Reborn in Konoha; I Think I’m Cultivating Immortality

Chapter 267: Chapter 267

The Eight Gates Formation was a method that lifted the body's natural restrictions on chakra, unleashing a surge of energy.

In the Naruto universe, chakra is extracted and flows through the body's meridian system.

However, this flow is not unhindered. There are specific points within the body that suppress and control chakra flow.

These points are referred to by ninja as "gates."

There are eight gates in total, starting from the head and running down the body:

Gate of OpeningGate of RestGate of LifeGate of PainGate of LimitGate of ViewGate of WonderGate of Death

The gates act as bottlenecks, restricting the amount of chakra that can flow within the body.

The Eight Gates Formation, however, forcibly overrides these restrictions, unlocking immense strength, even tens of times greater than one's normal capabilities.

But this comes at a cost. The user's body sustains severe damage during the process, making this technique one of the forbidden jutsu.

When all eight gates are opened, the resulting state is called the Eight Gates released Formation. In this state, the user can momentarily gain power surpassing that of the Five Kage, but the cost is death, as their life force is completely burned out.

This is the natural outcome—for most people.

In the original story, Might Guy survived opening all eight gates.

Though his body had withered to the brink of death, Naruto Uzumaki used the Six Paths Yang Power to restore his life force, breaking the cycle of death tied to the Eight Gates Formation.

Thus, opening all eight gates does not necessarily guarantee death. If one is powerful enough, they might treat this technique as a routine skill.

Hui had previously expressed his ambition to turn his self-created Sage Mode into a versatile skill with both passive and active components.

He already had clear ideas for the passive aspect, and it seemed feasible.

For the active skill, Hui's inspiration was the Eight Gates Formation.

Hui's vision for his Sage Mode was to use natural energy to "grind away" the barriers of the Eight Gates in the human body.

The Eight Gates Formation Technique, as it currently stands, is a jutsu that grants immense power at the expense of the user's body, with opening all eight gates leading to certain death.

But if the Six Paths Yang Power could counteract this outcome, allowing Might Guy to survive, doesn't that imply that for someone with a Six Paths-level physique, the technique could be used routinely?

Moreover, Hui had already mastered the Eight Gates Formation Technique. When he opened the first seven gates, his body suffered no significant damage. Even if there was minor damage, it healed almost instantly.

At most, opening the first seven gates left him feeling fatigued.

These examples suggest one thing:

The Eight Gates Formation can be normalized, or even… be permanently.

Yes, Hui's ambition was immense. He didn't just want to normalize the Eight Gates Formation Technique—he wanted to keep all eight gates permanently open!

This wasn't a pipe dream. It was a plausible goal supported by theoretical foundations.

Hui's fourth step in developing his Sage Mode was to evolve his body using natural energy.

Over time, the natural energy would "grind away" the barriers of the Eight Gates, leaving them permanently open.

The process of "grinding" the Eight Gates would itself become a form of cultivation.

As this cultivation progressed and the body grew stronger, it would eventually withstand the damage caused by opening the gates.

After cultivating Hui's Sage Mode, a person's body would gradually strengthen, allowing them to adapt to the damage caused by opening the gates, until they could fully ignore it.

Opening a single gate would allow the body to absorb more natural energy, improving its internal energy cycle. This, in turn, would provide the power needed to "grind away" the next gate.

Each gate would become a bottleneck in cultivation and represent a milestone.

The entire Eight Gates would divide Hui's Sage Mode cultivation into eight realms, creating a comprehensive system.

Hui had already decided on the names for each stage:

Before opening any gate: Zero-Stage SagePermanently opening the first gate: First-Stage SagePermanently opening the second gate: Second-Stage SageAnd so on, up to the Eighth-Stage Sage.

During the process of "grinding" the gates, cultivators could rely on their internal cycle or actively control it. This provided both a passive and active approach.

Besides natural energy, Senjutsu Chakra could also be used for cultivation since it contains natural energy.

Of course, individuals' talent levels vary. Some people's bodies absorb natural energy quickly, while others may require significantly more time.

Thus, Hui provided two options:

Those gifted with natural energy could focus on natural energy cultivation.

Those less adept could use Senjutsu Chakra, although it would be far less effective and much slower.

This was Hui's vision for Sage Mode.

If successful, it would revolutionize the training system of the entire ninja world.

In the current power hierarchy, the result might be a world where Super-Kage level ninjas are commonplace, and Kage-level ninjas are insignificant.

Only Six Paths-level individuals would qualify as true powerhouses.

However, this transformation would take decades to achieve, likely requiring 20–30 years. And that timeline would only start after Hui popularized his new Sage Mode.

This method was best suited for early training in childhood. The younger the body, the more malleable it is, and the "gates" are naturally weaker.

As a person ages, their body becomes less flexible, and these barriers grow more solid.

It was unrealistic for Hui to immediately implement this system across the entire ninja world. Naturally, he planned to prioritize Konoha.

Once the treaties with the Four Great Nations expired and Hui unified the ninja world, the rest of the world would gain access to this system.

"Whew. this is going to be an exhausting project. Even though I know I'll succeed in creating this technique, the pressure is immense," Hui muttered to himself.

He glanced at the long scrolls on his desk, feeling both overwhelmed and invigorated.

Unlike Hashirama Senju, who transformed the Warring States period into the village system era, Hui intended not only to establish a unified era but also to transition from the ninja era to the Sage era.

This transformation would be earth-shaking.

And it wouldn't stop at the ninja world.

As the Sage cultivators grew stronger, reaching Six Paths-level, they would launch the interstellar era, much like the Ōtsutsuki Clan, spreading across various life-bearing planets.

A confrontation with the entire Ōtsutsuki Clan seemed inevitable.

Thinking about it, Hui felt his blood boil.

Suppressing his excitement, he immersed himself in developing his Sage Mode.

In the last two months of his vacation, Hui decided to tackle the first step: creating a jutsu that allowed ordinary people to perceive natural energy.

Thinking about it, he couldn't help but feel excited.

Once this Sage Mode was complete, the ninja world would truly walk on a path of cultivation.
