Chapter 6: Enter: The Crimson Ember
Snow all around me. Its pretty tall. But I can see the sky clearly. Am I in a barrier? I stand. Melting a staircase into the snow. Up I go. Takin a look around, everything is the same. Tree. Snow. Is this where I lost? There some burned trees over there A-
"H-hello." The Flower we saved is here. Sitting on a log. She is drawing? "My name is Mona."
"Hello, Mona. I am. FISH!" The one and only.
"Right.. F-Fish.." Mona bows her head. "I just wanted to say thank you. I will be l-leaving. Inky said she will teach me magic. I'm going to go save my family." She clumsily walks away. Heading out of the Garden. Hopefully that's where that is, surely Inky knows the directions.
"Bye bye! Come again!" Alright. Where is everyone else? I'll check the pit. It was over there?
Well. All the animals are back. Waiting around the pit. I step onto my spot. There's a fancy wood stool and a fancy cloth there now. I hold out my hand, the flame moves as I desire. The pit ignites in Crimson. As before, the pretty colors flow into all the animals.
"Inky!" I hold out my right arm, looking to my palm expectantly. An eyeball forms where the black rose is.
"You're awake Fish. We're making a graveyard. I figured you'd want one. We'll have two Guest, and we've an Enemy survived." The eyeball then sinks into the rose.
"Er. Okay." I walk to a tree stump and sit down. "Time to make some bowls." Bowls are important for the funeral ritual. Its simple no? Bowls are just half a circle on top of a flat circle
Flame envelops the stump. It doesn't take but a few seconds to have a pile of ashes. And If I did it right! I blow the ashes away. There is five bowls revealed from the pile. Hehe. Feels good for the fire to l- Huh?
Blood drips onto my leg. I'm bleeding? My nose. Ah, it's very hot. The air and snow around me making steam. My body hurts. Well. That's enough fire today. I stand, collecting the bowls.
"I need to remember how Ki works. Or maybe Inky knows? Inky knows many things." I feel a bonk to my leg. One of the animals, a wolf. I pat the head. "I'm okay." Time to wander until I find where the graveyard is. The wolf is keeping me company.
"Maybe I should name them all. System!"
[Hello]
"Hi. Can I name the animals?"
[Notice: Normal Animals cannot be registered in the System. They must go through evolution before being capable of receiving names]
"How do they do that?"
[If they continue to Cultivate your Ki, they will evolve]
"Okay. Feed Animals, they become cool. Right. Did I get stronger after that fight?"
[Please Wait. The System will query The Host on creating a Feature to better display a users growth]
"Aren't I the Boss?"
[You are The Dungeon Master. You have complete control over the Dungeon outside of the Map Feature. Development of new Features must be confirmed by The Host]
I was told that already right? I guess I forgot some stuff cause of the fight... And... I stop. Looking up to the Sky.
"System, can you bring my Mother back?"
[Notice: Resurrection is impossible. Even Entities Beyond The Narrative cannot bring the dead back]
"Do you know if she was happy?"
[Yes. I was watching, she was very happy. My Mom said so too. Mom likes the story of your Mom, but I don't. All I saw was the end, why would I care about a story I don't know. Ya'know?]
??? "You have a Mom, floating text has parents?"
[Notice: The Graveyard is this way]
An arrow appears, pointing in a direction. A few minutes after following it, I see Ball , Z, and Cecil. "OIIII!" I wave. Stopping in front of the scene. Inky and Z are playing some sort of game, Cecil is sitting in front of a grave, did she put those flowers there? And Ball is making a gate. We need someone to paint all these wood things Ball makes.
Stepping behind Cecil, she is just staring at the grave. She doesn't look too good, nor happy. Moving to Z and Inky. I don't know what this game is. Is it rude to interrupt? I'm the Boss so, it's more rude to ignore me, yes?
"What do?" Inky moves a piece. Z looks sad, did he lose?
"Hello Fish, this is Chess. A common game among nobility in this land. I'm teaching Z, and no I will not teach you." Mean.
"From Fleeting Spark to Stable Embers. What did you experience, Fish." Z can see many things.
"Mother fixes my Ki blockage and Deviation. I'm not dying anymore!"
"What is Ki?" Inky speaks out while... is she restarting the game?
I tilts my head and make a very small flame in my hand. A mere flash. "Ki."
Inky pays no mind to the fire. "I didn't sense anything. So it is not what I know." This inky dissolves, Inky then comes out of the rose, sliding onto my head.
"Before I ask. What are you going to do with Cecil? Enemies die do they not?" Cecil is doing as she's been doing, sitting at the grave.
"No. I lost. Ball won. It is Ball's choice to decide her fate. If she lives, then she is no longer an enemy. Now a Guest. An Enemy can become a Guest, or even a Ally. Only a Traitor must die. No matter what." I sit down where Inky was and just move a random piece of the color on my side. Z becomes lost in thought. The wolf has taken Z's side.
"Do you know what Magic, Aura, or Spirit are Fish?" Mageek? Ora? Spirit? Spirit is like a ghost? Right? There were Spirit Arts.
"No. There is only Ki. Used in Sorcery and Martial Arts." Inky does the Hmmm. Many great thinkers do the Hmm.
"And is there Ki here now?" What a silly question.
"Ki is everywhere here." Z moves a tiny piece. Two squares. I don't know what that means, but horse is stronger than tiny piece. I move my hand over the horse. But what if the tiny piece and his friends beat the horse up? I place the horse in the square in front of the tiny piece.
"I find this to be rather unbelievable. An entire supernatural source undiscovered, that is plentiful? Could you really be from a different continent... What could of developed over there that didn't happen over here that we missed Ki entirely..." An Inky limb reaches over to the horse piece and puts it back where it started. "You can only move the horse in a L shape
"I can do a test to see if people here can cultivate Ki." I look to Cecil after moving the Horse. L shape. Onto the black square. "But such a thing is improper without permission."
"Can you not test me?" Silly Inky.
"Only Humans, Beast, and Demons can cultivate. You are blob, Inky." Z moves the same tiny piece as before. One square up.
"I cannot cultivate then. I am none of those things." I feel a pat on my head. "You should stop using your powers. As there is no one on the continent who can teach or guide you. And you yourself do not remember enough. How dangerous is Ki?" I cross my arms.
"Well... if you build your cores wrong, you will die. If you gather Ki wrong, your blood will explode. If you manage to get to the Nascent Soul stage and cultivate your soul wrong. You will become corrupted. The Path of Dao is dangerous. Where the strong are correct, the weak are wrong. And nothing is fair." Inky begins to dissolve.
"It would be a shame if our Boss died after being treated. You should take time, try to remember. For you will be your own teacher. We cannot help you should you do it wrong." A final word as she becomes a stain of Ink on my hair. "The Guest have arrived. I will guide them."
I stand up. It's rude to leave a game, but I don't know how to play! It evens out. "Ball!"
Ball is leaning against the gate it made for the graveyard. Now we just need walls. Ball nods to me.
"Ball. Make me a cape!"
