Chapter 5: Dares for the Blind! Part-1
"I'll end you!" Setsuna screeched, detached torso chasing a laughing Itsuka around the walled-off area of the hot spring.
"What's wrong? Can't take what you dish out?" the martial artist called out, turning around to drop a smirk towards the torso failing to catch up to her. "Ooh, look at how red your cheeks are!"
Revenge was sweet. Sweeter than Itsuka could ever imagine it being. She really needed to vent like this more often.
"Oh, you're in the mood to play, Miss Prez?" Setsuna teased, a wild grin spreading across her face as she cracked her knuckles for effect. "Alright then, let's see what you've got. Bring your best shot!"
Itsuka sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose as if summoning the patience of a saint. "Honestly, you should count your blessings that I'm not as immature as you. If I were, you wouldn't dare try messing with me again."
She cast a pointed glance at Setsuna, only for her to start crafting exaggerated hand puppets, mimicking Itsuka's gestures with over-the-top flair. Itsuka's eye twitched in response, but she refused to give Setsuna the satisfaction of reacting.
"Really, Setsuna?" Itsuka deadpanned, crossing her arms.
Then karma hit her.
Or rather she crashed chest-first into karma.
Izuku gave out a grunt as Itsuka crashed into him, a strong hand wrapping around her waist to keep her from falling over.
Never say Izuku Midoriya was anything other than solid when he needed to be.
And that fact was causing Itsuka to lose her cool. "God, it's like it's sculpted from stone," she muttered out without realizing it, causing the man to start blushing madly, copying her current state.
"Prez~" Setsuna cooed, her voice dripping with honey as a mischievous, toothy grin spread across her face. "Your real thoughts are starting to slip out, you know."
"Shut up, Set!" Itsuka snapped, her tone sharp but not sharp enough to hide the faint blush blooming on her cheeks. She quickly averted her gaze, crossing her arms defensively. "It was just an accident!"
"Uh-huh, sure it was," Setsuna drawled, the smirk on her face growing wider as she leaned in closer, her emerald eyes glinting with amusement. "But that doesn't mean you're not enjoying it. Isn't that right~?"
Itsuka's blush deepened, and she instinctively leaned back, glaring at Setsuna with the full force of her exasperation. "You're impossible!"
"And you love it," Setsuna quipped, winking as she straightened up, completely unbothered by Itsuka's growing frustration.
"K-Kendo? Is that you?" Izuku muttered weakly, voice wobbly and fragile. But the damage was already done. There was no unhearing that masculine grunt that escaped his lips in the moment of impact.
"You're already making him grunt—serious skills there, Kendo," Mina teased, her mischievous grin practically lighting up the room as she wiggled her eyebrows for extra effect.
"Dammit! Now there are two of you," Itsuka groaned, her voice tinged with both exasperation and embarrassment as she buried her face in her hands. A deep flush painted her cheeks, betraying her attempt to maintain composure.
Mina let out a laugh, clearly enjoying the moment far too much. "Hey, I'm just stating the obvious. You're the one doing all the work here!"
"I swear, one more word and I'm using my giant hands," Itsuka muttered, lifting her head to glare at Mina, though the threat was undercut by the fiery blush that refused to fade.
"Promises, promises," Mina quipped, unfazed, her grin only growing wider.
She could feel the envious looks of the other girls all around her. Maybe that was what gave her the courage to do what she was about to do. She placed a hand on his stomach, feeling the muscles react and clench right under her touch. It made her feel really powerful for a moment. "Are you always this hard, Izuku?"
That did it. Izuku died right under her hands. He made a sound close to something a squeaky toy would make before going catatonic.
Wolf whistles echoed through the room, the sound bouncing off the walls like a chorus of her worst nightmare. Itsuka clenched her fists at her sides, fighting the overwhelming urge to dig a hole, crawl in, and vanish from existence. Her face felt like it was on fire, the heat from her cheeks spreading all the way to her ears as if her body had decided to betray her completely.
'I'm going to pass out at this rate,' she thought miserably, trying to steady her breathing. The sheer amount of blood rushing to her head made her dizzy, and it was all she could do to glare at her tormentors through the haze of humiliation.
In that moment, Itsuka found herself wishing for a device that could let her travel across universes—just so she could track down her counterpart, smack her for causing this embarrassment, and, though she wouldn't admit it, for making her jealous. Not that the jealousy mattered... or so Itsuka told herself.
Mina didn't waste the chance to meme. "Holy shit, she fucking killed him, dude!"
Tsuyu shrugged. "From my experience, yes."
"What the hell does that even mean?!" Uraraka exclaimed, her wide eyes filled with disbelief as she stared at Tsu, as if her friend had just stabbed her with a knife.
Tsu let out a long, drawn-out sigh, giving Uraraka an exasperated side-eye. "Don't overthink it, ribbit," she said, her tone laced with the kind of patient annoyance only a best friend could get away with. "My counterpart is probably just trying to get a reaction out of him."
Izuku died a second time, head snapping towards where Tsuyu had vocalized from, making another choked-out squeak.
"See?" Tsu pointed at the screen with a smug grin. "Also, Ochako, you might want to be careful with how you handle your possessiveness and how you express it. After all, it'd be a shame to scare Izuku away by acting like Yuki," she added, spinning the phone in her hand.
Ochako's eyes widened in horror, and she immediately puffed up, her cheeks taking on a deep shade of red. "That won't happen!" she protested, crossing her expression impressively mirroring an angry Kurby, complete with the puffed-out cheeks and the dramatic furrowed brow.
Ochako was on them in an instant, touching Izuku and heaving him away from Itsuka, the man not even missing a beat, head snapping towards where Ochako was with a small smile, even as he floated a bit off the ground. "Uraraka?"
"You're above the bath!" the woman called out, fighting her own blush before chanting 'release' and tapping her fingers.
As expected from the two, Izuku fell down with experienced grace.
"Look how well we're working together!" Ochako pointed at the screen, her face alight with pride. She practically radiated confidence as she flashed a beaming smile, as though her earlier doubts had completely evaporated. "There's no way Deku will ever push me away!" she declared with such certainty, completely brushing off Tsu's earlier words.
Tsu simply raised an eyebrow, her gaze shifting from the screen back to Ochako, who was practically glowing with self-assurance. "Mhm, sure," Tsu hummed nonchalantly, not buying it for a second. "You keep telling yourself that, ribbit."
Water sloshing just a bit as he gripped onto the towel around him for dear life.
"I mean, he could just toss that thing if he wants—it's pretty unnecessary, you know?" Setsuna said.
Ibara, however, didn't share her amusement. She crossed her arms, fixing Setsuna with a pointed, disapproving look. "No, it might be unnecessary for you, but for some of us, it's actually quite necessary," she replied.
When he calmed down, feeling the towel still around him, he let himself relax. An audible, contented groan escaped Izuku's lips as he submerged the rest of the way into the water, up to his chest. "That's better..." he smiled, looking towards where he assumed Ochako was, smiling at her. "Thank you, Uraraka."
It was Ochako's turn to die. The combination of that masculine groan and him thanking her had done her in. Buried feelings or not, that was getting etched into the deepest parts of her mind for later use.
For a second, she feared what she might dream about that day.
"Man, moments like this really make me glad we don't have to share rooms, right, Ochako?" Kyoka asked, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips as she glanced over at the red-faced brunette. Her voice was playful, teasing, but there was a hint of amusement in her eyes.
Ochako's blush deepened, her hands immediately flying up to cover her face as if it could somehow hide the heat spreading across her cheeks. "K-Kyoka!" she stammered, too embarrassed to even look in her direction. "That's not funny!"
Kyoka chuckled, her smirk widening as she leaned back slightly, clearly enjoying the reaction. "But seriously, I'm so grateful for the soundproof rooms," she continued, her tone turning mock-serious, though the mischievous glint never left her eyes. "I can't even imagine the horror my ears would have to endure otherwise."
Ochako groaned, her hands slipping to her sides in defeat. "Can you not, please?" she muttered, mortified.
Tsuyu patted the woman on the shoulder. "Lucky." Ochako knew she was just vocalizing what everyone else was thinking if the looks she was feeling and the general fluster in the air.
Who knew having a man in with hormonal women in a hot spring would be a bad idea?
"Yeah, who could've guessed?" Kendo said dryly, rolling her eyes as she crossed her arms, clearly unimpressed. "Oh wait, I knew, and I told you so," she added, a hint of smugness creeping into her voice.
Momo raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "Is that so?" she asked, her tone laced with amusement. She leaned back slightly, her eyes twinkling with teasing mischief. "But from what we've seen so far, your counterpart seems to be enjoying the situation the most," she added, her gaze flicking toward Kendo's flustered expression.
Kendo's eyes widened momentarily, and she quickly turned away, her cheeks tinged with a faint blush. "No comment," she muttered, refusing to meet Momo's eyes.
Mina knew it was a great idea, jumping into the bath after the man in the center of the hot spring, watching him blush and take a step away from the approaching sounds of sloshing water. "Who- who is it?"
"Why don't you guess ?~" she sing-songed, reaching out and grabbing his free hand.
"That hand... Ashido?"
Mina took a moment to blush herself. "How did you..."
"Oh, I've been waiting for this," Jiro said, a devilish grin spreading across her face like a cat about to pounce. Her fingers wiggled dramatically as she rubbed her hands together, the picture of mock villainy. "Oh, how the tables have turned—and the turns have tabled," she added, her voice dripping with playful malice as she let out a wicked giggle.
"There aren't going to be any tables turning!" Mina declared, scoffing as she tilted her chin upward. "I'm not the type to blush over such small things!"
"Oh, we'll see..." Jiro's grin widened, a mischievous glint in her eyes that sent an involuntary shiver down Mina's spine, making her shift uncomfortably.
Mina held her ground, though her confidence faltered just enough for Jiro to notice. "I-I'm serious!" Mina stammered, her voice just a touch higher than usual. "There's nothing you can do to embarrass me!"
He gulped, making his Adam's apple twitch in a way that got Mina excited more than she would ever care to admit. "I- uh... lucky guess?"
"Bullshit," Kyoka snapped, slipping into the water herself while condemning Mina to a flustered death. "You don't guess , Green. We know you that much."
"Good work, on-screen me! Keep pushing ahead!" Jiro cheered, pumping her fist in the air with uncharacteristic enthusiasm.
"Jiro seems oddly motivated," Yui remarked, tilting her head slightly as her expression remained stoic as always but her tone carried a hint of curiosity.
"Well…" Momo began, glancing at Jiro, whose energy was now practically radiating off her. Momo gave a small, strained smile as if searching for the right words. "She can be quite vindictive when she wants to be."
"I-...ok but don't hate me for this..."
That got the entire group's attention.
"Okay, this is going to be interesting," Ochako said, leaning forward on the edge of her seat. She was excited and curious about what was coming next—especially since, more often than not, she was the one on the receiving end of her best friend's musings.
"...your skin is very soft and has a smoother texture than most, that combined with your voice kinda just..." he trailed off, cheeks getting as red as Momo's costume. "Sorry."
At that moment, Mina died and regretted everything that led up to her and Izuku holding hands in the middle of the hot springs.
"Well, well, well, Mina, you can't deny it anymore, can you?" Jiro teased, a triumphant grin plastered across her face. "Oh, how the turns have tabled," she added, her voice dripping with unhidden glee as she milked every word.
"Can you stop milking that stupid idiom already?!" Mina snapped, her voice rising a pitch as her face turned a deep shade of purple. She crossed her arms in defiance, trying desperately to maintain some semblance of composure. "Besides, my counterpart was just caught off guard. That's all it was!"
Jiro raised an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced. "Yeah, sure, we believe you," she said with a dismissive wave of her hand, the grin on her face widening even further. "Totally not blushing, totally not flustered—just a random coincidence, huh?"
"Humph~" Mina puffed out her cheeks and looked away, silently mulling over the things on-screen Izuku had noticed about her.
Kinoko muttered only barely within earshot of Izuku. "I don't know if that's touching or scary..."
"Well, I suppose it depends on which side you're on," Momo said thoughtfully, her hand resting delicately on her chin. "If I were an enemy, I'd be terrified. But as his friend and ally, I'm glad he's on our side."
"Shoo true," Kinoko agreed, nodding to herself as she swayed slightly in her seat.
Reiko tilted her head, a smile on her usually deadpan face. "Such discomfort only makes his soul shine brighter."
"Indeed, my counterpart speaks the truth," Reiko affirmed. "To possess such intuitive and profound insights into others and their quirks is a remarkable talent, and to utilize it for the betterment of his friends demonstrates the true strength of his character."
******
If someone had told Izuku that he would be sitting in nothing but a towel and a sleep mask, surrounded by thirteen women just as naked as he was, he would— well, first he would blush up a storm, then he might ask if they needed to see the nurse.
"Honestly, I would've reacted the same way if someone had told me that one day I'd let a boy sit in the same bath as me," Itsuka said with a heavy sigh, still struggling to digest the fact that her counterpart had even entertained such an outrageous idea. She crossed her arms, her face a mix of disbelief and lingering embarrassment. "It's just... wild to even think about."
"No, you definitely would've punched a tooth or two out if a boy suggested it," Pony said, nodding to herself as though she were certain of the outcome.
Itsuka's face flushed a deeper shade of pink, and she opened her mouth to defend herself, but the words caught in her throat. "I'm not that violent..." she started, but as she glanced at the deadpan expressions of the 1B girls, her voice trailed off.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the city, Neito Monoma sneezed suddenly, nearly dropping the sandwich in his hand as he looked around, and cursed the 1A students, convinced one of them had been talking badly about him.
If someone had told Izuku that the women would not only be okay with him being around them in that state of dress, but ALSO would proceed to tease him without remorse, he just might laugh at their obvious joke. And yet...
"Indeed, reality is often stranger than fiction," Ibara said. "And the events on the screen might make one wonder if what we're watching is reality or the product of some 3 a.m. idea cooked up by an author."
"Ibara, for the love of God, please don't start with this," Setsuna groaned, slouching in her seat and dragging her hands down her face in exasperation. "I was just coming to terms with the idea of multiple worlds. Now I don't want to spiral into an existential crisis about being a fictional character."
A startled laugh rang out from across the bath, swiftly followed up by adorable full-bodied laughter Izuku almost didn't recognize from the same woman. "Holy shit, Green," Jirou exclaimed between her laughter, "I didn't know Mina could turn that shade of purple! You completely broke her!"
That's exactly what happened.
Ashido's hand was yanked out of Izuku's grasp effortlessly. "Sh-ShuT UP! I wasn't prepared for Midori's smart thing, STOP LAUGHING!" Water sloshed noisily towards Jirou's laughter, which only picked up in intensity, others scattered around the bath joining her revelry.
"Ahh, revenge is best served cold," Jiro said with a wicked grin, her eyes gleaming with a mischievous light as she cackled like a villain from a cheesy movie, while Momo quickly created a small, compact projector machine that projected lighting effects behind her.
"Momo, really?" Ochako raised an eyebrow, surprised to see the most sensible person in their class encouraging Jiro's antics.
"I mean, what's the big deal?" Momo shrugged with a chuckle. "I made these compact projectors for our juniors last year during the School Festival, and since we're all having fun, I thought, why not?"
Meanwhile, Mina sulked, glaring daggers at Jiro, silently vowing to get back at her—twice as hard—whenever she had the chance.
Izuku could only laugh awkwardly as he listened to Jirou continue her merciless assault on her usually more outgoing friend. He wasn't sure why Ashido got so embarrassed just because he recognized her, but he decided to chalk it up to one more thing he'll think about when he's wearing a little more fabric. For now, he needs to find an edge. Being in the middle of the hot spring is definitely not a good idea when he couldn't see a damn thing.
"Yeah, Mina, what's there to be so embarrassed about?" Setsuna grinned, joining Jiro in teasing Mina. Meanwhile, Mina just huffed, adding another name to her revenge list.
As he inched backwards slowly, he felt warm tendrils wrap gently around his torso, underneath his arms. Vines, covered in tiny, blunt thorns, coaxed the green haired man to continue his retreat with guidance.
"Oh, tentacles—how kinky," Yui giggled softly as she glanced at Ibara with a teasing glint in her eye. Her lips curled into a smirk as she let the words linger in the air.
Ibara's eyes widened in shock, her face turning a deep shade of crimson as she immediately whipped her head to face Yui. "Yui, stop letting your degenerate mind come up with such crude scenarios using my quirk!" she exclaimed in embarrassment as she glared at the stoic girl.
Yui's mischievous smile only widened as she noticed Ibara's reaction. "The fact that you knew exactly what I was talking about and had such a vivid imagination about it tells me everything I need to know," she teased, leaning back slightly, making Ibara's blush deepen.
Shiozaki wouldn't lead him astray, Izuku chose to believe. The belief was well founded when he felt his back touch the smooth stone perimeter, and Shiozaki's vines pulled away from Izuku's body. Someone slipped into the water a couple feet to Izuku's left, where Shiozaki's vines retreated. Taking a risk, Izuku looked over to where he heard them and smiled. "Thank you, Shiozaki."
The religious woman spoke gently, barely loud enough for Izuku to hear. "Of course, Midoriya. It would be improper of me to leave you without guidance."
Watching her counterpart interact with Izuku on the screen, Ibara couldn't help but smile softly, her fingers absentmindedly playing with a strand of her hair as she observed the scene. Her mind conjured an image of her and Izuku standing together in the garden of her house, tending to the plants, smiling and laughing with each other.
Just as Izuku opened his mouth to refute the claim, the chaotic voice of Tokage cut him off. "And Ibara is already making her moves! You go, girl!" And there goes Izuku's cheeks, burning brightly like the traitors they are. If this keeps up, he might end up developing a chronic blush like Uraraka within the hour.
"What!?" Ochako exclaimed, her voice high-pitched and full of shock as she stared at the screen, her wide eyes locked on the footage of Izuku. "Deku has a crush on me!?"
The room fell silent for a moment, everyone turning to look at Ochako, who was clearly in complete disbelief. Her hands flailed in front of her as if trying to make sense of what she had just heard, her cheeks flushed a deep pink. "That—That can't be right!" she stammered, eyes darting back and forth between the screen and her friends. "Are you sure?!"
Tsu, who had been watching with mild amusement, rolled her eyes, clearly not as surprised by the situation. "Honestly, both you and Izuku need glasses, since both of you can't see the obvious things in front of you, ribbit," she said while quickly intervening and hooking her arm around Ochako's, fearing she might fly away in embarrassment as usual.
Judging by the shake in her voice, Shiozaki wasn't holding up much better. "Be silent! I was merely assisting Midoriya in finding a comfortable seat, do not accuse me of impure motivations!"
"Yet you have drawn him within your aura," a voice at the right of the bath drawled. Yanagi, if he remembered correctly, she always had a speaking style similar to Tokoyami's. "Would that not imply you aim to claim him?" The water where Shiozaki was seated became agitated, splashing and sending ripples towards Izuku. Izuku envisioned her vines, normally calm and dignified, writhing like an angry bed of spiky snakes.
"There is never smoke without a fire," Reiko said with a knowing smile, her eyes locking onto Ibara, who had instinctively turned her glare onto her. "And the way your counterpart and her quirk reacted to my counterpart's statement clearly indicates that she had some intention, however slight, to claim Izuku for herself."
Ibara's cheeks flushed with an unexpected warmth, and she quickly turned her gaze away, trying to suppress the mixture of embarrassment and annoyance rising within her. "I—My counterpart is just... just being protective, nothing more," Ibara muttered, though the slight tremor in her voice betrayed her uncertainty.
Ever the voice of reason, Kendo raised her voice. "No one is claiming Izuku, especially not right now."
Before Izuku could thank her, Ashido piped up once again from across the spring. "Yeah, right now, Midori is all of ours! And I know the PERFECT way to take advantage of that~"
"Oh... this can't be good," Momo and Itsuka said in unison, their voices tinged with concern as they both stared at the on-screen Mina's expression.
Mina, noticing their reactions, raised an eyebrow and shrugged nonchalantly. "On the contrary, I think it's going to be amazing," she said, a devilish grin spreading across her face.
Something akin to dread planted a seed deep within Izuku's gut as the pink tease continued. "Impulse Truth or Dare!"
"That's a great idea!" Setsuna and Toru exclaimed in delight, giving thumbs up to Mina for the hilariously devilish plan her counterpart had come up with. Meanwhile, the other girls stared at them, confusion written across their faces in varying degrees.
Noises of confusion rose around the bath. Pony was the one to speak for the group. "Impulse...? What is that?"
Ashido began to walk around the bath counter-clockwise as she explained, "Truth or dare, but with a twist: you're not allowed to think!"
"That shouldn't be too hard for you," Tsuyu croaked. Some women laughed at the jab, and someone gave the frog woman a high five.
"Tsu, that wasn't a nice thing to say!" Mina complained, puffing out her cheeks and crossing her arms in mock indignation.
Tsu simply shrugged, looking completely unfazed by Mina's complaint. "I know it wasn't, ribbit," she nodded sagely before a mischievous smile appeared on her face. "But it was hilarious," she added, as the girls once again shared a laugh at Mina's expense.
Ashido paused, no doubt glaring at her deadpan friend, before continuing her stroll. "Hmph. Anyways, because there's so many of us, we need to go fast. I'll go first, asking one of you 'Truth or Dare.' You need to pick one of them instantly, gut reaction. Whichever you pick, any one of us can shout out a question or an order, doesn't have to be the person who asked truth or dare. If you're the one chosen, you have to answer with the truth off the top of your head, or perform the dare without hesitation. Afterwards, you can pick anyone at all to go next. Messy, chaotic, and a hell of a lot of fun, no?" The water to Izuku's left, beyond Shiozaki, splashed as Ashido dropped into it.
To Izuku's dismay, curious noises of agreement rang out from all corners of the hot spring. The only voice that sounded even remotely reserved came from Izuku's right, less than a meter away. "This can only end very poorly..." Despite her reservations, Yaoyorozu said nothing to stop the game.
"Trust Momo! Put little faith in me!" Mina said dramatically.
"On the field, I can trust you with my life, my dear, but when it comes to mischief... not so much," Momo clarified, not missing a beat.
Izuku chuckled, hopefully without sounding awkward. "I don't know, Yaoyorozu. Between you and Kendo, I'm certain it can't—"
"MIDORI!" Oh god. "Truth or dare!"
"...be anything other than an absolute disaster."
Yaoyorozu's cute giggling did little to ward off the foreboding feeling deep within Izuku's core.
"I'll gladly take the compliment," Momo said with a small giggle. "And despite my apprehension about the idea, I am looking forward to what's about to happen next."
To be continued...
