Chapter 161: Chapter 161: The Death of Ronan
At the same time, Xandar faced its own crisis. Ronan emerged from the wreckage of his ship, his warhammer still glowing with the ominous power of the gem he wielded.
His gaze immediately locked onto Minerva, who stood with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Recognizing her, he snarled, "Traitor! You, who once bore the noble Kree complexion, have abandoned it! You disgrace the proud blood of the technological aristocracy!"
Minerva trembled but held her ground, steeling herself. "I'm Asgard now!" she shot back, raising her sniper rifle and firing at Ronan, making her allegiance clear.
Xandar's citizens and the Guardians charged, hoping to overpower Ronan. But at his peak power, amplified by the Power Stone, he was invincible. A single flash of purple light knocked everyone back, leaving them stunned on the ground.
Surveying the fallen Guardians and finding no sign of Thor, Ronan smirked. Confidently, he launched into a triumphant speech.
"Look upon your so-called Guardians of the Galaxy—nothing but chaos and ruin! Xandar, the time has come to cast off your weak idols. Your savior stands before you… and that savior is ME!"
He lifted his warhammer high, and the Power Stone began to pulse with energy. Just then, a jarringly cheerful tune interrupted his moment.
"Hey!" Star-Lord's voice broke out, followed by a loud, awkward rendition of a dance. He flailed around, hopping side to side, arms flying, completely oblivious to the chaos around him.
Ronan's fury flickered into pure confusion. "What… are you doing?" he asked, dumbfounded.
"Distracting you, you idiot!" Star-Lord grinned, throwing a thumbs-up to Gamora. "C'mon, Gamora! Dance-off, bro!" he shouted, still bouncing to the beat.
"Absolutely not," Gamora replied, barely managing to stifle a groan.
Nebula and Minerva muttered in unison, "What an idiot."
Taking advantage of Ronan's bewilderment, Drax seized his chance. With a primal roar, he launched a quantum cannon shot directly at Ronan's warhammer. But when the blast cleared, Ronan stood unscathed, his hammer barely scratched. A look of triumph crossed Ronan's face as he realized that he remained untouchable.
Just then, a colossal lightning bolt ripped through the sky, splitting the heavens in two. The thunderous blast focused down, striking Ronan's warhammer with such force that the Power Stone tore free, and the hammer shattered in his hand.
"No!" Ronan's scream pierced the air as he lunged for the Power Stone, now loose in the air. But before he could reach it, a surge of electricity paralyzed him mid-air, sending him flying backward.
Thor stepped forward, catching the Power Stone in his hand. Energy flared around him, the gem's immense power coursing through him. For a moment, purple light engulfed everything. But then the light receded, leaving Thor standing with the stone, now stable and under his control.
Ronan looked on in horror. "This… this can't be…"
Thor's expression was calm, powerful. "Nothing is impossible," he said, the stone's energy crackling in his fist. He channeled the power of the gem, his fist igniting with purple light, and struck Ronan with a single blow. The energy ripped through him, and Ronan's form disintegrated into dust, scattered by the winds of Xandar.
At last, Ronan the Accuser, a terror across the galaxy, met his end on the planet he had sworn to destroy.
