Chapter 6: The Clash
Thanks to his subordinate Jowell Scone, they were alerted immediately when it happened. Jayde was led by Elior to the room where Jowell was. In the spacious room, there was a big center table with a holographic image of the island. At a corner in the hologram, there was a bright red dot on display. This was a manifestation of Jowell Scone's ability.
Jayde stood at the edge of the table, observing the region that was invaded, trying to discern the possibility that it wasn't a random straggler. He faced Jowell and asked, "Can you display the features of the invader?" Jowell nodded, immediately displaying the invader for all to see. As expected of an FFF+ class talent, it gave a detailed image of the trespasser.
Seeing the projected image, Jayde's expression changed as his pupils constricted. The trespasser was dressed oddly, with a bead-like skirt planted firmly around his waist. His body was adorned with all kinds of bead ornaments, and his black hair was tied back into a ponytail, flowing down his back. His skin was filled with tattoos. The reason why Jayde was having such a fierce reaction was that back in his previous life, before the sequence began, he was an archaeologist. He researched various ancient civilizations and their history. Back then, when the sequence started, ancient animal species like woolly mammoths, dinosaurs, and even mythic beasts like wyrms and qilins were revived. Because of this, various scholars suggested a theory that the same could happen with humans—that the sequence could revive ancient humans from past civilizations.
But with all the chaos and dungeon breaks that happened at the time, they hardly had time to confirm such a theory. Why was Jayde thinking back on this theory at this moment? The invader projected by Jowell's talent was clearly dressed and looked like a human of the ancient civilization of the Minoans!
This was an unprecedented discovery. Though there was a possibility that this was just a random man cosplaying, such a possibility was very low. The fine details in the tattoos of this man lowered such a possibility. Let's not even begin on the fact that who could be having time to cosplay in a time where chaos should be everywhere.
Though others might be thrilled at such a discovery, to Jayde, this was a grim discovery. In his previous life, even three years after the sequence, even at the third phase of the sequence, he had never heard of any sightings of ancient humans—no word from any ancient civilization. Back then, with his status in the government, there was little to no secret about Earth he wasn't privy to. So to discover such a thing now meant only one thing: the ancient humans were probably hiding and biding their time. But for what exactly? That he was going to find out.
He quickly directed everyone, "I'm going to go. To be safe, if you notice me losing, Elior, you know what to do." To which Elior quickly nodded. Jayde quickly moved to confront the trespasser. On his way, he checked his stats.

The past three days hadn't been for naught. His improvement was evident. It turned out none of the nine had stepped out of the portal. This showed how talented and skilled Jayde was for him to clear the dungeon in a day.
Jayde quickly exited his estate, his improved physical prowess coming into full display as he moved at an astounding speed, nearly reaching mach speed. One had to remember, due to his cultivation method, one of his circles was as potent as nine. As said previously, nine circles form a plane. So, when he condenses nine circles, it would be the same as nine planes. This expressed just how monstrous his physical prowess was.
Quickly, he navigated towards the invader, his head churning with various possibilities of why such an existence would come to his island. Finally, after a few minutes, the invader came into view.
Kalikun's tattoos pulsed a greenish light as he noticed someone incoming. He quickly faced the newcomer. His expression warped into a frown upon seeing it was a modern-time human. 'What is he doing here? The elders warned us to avoid being seen,' he thought. Now he would have to dispose of this human as he couldn't leave any witnesses to his existence.
His arm reached for his jagged-edge sickles as he prepared for combat. 'Who knew if this fellow was here for the tablet also? Doesn't that mean other modern humans may be aware of their plans? No, that can't be possible. This guy might just be here by coincidence.'
Jayde gazed at the Minoan before him. He quickly recalled their language, which he had once learned. He asked, albeit with an odd accent, "Who are you, and why are you here?"
Hearing Jayde speak his language, Kalikun's eyes glinted fiercely. 'The fact that I came across a human who can speak our language is too much of a coincidence. It seems they are onto us. I need to end this fast so that I can inform the rest.'
After having this thought, Kalikun burst into action, moving with inhuman speed. The jagged edge of his blade was inches from Jayde's neck. Jayde quickly reacted, trying to duck, but suddenly he froze. His body went still. Though this happened for just a split second, in a battle of this caliber, you might as well hand over your life for delaying like that.
Still, Jayde's prowess spoke for itself. He was able to react, moving backward as Kalikun's blade left a long line of blood on his neck. If he had reacted any slower, his carotid artery would have been severed. His heart was beating rapidly. The abrupt attack of the Minoan was dreadful. He just confirmed that whoever these ancient humans were, they definitely didn't have good motives. Thankfully, just now, the Minoan had used his ability, removing the element of surprise.
Jayde's back was matted with sweat as he thought of the cheat-like ability of this ancient human before him—the ability to bind your opponent. It sounded simple, but such an ability is the bane of all melee fighters. Even though the bind lasts for only a few seconds, a few seconds is a very long time in a battle of this caliber. The reason Jayde was able to break free after a few milliseconds was due to his abnormal physical prowess.
The two clashed once more as Jayde summoned two abyssal odachis from the shadows. Their weapons clashed, and they moved at inhuman speeds, leaving behind a series of blurs. Kalikun deployed his talent various times, leaving Jayde aggrieved as his random cast of bind disrupted his momentum. If not for his comprehension, it was pretty certain he would have lost.
As the two of them continued their furious exchange, Jayde's inspection caught sight of the Minoan's weapon grade.
[Vlad's Sickle (C+)]
As though in response, Jayde's weapons shattered, their fragments dissolving back into the shadows. This situation was tricky, as Jayde's ability only allowed him to create weapon grades directly proportional to his talent grade. So, anything he solidified from darkness would only have a resilience comparable to that of an EE-grade treasure. What This meant was obvious now he was at a disadvantage.
