Chapter 198: Chapter 196: A Haven of Energy

Chapter 196: A Haven of Energy

"Phew—"

Baishi exhaled deeply, his eyes fluttering open as he muttered, "Finally, success!"

Although the process of setting up the Spirit Gathering Array hadn't taken much time, the effort it required was considerable. Factoring in the extensive preparation beforehand only made the accomplishment feel more monumental.

Even someone as resilient as Baishi couldn't ignore the weariness tugging at his body. But the results were well worth it.

Feeling the steadily increasing concentration of natural energy in the air, his heart burned with excitement.

"I wonder what's happening outside?"

The thought struck him suddenly. Without hesitation, Baishi activated the Flying Thunder God: Guiding Thunder technique engraved on the spatial ring, leaving the inner space.

---

Outside.

A fierce tornado raged around the small wooden training hut. Though the structure was sturdy, the relentless winds creaked and groaned against it.

At last, with a loud crack, the hut collapsed entirely, its debris scattered by the violent storm.

"What in the world is this?" Baishi murmured.

Standing amidst the chaos, his instincts kicked in. Chakra Armor enveloped his body in an instant, shielding him from the raging winds. His feet pressed firmly against the ground, stabilized by chakra coursing through his soles, rooting him to the spot.

Bracing against the storm, Baishi grabbed a broken wooden plank and examined it closely. "This… Is it because of natural energy?"

Deciding not to dwell on the debris, he stepped out of the storm's center.

"Lord Baishi!"

Summer and Firefly quickly appeared, bowing deeply before him.

"Mm," Baishi nodded slightly before asking, "When did this storm begin?"

"About five minutes ago," Firefly answered.

"Five minutes…" Baishi's gaze sharpened. "Just as I thought—this is due to the rapid influx of natural energy."

He wasn't unfamiliar with such phenomena. During his training in the Demonic Howl Caverns, he had experienced something similar.

While the caverns absorbed natural energy from the world continuously, every so often, the rate of absorption surged dramatically, creating violent gusts of wind. It was this unique occurrence that had given the caverns their infamous name.

However, the intervals between these surges varied. Sometimes, they happened every two weeks; other times, several months passed without incident. During his training there, he had witnessed it once and speculated about its cause.

Now, staring at the tornado before him, Baishi's suspicions were confirmed.

"If that's the case, then once the Spirit Gathering Array reaches its limit, the winds should subside."

Convinced of his theory, Baishi sat cross-legged nearby to recover his chakra, leaving the storm to rage unabated.

---

Time passed.

Before long, an hour slipped by. While Baishi had fully recovered, the tornado continued unabated.

Finally, after another fifteen minutes, the fierce winds began to dissipate. Within moments, the storm had vanished entirely.

"So, it's reached its limit?" Baishi murmured.

Activating his Heart's Eye ability, he probed the surrounding natural energy. As expected, while natural energy still flowed toward the spatial ring, the pace had slowed significantly.

This confirmed his suspicion: the Spirit Gathering Array had reached its full capacity.

"I wonder how dense the natural energy inside has become?"

Eager to find out, Baishi headed toward the remains of his hut. Picking up the spatial ring from the ground, he activated the Flying Thunder God: Guiding Thunder formula once more.

A black rift appeared, and Baishi stepped through.

---

Inside the Spatial Ring.

As soon as he emerged, Baishi was engulfed in an overwhelming wave of natural energy. The air was so rich and potent that he almost felt intoxicated.

For a brief moment, he swayed as though drunk on oxygen. Shaking his head to dispel the sensation, Baishi activated Heart's Eye once more to observe the natural energy density.

Moments later, a look of pure joy spread across his face.

The natural energy within the space was astonishingly abundant—easily rivaling the concentration found in the Demonic Howl Caverns. While it might not match the legendary Three Great Sage Regions, it far exceeded the meager levels found in the outside world.

Wasting no time, Baishi entered his training chamber and began absorbing the surrounding natural energy.

In the outside world, it would take him nearly an hour to enter Sage Mode at full capacity. Here…

Fifteen minutes later.

Baishi's aura shifted dramatically as the Sage markings appeared on his face.

It took only a quarter of the time to gather enough natural energy for Sage Mode. This meant his progress would accelerate even further.

With this realization, Baishi immediately began running tests.

---

The following afternoon.

Baishi opened his eyes, a trace of helplessness flickering within them.

The issue wasn't with the results—they exceeded expectations. The problem was his chakra reserves, which once again proved insufficient.

Yes, despite having both the Nine-Tails and the Five-Tails as energy reservoirs, his chakra still wasn't enough to fully utilize the potential of this haven of natural energy.

Initially, he had estimated that his enhanced energy absorption would triple his progress. In reality, it had only doubled.

"Well, I'll take what I can get," Baishi muttered with a resigned sigh. "Let's focus on completing the Fusion Evolution process first."

At present, his Cell Adaptability, Poison Resistance, and Heat Resistance had all reached their maximum levels: X (99.9%). Only Cold Resistance lagged behind.

"It's time to prepare."

After a brief moment of contemplation, Baishi closed his eyes and began replenishing his chakra. Once his reserves were full, he drew upon the abundant natural energy around him to generate Sage Chakra.

An hour later, fully prepared, he exited the spatial ring.

Standing atop a large boulder outside the newly rebuilt hut, Baishi sat cross-legged and focused on advancing his Ice Release abilities.

His current proficiency—Ice Release (III)—was too basic to create a suitable environment for developing Cold Resistance.

To resolve this, Baishi needed to elevate his Ice Release to a higher level, increasing its potential.

The stronger his Ice Release, the easier it would be to craft a chilling domain that could accelerate the progress of his Cold Resistance.

Naturally, other aspects of his evolution wouldn't be neglected during this time.
