Legendary Shelter Survival Guide

Chapter 132: Somewhat healed and the problems with the 4 months objective

Lucas looked at everyone who were doing their business like everything was normal.

He had a hard time in walking as not only all his energy was confused by continuous healing, but he also had difficulty and felt uncomfortable with how he was looking at things.

His vision was incomplete.

"Damn, you look like shit, brother. Want a hand?" Sean asked while coming toward him.

Lucas was going to ignore him again but when he heard Sean call him brother, a frown to his best ability formed on Lucas's face.

Sean's expression had even become a bit sincere while looking at Lucas as if he had newly found respect for the guy.

"Uh... no but thanks."

"No problem. just tell me if you need my help with something. I am going to practice my Runesmithing skill."

Lucas darted his face toward John who was a few inches away from him.

"Don't even ask, he has been acting like this since you got injured. I think he is trying to become responsible now."

"That's good? I mean, it's weird seeing him like this but whatever."

He walked a bit further and sat at one of the logs as his legs had finally started to become limp.

"Is this normal, Ella?" John asked, worried that something might have happened with Lucas's nerves or spine.

"Believe me, John. This is very normal, from what I understand. Healing might fix the wounds but it takes a toll on the energy reserve of the body. And Lucas has not eaten anything solid since he fell unconscious. We should give him some of Haley's cooking to help him replenish his energy so that he gets active again."

"Makes sense, I will go and get some food for him." John brisked his way toward the two girls at the corner who had not noticed that Lucas had come out till now.

"Oh... Do you feel okay now?" Haley asked while looking here and there thinking that it would not be nice to look at Lcas's burnt and disfigured face.

"I will get around. I can't wait to eat some delicious food you know." Lucas said, the right side of his face formed a smile that Haley appreciated.

"You won't wait much. My skill leveled up and the buff also increased. I can even cook faster now."

They made small talk in which Sandra chimed in here and there, she had no worry when it came to Lucas and her explanation was that there was no death energy forming inside Lucas.

"So you are like our death meter, do tell us if you find the death energy."

Sandra nodded and they made some more talk until the food was before Lucas again.

"There is still no seasoning but I have done my best. Dig in~"

"Don't mind if I do." Lucas took a bite of the juicy steak-like smoked piece, he liked the smoked meat dry but seeing its looks, Lucas couldn't help but take a bite quickly.

TUCK TUCK TUCK

With each chew, Lucas's jaw made a popping sound as if the bones were not joint completely.

"Don't worry, I will try to fix this before tomorrow. You just try to eat as much as possible." Ella said while also eating a small serving.

"This is new." In front of Lucas, there was a broad table-like log on which a wooden plate with fineness was kept on which the serving was kept.

"Dylan's woodwork skill had increased in level again, his works have become better," John said with pride in his voice.

"By the way, your mother called me..."

COUGH COUGH COUGH

Lucas coughed with his hand on his mouth in order to not spit the food out.

"W-What did you say?" Lucas asked when for the first time in a while, his expression became very pale as if he had seen a ghost just a few inches away from him, and not even a scream come out of his mouth.

"I couldn't lie, Lucas, it was not right. I told her things clearly but also discreetly."

"I told her about the battle, how you got injured, and that you're currently healing," John explained with a concerned look.

Lucas's mind was racing, and his heart pounded in his chest. He knew that his mother would be worried sick about him, especially after hearing about his injuries.

He felt a mix of anger and frustration toward John for telling her, but he also understood why he had done it.

John was a sensible and caring man, and he probably believed that Lucas's mother deserved to know.

"And... what did she say?" Lucas managed to ask, trying to steady his breathing.

"Let's just say that it wasn't a good experience, you should call her soon."

"Uhhh... sure." Lucas then ignored everyone and ate the food in silence. He had to recover fast in order to complete his proficiency bars that were already halfway toward the third level.

Especially the sword that he kept using for a long time and the one that was the last was his basic spearmanship skill.

After half an hour, Lucas tried to get up and surprisingly, it went pretty well. For a few hours, he just walked around in order to try to get his body back to its prime.

His nerved were all bad and the soreness everywhere was something that sounded less painful but apparently, they were even more troublemaker than one of his blind eyes.

Few more hours of eating and walking and he was finally able to jog and with another few hours, he started running at a weak pace.

After he was satisfied, Lucas finally went outside the shelter and looked at meters of lengths finding only burnt stuff. The thin trees looked like they would turn to dust anytime soon, the bigger and broader ones had their coatings charcoaled so not a lot of damage was done to them.

The main ones were the bushes, the herbs, and the magical plants that were just there as Lucas couldn't take them out at his current level.

The whole shelter's front had become charred but the silver lining was that there were fewer hiding spots left.

Whimper... Whimper...

The small Basilon kid that was now three feet tall rubbed its head and back at Lucas's legs in order to show its concern making him wonder if its eyesight was the same as the humans.

"Don't worry buddy, I am okay." Lucas crouched easily and patted the creature's head.

The Basilon kid let out a soft whimper as if trying to communicate something to Lucas.

"You want to come with me?" Lucas asked, and the creature's small tail wagged in response. "Alright then, let's go explore a bit together."

With the Basilon kid as his companion, Lucas ventured deeper into the charred remains of the surrounding forest.

About 15 meters of the forest in front of Lucas was in very bad shape. Lucas's heart pained when he saw the place where the previous magical plant was located. There was nothing useful left near the shelter.

But he still knew that there could be a plus side to his too. The ash-filled small forest land could be used in a useful way even if everything remotely useful was gone.

The ashes may look useless but Lucas knew that the ashes were a great fertilizer for the plants. It was something he saw during the little time he watched television with his father for some family bonding time.

The other thing was the burnt outer layer of the trees, now that some of the layers of the trees were gone, Lucas could probably cut them up and use them to make planks for the shelter.

When the surveying was done, Lucas made his way back with the basilon kd with him. Lucas had a great finding too in the forest, there were many seeds around just sitting on the ground.

Now Lucas could just get them and sow lots of them inside the shelter but they risked him in getting a new skill.

There were many controversial things about the phase they were in. The objective entailed that all the creatures had to level their skills to 5 without any exceptions.

Now Lucas could tell that it was a task that could be completed in a span of 4 months if things were done in a smart way. Experience new stories on empire

But the risks were high too, If Lucas were to get a new skill that would start from the beginning level then he would just end up in a vicious cycle of gaining more and more new skills.

It was even possible that Lucas could get more skill at the end of the 4 months which was a fatality moment.

So in the end, he decided to level the shelter fast and be done with the 5 upgrades at the end of the second month.

This way, it was easy to tell that if he were to not upgrade further, then the skills would not get added on random again and again.

But the topic was still very vast and Lucas had already decided to use everyone's mind to make things clearer and to plan the whole 4 months ahead.
