Chapter 424: The Zombie Wave ( 7 )
The leader of the Thunder Tribe, Raidon, stood on the battered palisade, scanning the surroundings to confirm that the battle was finally over.
However, he suddenly felt a chill and knew that danger was approaching.
He immediately started looking around to find the problem and alerted his team.
Then he saw it—a shadow was rushing through the air, accompanied by dark, winged shapes.
There were Vampires!
"A vampire—now of all times?!" He couldn't help but curse…
Furthermore, the sky suddenly turned dark, as if rain was about to come. This was definitely a huge problem since the Vampires were stronger in the darkness.
However, there was nothing he could do but to fight back.
Raidon signaled to his men.
Thankfully, he made preparations in response to rumors on the Regional Chat. It was first read by his Vice Leader and he soon confirmed that the Vampire's existence was real.
Because of that, he at least made some preparations in case they got unlucky.
He knew that Vampire's weakness was certainly the sunlight, fire, and holy water, which he somehow read when he was young.
Nonetheless, some of his members suggested using garlic, crucifixes, and silver weapons. There was also someone who suggested that they could be killed by a stake through their heart.
These things weren't confirmed just yet since they were in a different world.
However, he considered all of their suggestions just in case.
He had at least 20 elite Survivors with silver crossbows. He also bought holy water in the Marketplace to bless the swords they had since they didn't have access to Silver Swords just yet. There wasn't anyone selling them.
Garlic wasn't possible since they didn't have them, and the crucifix seemed a bit too optimistic. Because of that, they decided to focus on making fire, silver weapons, and wooden weapons, and as for the Holy Water, they confirmed that it had healing effects, so they believed that it was possible to defeat Vampires with such power.
From the ramparts, he ordered the lighting of every torch.
"Quick!"
The members of his clan ignited torches and created simple bonfires along the wall's edge. Those unable to wield weapons raised flaming sticks, casting waves of heat against the undead and lighting up the dark.
Statham, hovering just above the fortifications in his bat form, observed with interest.
"So, they've been prepared… Not bad." He mused after seeing their actions.
His eyes narrowed as he watched the Thunder Tribe swiftly prepare to defend their lives with their various anti-vampire items. However, he could also tell that they were all exhausted and were feeling nervous.
He could smell their fear!
The sight thrilled him…
But the Thunder Tribe's leader was different. Raidon didn't think he was going to be defeated… He was simply annoyed by their appearance!
"We will kill all the Vampires and face the ninth horde afterward. You'll get plenty of rest later on, so hang on!"
Raidon's warriors felt invigorated after hearing their captain's roar. They stood shoulder to shoulder with torches, flames, arrows, and various weapons.
As the vampires reached the walls, Raidon gave the signal, and twenty of his elite soldiers raised crossbows loaded with silver-tipped arrows, carefully taking aim.
Swoosh~
A rain of arrows followed!
However, Statham waved his hand, and a huge red banner appeared, stopping all the arrows!
He couldn't maintain it for long, so he retrieved the banner afterward. Nonetheless, it was enough to let the Lesser Vampires get into position.
Then, Statham dove closer, transforming mid-air, as he returned to his human form. He had about 30 lesser vampires, but he knew that they wouldn't be enough after seeing how the leader of this shelter had prepared for them.
With a wave of his hand, he summoned most of his thralls and blood slaves, and soon, the place was filled with snarling, blood-thirsty bodies.
After doing all of this, he finally retreated. He wasn't planning to fight head-on and just let his creations attack the shelter…
Soon, the Thralls climbed over each other, forming a bridge over the rubble of the broken outer wall. As for the Blood Slaves, they were able to move faster and reach the humans on the rampart.
"Loose!" Raidon yelled as another barrage of silver-tipped arrows flew through the air.
The arrows struck the thralls and vampires alike with the arrows being fired. Soon, several Thralls and Lesser Vampire shrieked as the silver burned into its flesh, hissing and melting through like molten metal.
However, it wasn't just enough to kill them. He didn't even mind if some Thralls, Blood Slaves, or Lesser Vampires were killed in the process. After all, once he converted those special Survivors, it would still be his big win in the end.
"Go on… Use everything you've got."
Statham sneered as he watched several of his Thralls fall, struck through the heart by silver arrows and stakes.
His creations were certainly being killed, but he could tell that their preparations wouldn't be enough for the number of his summons.
He knew that it would only take some time before they run out of fuel.
In the end, Statham looked at the group of people behind the leader. They were the elites who could somehow use lightning abilities through various means.
Their survival against his vampire horde would still depend on these people who had such amazing abilities.
However, it didn't take long before Statham became annoyed. He didn't expect that even after more than 15 minutes, they still had silver arrows and various items!
Seeing the Clans's resourcefulness infuriated him.
"So, they think fire and silver alone will save them?" he muttered. Then, he signaled for his lesser vampires to press forward harder. This time, Statham decided to fully use his Vampiric Aura to boost everyone's strength.
This spent a lot of Spirit Points, but he was still happy about it. This will hasten his kill streak, but in the end, he might have to stop his hunt after this shelter is conquered. After all, as a Vampire, Spirit Stones and many other pills and potions couldn't work on him.
Nonetheless, Raidon was able to sense the unusual intensity of the vampires' momentum.
With this, he had no choice but to resort to another method of combat. They had to get help with all the other Survivors in the shelter. Even non-combatants must act!
Thankfully, they had prepared for this scenario, believing that they would have to do this in order to survivor that last Zombie Horde…
"We will kill all of them!"
With this shout, he looked at his second-in-command, who lit an arrow with the flame of a torch and fired it into the night sky. The signal arrow was a call for everyone, including the cooks, carpenters, medics, and all those non-combat units to engage into battle using their emergency weapons. Enjoy more content from empire
Then, many of the defenders took up their fire-soaked arrows, and a new wave of flaming projectiles flew to kill the vampires…
The vampires screeched as the fire struck them, setting their clothing and even their skin ablaze, causing them to recoil with fear and pain.
The few survivors blessed with elemental talents focused their strength, sending waves of elements toward the vampires.
The wielders of the holy-water-coated swords then met the charging thralls in fierce close combat.
"Hoo~ They actually obtained a lot of holy water… I should target the ones making that next." Statham muttered.
He saw how the holy water seared into the flesh of his creations, sending them shrieking as they slowly dissolved under its touch.
Nonetheless, because of his Vampiric Aura, this was happening a lot slower that it should be. Before his thralls or lesser vampires die, they would be able to injure or even kill these people even at the cost of their lives.
Statham clenched his fists, watching the reckless defense of the Thunder Tribe. The members of this clan were also fierce and didn't seem to consider their lives.
His eyes glinted with frustration—he hadn't expected this level of resistance.
But since it was almost over and confirmed that there was nothing to threaten him, he finally decided to appear.
He flew above the shelter and soon, he let out a high-pitched shriek!
This shriek stunned many members of the Thunder Tribe. However, its purpose wasn't just that…
Soon, they realized that their bodies were weakening…
They immediately panicked, but soon, they found out that their blood was being drained!
Indeed, their injuries, no matter how small they are, were used by the Vampire as a path to take out their blood!
Raidon's eyes widened as this wasn't mentioned in the Regional Chat!
'An ability like this shouldn't exist!'
There weren't many of them who had some healing items, so they weren't able to stop their blood from being drained.
Raidon gazed at the flying Vampire, aware that the Vampire Lord had finally appeared before them.
"Come and face me if you dare!" He roared with his sword drawn, holy water dripping from its blade.
However, Statham just smirked at him as he had already learned his mistake from facing Shane Wells...
