Chapter 196: Chapter 196: Live Performance
###
"Give me a sign
Hit me baby one more time
Oh baby baby
The reason I breathe is you"
It was the 17th song of the concert, and Britney was performing a jazz version of "Baby One More Time." Compared to the original, this version had a stronger rhythm, with electronic music effects, making it super energetic.
The audience was all on their feet, screaming and waving non-stop. Some treated the concert like a nightclub, dancing and jumping around right in front of the stage. The atmosphere was electric.
After "The First Confession of Love," Britney took a breath, grabbed the mic, and slowly walked to the center of the stage. She was dressed in black leather armor and wearing a round hat, looking cool like a hippie.
"Next up is a new song, and it has a pretty interesting story."
Britney smiled sweetly, her smile seeming almost magical, causing many in the audience to smile along with her.
"This song was written by a very, very good friend of mine."
She glanced at someone in the audience as she said, "He doesn't want me to say his name, just because there was a huge misunderstanding caused by this song. He's a really nice guy, and I don't want him to be misunderstood again. So, the next performance will be fun—I hope you all enjoy it."
"Luca, is she talking about you?" Fenni whispered.
"Probably. I'm a nice guy, aren't I?" Luca shrugged.
"Haha, yes. But what's this misunderstanding she's talking about?"
"You'll see!"
At that moment, a prop car was pushed onto the stage, parked right in the middle like a wall.
Once the music started, Britney stepped behind the prop car.
The audience could only see the side of the car; they had no idea what was happening inside.
"Are they putting on a play?" Fenni wondered.
Luca smirked. He had a good idea of what was going on. It wasn't necessary, but it sure was bold.
"I want nobody nobody but you
I want nobody nobody but you
How can I be with another
I don't want any other"
Britney's voice came from behind the car, lazy and raspy, filled with sultry allure.
As she sang, the car started to shake gently.
"I want nobody nobody but you
*Slap*
I want nobody nobody but you
*Slap*"
Suddenly, the sound of slapping came from inside the car, perfectly synchronized with the shaking, creating an incredibly suggestive vibe, as if something naughty was happening inside.
"This scene… it feels so familiar," Rachel frowned slightly.
It wasn't just her—many in the audience were feeling a sense of déjà vu.
"Wait, is this about that car video?"
Someone finally remembered.
"Yeah! It's that Britney car video. The rhythm is exactly the same."
"Are they recreating that? Wow, this is getting intense."
The audience was glued to the stage, dying to know what was really happening inside the car.
"You know me enough so
You know what I need, boy"
As Britney continued to sing, the prop car was rotated around, revealing the inside. Britney was sitting elegantly on a sofa like a queen, flanked by seven women dressed in traditional British-style gowns, like royal attendants.
"I want nobody nobody but you
*Slap*
I want nobody nobody but you
*Slap*"
As Britney sang, the seven women clapped their hands in time with the music, their claps sharp and crisp.
"Whoa, I get it now! That car video was fake!"
"Yeah, Britney wasn't doing anything inappropriate in the car. They were just dancing!"
"Haha, what a funny misunderstanding!"
"See? I knew my Britney wasn't that kind of person!"
As the audience connected the performance to the infamous video, they began to laugh knowingly.
"Luca, so you and Britney weren't doing anything in the car?" Fenni asked in surprise.
"So, the rumors about you and Britney are fake?" Rachel chimed in.
"You guys were just dancing? I don't buy it," Ryan added, scratching his chin.
Luca shrugged, "I'm a decent guy. I'd never do something like that!"
"Heh," the three of them scoffed and turned their heads away.
Luca looked back at the stage. The car scandal had spread across the entire U.S., and now Britney was using this performance to clear things up. Would it work? Maybe not, but he was still touched by her effort.
"Hey, did you write this song?" Christina blinked, looking at him curiously.
"Yeah, what do you think?" Luca raised an eyebrow.
"It's alright. The style doesn't really fit the rest of her album, though. I don't know why Britney chose it—she has no taste," Tasha muttered, pouting.
Luca smiled slightly. She was still upset.
Suddenly, sparks flew from the edge of the stage, and the scene shifted dramatically. The prop car shattered into pieces, scattering across the stage.
Britney stood up from the sofa, tossing aside her hat. Four backup dancers reached out and tore off parts of her outfit, revealing a sexy new costume underneath.
The other dancers also ripped off their gowns, revealing sultry bikinis.
"I want nobody nobody but you
I want nobody nobody but you"
This time, the rhythm of the music intensified, and the performance shifted from a gentle breeze to a wild storm.
*Slap!*
Amid the flashing lights, the dancers shook their hips, slapping their thighs in a heavy, sensual rhythm. The whole scene was incredibly provocative.
"Whoa!" The audience erupted in excitement, clapping along in sync, their applause shaking the venue like an earthquake.
"This is it! This is the sexy I was waiting for!" Fenni shouted.
After yelling a few more times, she turned with a grin, "Miss Christina, what do you think now?"
Tasha paused, glanced at Luca, and muttered, "Still just okay."
Luca chuckled. This was the revised version—the enhanced one.
The original performance had been more subtle.
In the revised version, the music was more intense, with a stronger pop influence, and the choreography, aside from the hip-slapping, was completely revamped to be even more explosive. The crowd was loving it.
"Luca, I'm starting to think you're pretty talented," Rachel said, sizing him up. "You can act, model, you used to be a Brazilian soccer player, and now you're a songwriter too. You really are a jack of all trades."
"Hey, babe, I'm right here. Can you stop looking at him like that?" Ryan complained.
"Ryan, are you jealous?" Luca teased.
"Jealous of you?" Ryan scoffed. "Next time we have a chance to act together, I'll show you what real talent is."
"Sounds good. I'll be waiting," Luca laughed.
"I want nobody nobody nobody nobody
I want nobody nobody but you
I want nobody nobody but you"
As Britney sang and danced, she moved to the edge of the stage. Suddenly, she walked up to Luca, knelt down, and with a red rose in her hand, struck a pose as if proposing.
"..."
Luca's heart skipped a beat. What was she planning?
