Chapter 286: I Am the One at Fault Here...
Meanwhile, Lucifer, Layla, Eva, and Madison went up the small flight of steps that led to the Jacuzzi of the yacht, which was located in an elevated space, much higher than the rest of the upper deck.
Once there, they got inside the cool, bubbling water, which caused them to feel relaxed and refreshed as the fresh air blew against their faces.
Lucifer was resting his back on the edge, enjoying the feeling of the cool water on his body while gazing up at the sky. He watched the clouds floating by, appreciating the tranquility of the moment while Madison and Layla were beside him, with Eva sitting across from them in a triangular fashion, leaning back on the edges of the Jacuzzi just as he was.
"How are you feeling now?" Layla asked in a gentle voice, leaning over to him and resting her hand on his chest as she spoke. Her touch was soft and comforting, almost as if she could sense his inner turmoil and was trying to soothe him with her presence, which was true, and Lucifer knew this well.
"I'm alright. Don't worry about it," he replied, glancing over to her and smiling in response to reassure her that everything was okay.
However, deep down inside, he still felt uneasy about the earlier situation that transpired between himself and the four guys, especially with Ethan, whom he had threatened earlier. The memory of it made him feel a bit uncomfortable. After all, he wasn't the type to lose his cool like that, especially toward strangers, even when provoked, and yet he did.
'I shouldn't have gotten so worked up earlier. After all, I know that there may be many people who could be insulting Mom or anyone close to me behind our backs without us knowing, and I don't care about what others say or think. So, there was no need to react so harshly like that...' Lucifer thought to himself as he tried to understand the reason behind his violent behavior earlier.
'Is it because I got affected by my powers somehow? Or is it something more...? Like as if I look down on them, and the mere fact that they spoke out disrespectfully to me or those I care about made me react in anger?' He continued pondering as he looked up into the sky again and closed his eyes, taking a deep breath and slowly letting it out. 'Whatever it was, I should be more careful next time and control myself better. Otherwise, I might end up causing unnecessary problems in the future, which will be troublesome to deal with later.'
As these thoughts swam through Lucifer's mind, Madison moved closer to him and whispered in a low voice, "I am sorry, Lucifer; it was my fault that things escalated to this."
Lucifer was startled out of his reverie when he heard her words, turning his attention towards Madison. She was leaning over to his other side just as Layla, placing her delicate hand on his muscular shoulder while she had a concerned expression on her pretty face as she gazed at him, and said, "Because of me, you got into an altercation with my friends, and now the entire group's atmosphere got ruined."
Lucifer stared at her beautiful eyes for a few seconds, unable to understand what she meant. 'Wasn't I the one that suggested that we tease her friends and have some fun? Then why would she apologize like this to me?'
However, before Madison could speak further, Lucifer interrupted her by pulling her into his lap and wrapping an arm around her waist, causing her to let out a surprised squeak. Then, he leaned in closer to the blonde bombshell, pressing his forehead against hers as he looked into her eyes. Read the latest on empire
"Hey now, what are you talking about?" Lucifer asked, his voice filled with warmth as he held Madison tightly. "I'm not sure where this is coming from, but I was the one who proposed that we do that, so it's not your fault at all."
Madison's breath caught in her throat when he suddenly pulled her into his embrace like that, and she felt his strong arms wrapping around her slim waist as his muscular chest pressed against her soft, round breasts, causing her heart to flutter with anticipation.
She had been feeling worried about causing trouble between him and her friends, so his sudden intimate gesture was enough to distract her from her thoughts. All she could focus on was how amazing it felt being in his arms like that, something she had never felt before when a guy touched her. It made her feel secure, comfortable, and special all at the same time. Like he cherished her and wanted to protect her from everything.
However, when he said that, Madison looked away from him for a moment, feeling guilty. "No, I am the one at fault here... Because I went along with your plan to tease my friends, no, to be more exact, I wanted to show Ethan that he has no chance with me, which caused all this mess."
"Wait... What?" Lucifer asked in a confused voice as he looked at her. "Why would you want to show him that? Did something happen between you two that made you do that?"
"Actually, I was hoping to make an impression on you with my looks, so I asked Ethan to give his opinion on how I looked, and that made him flustered and confess to me suddenly out of nowhere." Madison paused and took a deep breath, then exhaled, trying to calm down before continuing. "But I don't have any romantic feelings toward him. In fact, I don't have any romantic feelings toward any of my male friends and always thought of them as nothing more than friends."
She looked up at Lucifer, their eyes locking together once more, as she continued. "So I tried my best to be gentle with him and reject him without hurting him. Which seemed to be effective at first when he seemed to understand my position and even apologized for being too forward, but when he saw you touching and flirting with me, it triggered him. That is when things got out of control, and now everything has turned into this mess, and it's all because of me..."
