Chapter 10: Noisy Rosalina: Raiding a Warehouse, Part 2
"Wow... I never thought such a place exists."
Ethan ignored Rosalina as he opened the briefcase and took out the Oni mask, Without hesitation, he slid the mask over his face, catching Rosalina's attention.
"Wow... you take this vigilante thing very seriously, huh?"
Ethan continued to ignore her, reaching back into the briefcase to pull out a charcoal-colored laptop.
He powered it on and began running several programs, activating the systems within the Oni mask.
Rosalina watched him quietly for a moment before breaking the silence. "What is that?"
"Huh, you ask so many questions," Ethan muttered, his focus still on the laptop. "This mask was modified to have a built-in set of lenses specifically made for this mission. So, yeah."
Rosalina tilted her head, observing the setup closely. "You're carrying a netbook running optical systems and multi-spectral imaging systems, meaning the lenses in your mask fall under the category of thermal imaging, zoom, and telephoto lenses... or maybe even more."
She moved closer and grabbed his arm, her tone sharpening. "That's not the issue, The real problem is the programs you're running on that netbook.
Those are military-grade, the kind used for striking drones. So... what's up with that?"
Ethan looked at her with a gaze of exhaustion.
From the way Rosalina acted, he was smart enough to know she didn't have many friends, and spending time with someone her age gave her an opportunity to open up.
"One of my... companies supplies aerospace technology to the military," Ethan said, releasing himself from her grasp. "These lenses are just one of the patents I have access to."
He turned back to the netbook and continued: "After fighting the vampire and zombies in the darkness, I figured I needed to improve. So, I sought out help... And how do you know this stuff?"
"My mom is connected to the military," Rosalina replied casually, her smirk faint but telling,She leaned closer, her eyes narrowing. "So... what are you doing with that mask?"
"Scouting," Ethan replied flatly. "This place is mainly used for transporting gold 'legally' but it's a front for hiding a server... We can't just break in, it's too odd."
Ethan continued to use the Oni mask, scanning the warehouse meticulously, for 45 minutes, he observed the guards, noting their movements and patterns.
Their shifts were subtle, but over time he realized they were changing their formation, tightening their patrols around specific areas.
Satisfied with what he'd seen, Ethan removed the mask, stepped out of the car, and summoned Ethereal Divergence.
The Stand appeared silently at his side, its aura calm and prideful as it looked at Rosalina.
Ethan nodded to Ethereal Divergence, who used Gatekeeper to pull two guards from the other side of the warehouse through the Door.
"What is this?" one guard stammered.
"Who are you gu—"
"VRA-DA DA DA DA DA!" roared Ethereal Divergence as it unleashed a barrage of fists, silencing the guards and knocking them out instantly.
"What the hell are you doing? Is this your Stand?" Rosalina demanded as she stepped out of the car, approaching Ethan.
"We can't break in, but we can infiltrate as one of the guards," Ethan said, already undressing one of the unconscious men.
He slipped into the guard's uniform effortlessly, his body structure adjusting to fit the disguise perfectly.
Rosalina sighed but followed his lead.
A liquid-like substance covered her body, forming into armor that reshaped her figure to match the guard's body structure seamlessly.
"Huh... of course, you can do that," Ethan muttered. He checked his watch and added, "We've got 45 minutes before the next shift. Let's go."
Ethereal Divergence activated Gatekeeper once more, creating a door and allowing Ethan and Rosalina to step through to the other side.
....
"Hmmm... do you think the Earth is really a sphere? And is it true that we use more than 10% of our brains?"
"No, the Earth is actually a flat square, and..."
The two guards stopped mid-conversation as they noticed two figures approaching, both with muscular builds and wearing the same masks as the other guards, making their identities unrecognizable.
These figures were none other than Ethan and Rosalina.
"Hey, you two! You're supposed to be patrolling the perimeter," one of the guards said as they approached.
The guards scrutinized their badges, confirming they were indeed patrol-issued.
However, something about the duo seemed off, and the guards raised their weapons cautiously.
Before they could act, Ethereal Divergence used Gatekeeper to open two small, discreet doors behind the guards.
It then activated its Subjugation Command, bending the guards to Ethan's will.
"We're not just patrollers," Ethan said calmly. "You should let us through. After all, aren't we 'colleagues'?"
Rosalina gave Ethan a baffled look, silently questioning his choice of words.
"Of course! We're brothers, after all," one of the guards replied, lowering his weapon. "You may pass through."
Still confused, Rosalina started walking forward, deciding it wasn't worth asking more questions.
Ethan stayed behind momentarily, leaning closer to the guards.
"Here's what's going to happen," he said quietly. "In 30 minutes, you're going to let your deepest darkest intrusive thoughts take over...steal, destroy, murder ...whatever comes to mind.
Cause as much chaos as you want. And forget you ever saw us or heard these words."
With that, Ethan left the guards and caught up with Rosalina.
As they entered the warehouse, he whispered: "I told you, this place may seem abandoned and odd but it's a perfect cover."
The two glanced around, taking in the scene.
The warehouse was filled with gold bars, trophies, and even gilded rabbit statues. It was as if everything had been turned to gold.
"A perfect front for smuggling banned items," Rosalina whispered back. "Basic but clever."
"HEY, YOU TWO! DO YOU THINK THIS IS A KINDERGARTEN? GET BACK TO WORK!"
Ethan turned to see an older, bald man yelling at them.
Without hesitation, Ethereal Divergence shot forward and knocked the man unconscious with a single blow.
"What are you doing? Are you trying to get us caught?" Ethan hissed at his Stand, but Ethereal Divergence ignored him, striking a series of dramatic poses that only annoyed him further.
The warehouse was loud and chaotic, allowing them to blend in, but an unconscious body in plain sight could still spell trouble.
"Follow me," Ethan said, grabbing Rosalina's arm.
He led her to a large switch near the isolated curve of the warehouse.
With a simple gesture, Ethereal Divergence pulled it down, causing the entire warehouse to power down.
"WHAT THE HELL?"
"COME ON, NOW!"
Ignoring the shouts, Ethan gestured again, and Ethereal Divergence unleashed a barrage of punches, completely destroying the switch.
Sparks flew as the machinery broke beyond repair.
"I see what you're doing," Rosalina said, watching him intently. "But isn't this going to cause even bigger problems?"
Ethan glanced at her. "Yes, but we'll be gone in 45 minutes. It seems reckless and illogical now, but trust me, you'll understand soon enough."
He removed his disguise and put on his Oni mask, its enhanced lenses allowing him to see clearly even in the darkness.
Rosalina followed suit, and Ethan noticed a spark of electricity flickering in her eyes.
"Rosalina, can you... see?"
"Yes," she replied with a small smile. "Benefits of Hamon."
