Chapter 121: Chapter 121: Interrupting the Prelude

"Wait, wait! Why do you need so many?" Ristarte asked.

"For backup, backup of the backup, and backup of the backup's backup..." Han Yu replied with an air of calm.

Ristarte facepalmed. How overly cautious could this hero be? He was preparing so much gear that he might as well open a wholesale shop along the way.

Pushing him forward, she muttered, "You don't need that much. Hurry up and deal with Chaos. Once she's taken care of, you can buy proper gear in that larger town."

Han Yu nodded silently, then asked, "How much time do we have left? And how far is it to that town?"

"Just over five minutes, and it's about a kilometer away. Why?" Ristarte replied honestly. But as soon as she finished, she noticed a thoughtful expression cross Han Yu's face, and an ominous feeling crept up on her.

"Well, a professional athlete can run a kilometer in about two minutes and twenty seconds. With my physique, one minute is plenty."

Before she could react, Han Yu grabbed her wrist, lowered his body into a starting stance, and launched forward with explosive speed.

Ristarte didn't even have time to blush. Her facial features were immediately distorted by the powerful wind resistance generated by Han Yu's sprint, making her look as if her face had been peeled back.

The journey was mostly over rugged mountain trails, yet even the muddy, uneven paths didn't slow Han Yu down in the slightest.

Through the fierce wind, Ristarte managed to crack her eyes open and saw something astonishing. On sections of the trail where his foot should have sunk deep into the mud, Han Yu's feet barely grazed the surface before generating a burst of wind beneath him. This recoil seemed to propel him forward even faster.

They reached the town gates in just forty-two seconds. Han Yu finally came to a stop, glanced back, and nodded in satisfaction. "Forty-two seconds for a kilometer. Not bad under these conditions."

"You—are you even human?! A kilometer in forty-two seconds? That's nearly twenty-four meters per second! No normal person could ever achieve that!"

Though it was Han Yu who had been running, it was Ristarte who was out of breath. She plopped down into an ungraceful sitting position, looking disheveled as if the two of them had just engaged in something entirely inappropriate.

Han Yu paid her no mind. His gaze was fixed on the small town ahead.

The sky above the town stood in stark contrast to the world outside. Outside, it was clear and bright, with birds chirping and flowers blooming. But within, the sky had turned a deep blood-red hue, a clear sign of villainous activity.

Han Yu stepped forward and pushed open the town gates, immediately hit by an oppressive aura.

At the town square, Chaos stood wielding her massive sword, surrounded by a crowd of trembling villagers kneeling on the ground.

"Well, well, if it isn't the hero and his goddess. Took you long enough to get here."

Chaos licked her blood-red lips, addressing them with mockery. Though she used the honorific "lord," her tone was steeped in sarcasm.

Han Yu's steady advance wasn't hindered by her taunts. His hand rested on the sheath of his blade, while the other grasped the hilt, slowly drawing it out.

A keen observer would notice the faint footprints Han Yu left with each step on the solid stone-paved streets of the town. The fact that he could leave imprints on such hard ground was a testament to his sheer strength.

Chaos felt an inexplicable wave of fear creeping over her—a sensation she had only ever experienced in the presence of one person: her superior, the strongest being in this world, the Demon King.

Looking at Han Yu now, clad in his black attire with the soft white feathered cape fluttering in the wind, she felt an oppressive aura radiating from him despite his silence. The unease in her heart grew stronger.

"Just a novice hero who's barely arrived in this world, putting on such airs! I'll capture you alive, tie you up, and make you watch as I cut off the heads of these villagers one by one!"

Chaos made the first move, dashing forward with explosive force. Her massive sword, shrouded in a crimson aura, swung down fiercely toward Han Yu's head.

"Is that all you've got?"

Han Yu looked up, his eyes filled with endless indifference. His body flickered, and Chaos's massive sword struck nothing but air. The next moment, an overwhelming force hit Chaos from behind.

The power caused her to cough violently, her body flying through the air and skidding across the ground, leaving a deep mark in her wake.

"How is this possible? Just a few minutes ago, this guy was only at level one. How could he exert this level of power? The Demon King said the time in the divine realm moves slower, but even if it's a few hours, there's no way he could improve to this extent!"

Chaos coughed up a mouthful of blood, staring at Han Yu in disbelief. She didn't have the "ability to see powers," so she still thought Han Yu was level one. The fact that he could unleash such speed and strength was beyond her comprehension.

This was already far beyond her own level 66!

"I can't keep holding back my power anymore. It's time to unleash it!" Chaos's eyes flashed with a crimson cold light as she reversed her massive sword and thrust it toward her own abdomen with all her might.

"What's she doing? Is she hurting herself?!" Ristarte exclaimed in shock. Could this villain also be out of her mind?

"Hehehe, watch carefully. This is my ultimate move—Demon God Curse Killing Sword. You all wait—hey, what are you doing?!"

Chaos was about to laugh maniacally when she saw Han Yu already in front of her, raising his long blade toward her.

"Weren't you going to unleash your big move? Do you want me to wait for your pre-cast animation to finish?"

The pre-cast animation refers to the movements a character makes before attacking or casting a spell. In these dramatic, over-the-top anime scenes, many attacks involve flashy pre-cast actions. Chaos's move—stabbing herself with a sword without transforming—was a typical example of such a pre-cast animation.

Unfortunately for her, Han Yu wasn't going to give her the chance to finish.

"Vacuum Ice Blade!"

A low shout escaped Han Yu's lips as two ice blades formed around his long sword. A vacuum layer was created between the blades, enhancing their hardness as they slashed toward Chaos.

The two strikes sliced through her limbs, sealing the wounds in ice, which quickly spread across her entire body, freezing both her and her sword into an ice sculpture.

"Han... Han Yu, you're amazing! What was that move? Didn't you only have fire magic?"

Ristarte asked, stunned. As a newly appointed goddess, she didn't understand when a hero should possess certain abilities. But even she could tell that with Han Yu's level and power, this was far from normal!

Han Yu gave her a cold glance, but didn't respond. Ristarte suddenly had an uneasy feeling in her heart.

She watched as Han Yu raised his hand, and the white feathers on his body moved without the influence of wind. The ground around him suddenly erupted with numerous ice spikes, surrounding him completely.

"Ninefold Ice Tower!"
