Chapter 14: Chapter 14 ~ Team B Vs Team G.
Chapter 14 ~ Team B Vs Team G.
The crisp morning air swept across the Beta Training Grounds at UA Academy. At approximately nine-thirty, the sun was already high in the sky, casting long shadows across the abandoned cityscape—a mock metropolis constructed specifically to hone the skills of aspiring heroes. The air was cool but invigorating, carrying the faint scent of concrete and metal from the artificial structures. The atmosphere was calm yet charged, as if the buildings themselves anticipated the trials that would unfold within their confines.
Standing near the entrance to the training area, Momo Yaoyorozu and Trafalgar Law shared an almost identical air of composure. Their black hair shimmered under the sunlight, and their expressions remained unreadable, marked by an uncanny sense of detachment. Despite being nearly the same height, their differences were apparent—her dark, contemplative eyes contrasted with his stormy gray ones. Yet their quiet demeanors mirrored each other so well that initiating a conversation seemed both natural and challenging.
Not far away, Ochaco Uraraka clenched her fists in excitement, her cheerful energy radiating like sunlight breaking through clouds. Her pink, visor-like helmet obscured part of her face, but her enthusiasm shone through her voice as she exclaimed, "We're on the same team! Isn't this amazing, Deku-kun?!"
Izuku Midoriya, standing beside her, felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him. His freckled cheeks flushed a soft red as he struggled to maintain eye contact. "Y-yeah, Uraraka-san. It's… great," he stammered, unable to ignore how her cheerfulness enhanced her charm.
The two of them seemed to embody the quintessential image of teenage romance, their awkward interactions filled with youthful innocence. Meanwhile, both Law and Yaoyorozu observed the scene with mild disinterest. Their shared glance conveyed a mutual thought: Is this how I'm supposed to act?
Their hair swayed slightly in the breeze, emphasizing their distinct yet similar presences. Yaoyorozu's polite poise contrasted with Law's understated intensity, yet their matching expressions of bemusement created an unspoken bond. Their calm exteriors made them look like reflections of each other, though they'd never admit it aloud.
Breaking the silence between them, Yaoyorozu offered a soft smile. "I can't wait to see who our opponents will be," she said, her voice measured and confident. "I believe we have a strong chance of winning."
Law's lips curved into a subtle smile, his calm demeanor unchanged. He opened his mouth to respond, but his thoughts briefly derailed. That was close. I almost answered like I knew her abilities in detail, he mused. I need to keep things natural. After all, it's only the beginning of the school year, and the others don't know much about her quirk yet.
Careful to maintain his composure, he spoke in an even tone. "By the way, Yaoyorozu-san, what's your quirk?"
As if on cue, a familiar voice echoed in his mind. I was hoping you'd slip up and say something suspicious. You're such a fool for knowing all the events in this story, after all, the system chided, its tone dripping with mockery.
Law suppressed the urge to scowl, his expression remaining stoic. The system continued, What's wrong? You usually respond to me without caring if people think you're crazy. Or… could it be that you've finally found some romance in this story?
This system is relentless, Law thought, ignoring the voice. But its words confirm something: it can't access my personal thoughts. That's a relief, at least.
Oblivious to his internal struggle, Yaoyorozu responded with a gracious smile. "True, we don't know much about each other yet. As you may have heard from All Might earlier, my name is Yaoyorozu Momo." She raised her palm slightly, as if to illustrate her point. "My quirk allows me to create objects—anything from knives to other tools. However, using it requires mental energy, so I have to be mindful not to overdo it."
"That's an impressive ability," Law remarked, his voice calm as he raised his right hand. A translucent blue sphere formed in his palm, its faint glow captivating. "I can generate a field—a 'Room,' if you will. Right now, its range extends beyond thirty meters."
He paused, his gray eyes briefly clouded with thought. The range of my Room has been increasing since I arrived in this world. But will it ever surpass a hundred meters?
Clearing his thoughts, he continued. "Within that field, I can manipulate various things. That's the essence of my quirk."
Yaoyorozu's dark eyes widened in admiration. "Your quirk never ceases to amaze me," she said earnestly. "I imagine you'll achieve great things as a hero."
"That's kind of you to say," Law replied with a small smile. "But we both know your quirk is among the most versatile and beneficial abilities out there."
A faint pink blush colored Yaoyorozu's cheeks. "That's… a bit of an overstatement," she murmured, her tone modest.
Their quiet exchange was interrupted by All Might's booming voice. "Alright, everyone, it's time to determine the matchups!" He stood beside two boxes—one filled with red balls and the other with blue. "The box on my left represents the villains, while the one on my right represents the heroes."
The tension in the air thickened as the students watched him reach into each box. All Might pulled out one red ball and one blue ball. Holding them high, he declared, "The hero team is Shoto Todoroki and Denki Kaminari—Team B. They will face the villain team, Yaoyorozu Momo and Trafalgar Law—Team G."
A flicker of concern crossed Yaoyorozu's face, mirrored by Kaminari's uneasy expression. His yellow eyes darted nervously between his partner and their opponents.
Law and Todoroki exchanged a penetrating glance. There was no fear, only mutual respect and an unspoken acknowledgment of the impending clash.
A battle that promised to be nothing short of epic was about to unfold.
