his head. Though he had felt a brief dizziness right after the breakthrough, he quickly adapted to his newfound spiritual power. Opening his eyes, he let out a soft breath and smiled. "I'm fine. I just had a breakthrough."

Upon hearing this, the three others in the room showed expressions of joy. Tuck and Rila were about to rush forward to congratulate him.

But Rhett's consciousness dove into his mind as he ended the simulation.

Before his eyes, the expressions of the three instantly froze.

The surrounding ripples gradually faded away, and a new interface appeared before Rhett.

Real Simulation Complete. Please choose one attribute to retain:

 1. Physique

 2. Battle Energy

 3. Spiritual Power

"Choose Spiritual Power!"

As soon as he made his choice, a vast surge of spiritual power poured into his mind, gently and soothingly, like a spring rain nurturing the earth.

This time, the process was entirely painless.

Rhett felt the immense power expanding several times over, filling him with a profound sense of satisfaction!

After a moment, he sighed with relief, "Finally, a fifth-level Magister. I wonder what changes this will bring to the future."

His curiosity piqued. At the Magister stage, each new level of power brought significant influence.

With even slight deviations in his actions, the trajectory of the future would inevitably change.

Rhett decided to conduct another simulation to see how the future had altered with his breakthrough.

He opened the system once more.

"Activate Text Simulation. One year costs 5 destiny points."

"Yes, simulate one year!"

Kinlund Calendar, 475th year, October 1st: You broke through to the fifth-level Magister. Congratulations!

October 3rd: Over the course of two months of war, you have killed over thirty royal bloodline beastmen, and your name is gradually gaining recognition in the beastman camps on the Gorge Defense Line.

October 17th: During a patrol, you are ambushed by a beastman unit, including ten Bloodmoon Werewolves, who relentlessly pursue you! However, you unleash your fifth-level Magister strength at the critical moment, annihilating them all, shocking everyone around you!

October 20th: News of your advancement to fifth-level Magister spreads through the camp, causing a minor stir. You are hailed as a genius.

October 23rd: During a patrol, you encounter a severely wounded scout fleeing from three third-level Phantom Venomous Snakemen. You lead your team to support them. However, two sixth-level Minotaurs ambush you, launching a ferocious attack. Unable to withstand their strength, you are disemboweled by their golden horns. With death imminent, you ask how they discovered your whereabouts. They laugh and reveal that humans, though cunning, are also selfish and prone to betrayal. With that, you die with lingering doubts.

The simulation ended there.

Rhett felt a weight settle in his heart as he finished reading the final entry.

This simulation had been surprisingly short, lasting less than a month!

Yet, the information it provided left him shocked.

The fact that word of his breakthrough had spread quickly and that many now considered him a genius was within Rhett's expectations.

What he hadn't anticipated was that an insider within the camp had leaked the information to the beastmen, leading to an assassination attempt!

The Minotaur's final words were particularly telling.

From the way it spoke, Rhett inferred that there was indeed a traitor within the Gorge Defense Line's camp.

And Rhett believed the credibility of this information was quite high—after all, what reason would they have to lie to a dying man?

After a moment of contemplation, Rhett opened his eyes and gently rubbed his forehead, deep in thought. "No matter what, I need to find a way to change this outcome. When it comes to traitors, it's better to be safe than sorry. The longer they remain hidden, the more information they can leak, leading to greater disasters."

With this realization, Rhett decided it would be best to report the situation to the commander. However, he knew it would be unwise to act rashly, so he decided to make some adjustments in the simulation first to see the potential outcomes.

With that thought in mind, he opened the system once more.

"Activate Text Simulation. One year costs 5 destiny points."

"Yes, simulate one year."

October 20th: News of your advancement to fifth-level Magister spreads through the camp, causing a minor stir. You are hailed as a genius.

October 21st: You report to Vice Commander Ambiru, claiming that the mysterious person who previously provided intel on the Nightcat forces has sent an urgent message, warning that there is a traitor within the ranks. The traitor has already leaked information about your talents to the beastmen, and they are planning an assassination attempt with two sixth-level Minotaurs. Ambiru is shocked by your report and promises to assign protection for you. If the assassination attempt confirms the presence of a traitor, he will take action to investigate.

October 23rd: During a patrol, you encounter a wounded scout fleeing from three third-level Phantom Venomous Snakemen. You lead your team to support them. When the two ambushing sixth-level Minotaurs appear, Somjet, cloaked in blue light, arrives and swiftly subdues them, capturing them for interrogation.

October 25th: Ambiru finds you, informing you that the traitor has been identified. Like Gaspar, the traitor is from the rear lines, a knight follower from the Darmy family within the Kingdom of Kin. The interrogation reveals that the traitor was lured by promises of vast training resources from a mysterious masked figure. Beyond that, no other leads were uncovered. The matter has been reported for further investigation.

That evening, a celebration is held, and you are awarded substantial honors. From Avalon, you learn that your merits are more than enough to earn you the title of Earl!

Your proposal to relocate your territory near the Darkstripes Eagle's range is approved. Additionally, considering your remarkable achievements, fifth-level Magister strength, and the undeveloped wilderness of the southwestern border, your request to divide your territory is granted—you retain control of Hatchling Town while also establishing a new domain near the Darkstripes Eagle's range.

Grand Duke Blue Diamond stays in your territory for three days and treats you with great respect. You take the opportunity to inquire about the intricacies of the Arcane Laws, and he kindly provides explanations. Before departing, he offers a marriage alliance with his granddaughter, which you politely decline, suggesting that perhaps your grandchildren could consider such a union. The Grand Duke smiles but says nothing further before leaving.

January 8th: A person with moderate knight talent is detected in your territory.

July 26th: At dawn, you arrive at Lone Peak, the Darkstripes Eagle's former nest, and discover a dozen Darkstripes Eagles circling the mountain. The alchemy master is overjoyed by the discovery and notices signs of human care nearby. After you explain, he is greatly impressed. You share your plan to establish a Darkstripes Eagle breeding ground, with Tuck's eagle as the leader, to ensure a steady supply of Darkstripes Eagles for the alchemy masters in Coldstream City, who are working on a poison for the Draconians.  September 21st: After much contemplation, you decide to travel to the Rehm Kingdom to gather more information about the Ring Tower. You depart that night.

September 27th: While traveling through the White Rat Branch of the Magic Beast Mountain Range, you come across a recently deceased, pregnant fourth-level Ice Rat.

"End the simulation."

The screen gradually faded away.

The content of this simulation was so extensive that Rhett took his time digesting all the details before finally opening his eyes.

"Ah!"

He exhaled deeply, lost in thought. "As expected, breaking through to the fifth-level Magister, advancing to Earl, and implementing some of my planned adjustments have indeed brought significant changes!"

The most immediate issue was the traitor who had leaked information to the beastmen, leading them to target him for assassination. Fortunately, reporting the matter to Ambiru successfully averted the crisis.

"Yet, the one outcome I dreaded still happened..." Rhett clenched his fists, a cold gleam in his eyes as he muttered, "A traitor... Another traitor! Why must there always be traitors among humans?"

In any organization, the greatest threat often comes from within, be it corruption or betrayal, which can drive a group to collapse...

Suppressing his anger, Rhett resolved, "Since this person has already infiltrated the southwestern border, they may have left traces behind. I'll need to be vigilant in gathering any relevant information..."

Putting that matter aside for now, Rhett reviewed the other significant changes.

To his surprise, Wodeger had agreed to join his territory in this simulation, along with two other members of the Flaming Lion Mercenary Group! This result pleased Rhett greatly—a fourth-level Earth Knight, a third-level Magician, and a third-level Knight were all valuable additions to his territory, significantly bolstering his military strength!

Although their decision might have been influenced by his breakthrough to the fifth-level Magister, showcasing his personal potential and the prospects of his territory, Rhett didn't mind.

After all, who wouldn't want to serve under a capable lord? With the simulation as a safety net, he wasn't worried about betrayal.

"But the most unexpected development in this simulation was the news of the Sand Spirit!" Rhett's heart raced with excitement as he thought about it.

Though he had never heard of the Sand Spirit before, now that the simulation had revealed its existence, he was determined to seize this opportunity and make it his own!
