First Immortal of the Sword

Chapter 1861: Reaching the Peak of Spiritual Desolation Mountain

Whoosh!

The moment the man in the feather coat looked over, Su Yi vanished into thin air.

This is bad! The man in the feather coat shot to his feet, heart shaking. A massive wheel of electric light rose from his palm, and as it revolved, a world of lightning rose into the air. A Grand Dao Hidden Realm——the Sound of Thunder Purgatory!

Practically simultaneously, Su Yi appeared out of nowhere and pressed down.

Bang!!!

The Grand Dao Hidden Realm abruptly caved in, then split. A rain of light scattered, illuminating the man in the feather coat’s face. He looked utterly horrified.

Before he could dodge, Su Yi stretched out his right hand and grabbed. Tyrannical power of the Grand Dao sealed the man in the feather coat completely. He was trapped like prey, unable to move a muscle.

And Su Yi did it all in one smooth motion, striking like lightning. It was over as soon as it began.

“Tell me: where are the other two?” said Su Yi, his gaze calm and distant.

“They’re…” The man in the feather coat hesitated, then shouted at the top of his lungs, “We’re under attack!! Hurry up and—”

Bang!!

Su Yi tightened his grip, and the man’s body and soul fell apart. A Great Martial Stage expert had died, just like that.

But Su Yi was completely casual about it, as if it were a trivial matter. He brushed off his clothes, then looked at the stone stele.

It was nine feet tall and carved from plain, blue stone. Although its surface was marred, it was otherwise intact. Wisps of chaos mist rose from its surface, dreamlike and ethereal. It looked extremely mystical.

Even from several dozen feet away, Su Yi could sense fluctuations of the power of the Grand Dao bearing down on him.

It seems that this is the Dao Manifestation Chaos Stele Lin Feng spoke of, thought Su Yi.

The Dao Manifestation Chaos Stele!

This was one of the supreme treasures of Spiritual Desolation Mountain, a natural divine object Li Fuyou had found while exploring the River of Epochs. It was imbued with the purest, most fundamental power of the Grand Dao. When you cultivated in front of the stele, you could easily slip into a wondrous state of enlightenment, grasping the fundamental mysteries of the Grand Dao of heaven and earth.

It was unbelievably, wondrously useful for divining and tempering one’s power of the Grand Dao.

When Su Yi learned of this treasure from Lin Feng ten days prior, his heart stirred. He was already a peak Immortal King. All he needed was the right opportunity to break through and enter the Great Realm. If he could cultivate before the Dao Manifestation Chaos Stele, it might well provide the opportunity he needed!

But after a single glance at this treasure, Su Yi turned and proceeded further up the mountain. He even used the Tree of All Worlds to move as quickly as possible.

……

Dense power of Annihilation formed layers of leaden gray clouds that enveloped the peak completely.

Unlike the rest of the mountain, here, the calamitous, terrifying aura was strong enough to rip Great Profound Stage experts’ bodies and souls apart effortlessly.

It was similar to the heart of the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea. No one beneath the god level would have dared enter this place without means of blocking the power of Annihilation!

Boom!

The Laws of Annihilation impeded Su Yi’s ascent, forcing him back out into the open.

If not for the Book of Karma, he wouldn’t have been able to contend with the Laws of Annihilation with his current cultivation. They were like the natural order, the will of the heavens.

Bang bang bang!

The Book of Karma shook from head to toe. It looked like it wouldn’t hold out much longer.

“Don’t tell me that Divine Venerate Tian Huang’s Laws of Annihilation are even stronger than Divine Venerate Hao Yu’s Magnetic Origin Light?” Su Yi asked in surprise.

There was a prison deep within the Magnetic Origin Ice Sea, too. The Magnetic Origin Light was a manifestation of Divine Venerate Hao Yu’s power. But the Laws of Annihilation that Divine Venerate Tian Huang had left over Spiritual Desolation Mountain were unquestionably even more terrifying!

“How could a wondrous, venerable tome like me have landed in the hands of a shameless bastard like you?

“Aiyo, the Laws of Annihilation here are the work of a Greater God! They couldn’t possibly be so powerful otherwise!

“Hey, you! Su guy! Don’t tell me you want to watch me die? Hurry up and call out Third Brother Sword!”

Resentful words arose on the Book of Karma’s pages.

Su Yi rubbed his nose awkwardly. He still couldn’t command the six-inch sword coffin, but…

He flipped his palm, and the walnut-sized Sky-Covering Boat floated into the air. Let’s see if ‘Eighth Brother Boat’ will obey me.

He circulated his cultivation base and tried to power the Sky-Covering Boat.

Boom!

Chaos energy reminiscent of starlight burst forth. With its help, the Book of Karma finally managed to stave off the onslaught of the Laws of Annihilation.

“Eighth Brother Boat, don’t make fun of me. Ultimately, that Su guy is just too weak. He cannot activate my Laws of Karma. If he could, how could the Laws of Annihilation possibly pose the slightest challenge for me?” The Book of Karma explained itself in a bid to recover its dignity, but the Sky-Covering Boat ignored it.

Actually, Su Yi suspected that of the Nine Mysteries of Chaos, only the Book of Karma could communicate, and only through text. After all, the Sword of Proximity and the Sky-Covering Boat had shown no sign of such intelligence and awareness.

“Are you in trouble?” Lin Feng’s voice emanated from the boat.

“I’m fine,” said Su Yi. “But you should be careful. I need to use the Sky-Covering Boat to contend with the onslaught of the Laws of Annihilation, and I don’t want you to get hurt.”

“Oh,” said Lin Feng, seemingly relieved. A moment later, he sank back into silence.

Su Yi furrowed his brow. The man in the feather coat was dead. That should have alerted his two companions, yet for some reason, there was no sign of them.

Something was amiss.

Without any further delays, Su Yi proceeded toward the peak.

Kaboom!

Along the way, the dense clouds of the Laws of Annihilation ran rampant, attacking relentlessly. It was a horrifying sight.

Even Su Yi had no choice but to admit that, if not for the Book of Karma and the Sky-Covering Boat, his power of reincarnation wouldn’t have been enough to block this terrifying divine power.

Ultimately, his Laws of Reincarnation could counter divine talismans and other such treasures, but his power of the Grand Dao was still just at the Immortal King level. He couldn’t contend with the divine power covering this place.

Still, Su Yi was convinced that as his cultivation increased and his grasp of reincarnation deepened, he’d be able to thoroughly suppress and restrict even Epoch Laws. This was the fundamental reason that gods forbade reincarnation.

Finally, Su Yi arrived at the peak.

It was a spacious, flat surface once covered in all manner of ancient buildings. However, the vast majority of them now lay in ruin. Only a bronze palace stood tall amidst the rubble.

The palace was covered in carvings of taboo, mystical formation diagrams. They flickered, producing a strange, wondrous resonance with the Laws of Annihilation covering the sky. It seemed as if the bronze palace were the eye of a formation capable of absorbing and directing the Laws of Annihilation.

Su Yi narrowed his eyes. There was no doubt about it. The bronze palace had been placed there by Divine Venerate Tian Huang. It wasn’t originally part of Spiritual Desolation Mountain!

In other words, the bronze palace most likely was the prison where the Divine Venerate’s dogs were held!

Su Yi looked around, but he didn’t discover anyone. In the end, he continued toward the palace.

But when he was just a thousand feet away, an icy roar rang out.

“Die!!”

It was just one voice, but when it sounded, the world rushed to obey.

The dome of heaven was in turmoil. The Laws of Annihilation surged, forming incomparably sharp spears that flew at Su Yi. They were densely packed, and there were so many of them that they blotted out the sky!

There was no need to even question it. Were any of the Great Profound Stage experts of the present day here, they’d have been doomed. They couldn’t possibly have defended themselves from an attack of this level.

These laws were akin to divine punishment. They were terrifying beyond measure.

In the face of this sudden danger, Su Yi merely snorted coldly and shot straight ahead.

Bang bang bang!

Spears shot toward him, but the Book of Karma and Sky-Covering Boat blocked them all. The resulting impact shook heaven and earth. Explosive currents of destructive power swept outward, throwing all of Spiritual Desolation Mountain into turmoil.

Despite the continuous onslaught and endless obstacles, Su Yi forced his way through, all the way to the bronze palace!

“How is this possible!?”

A startled cry resounded from within the palace. They were obviously stunned by what Su Yi had just done. It seemed they couldn’t imagine how anyone could possibly have contended with Divine Venerate Tian Huang’s power.

“Hurry, stop him! Hurry! Whatever you do, don’t let him get any closer. If you do…” Another voice rang out, this one ancient and frantic. However, he left the consequences unsaid.

Still, that was enough for Su Yi to realize that the two remaining Great Realm experts of Jade Firmament Immortal Palace were already in the bronze palace.

Moreover, they were in the middle of something of the utmost importance.

Boom!

The Laws of Annihilation were increasingly violent and explosive, as if someone were activating them with all their might. They transformed into countless misty gray divine chains and danced through the air like whips.

The taboo secret markings covering the bronze surface of the palace lit up, as if awakening from a long dormancy.

The pressure on Su Yi suddenly increased. Even the Book of Karma and Sky-Covering Boat trembled violently.

Su Yi didn’t hesitate. His eyes glinted with cold light, and he circulated the full extent of his cultivation base, drawing upon the power of reincarnation and both the Book of Karma and the Sky-Covering Boat.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

The landscape was overcast. Explosive divine radiance ran rampant. It was like a vision of the apocalypse.

Su Yi, meanwhile, was right in the thick of things, fighting the destructive power blanketing heaven and earth head-on. He’d arrived at the entrance of the bronze palace.

“Die!!”

A spear swathed in golden flame shot out of the palace interior, ripping the air apart. It was aimed at Su Yi’s head.

Clang!!!

Su Yi waved his sleeve and forced the spear back. Then, he shot ahead, grabbed the Book of Karma, and swung it.

Within the grand hall, a figure exclaimed and retreated explosively, but they were ultimately one step too late. The Book of Karma slammed into them like a brick.

Bang!!

The fleeing expert was flung back, spinning in circles on their feet as they shrieked like a slaughtered pig.

Su Yi, meanwhile, seized the opportunity to enter the hall!
