Chapter 80: Chapter 77
Kaito couldn't contain his excitement upon hearing the news. His heart raced like a wild drumbeat, and he felt an almost overwhelming urge to shout to the heavens. The discovery was nothing short of miraculous. A breakthrough. A game-changer for his clan. The sheer magnitude of the potential they had uncovered left his thoughts spiralling. It was power—pure, renewable, and teeming with possibilities. Unlike the finite resources of the past, this new source promised growth and prosperity on a scale they had never dared to dream of.
The environment around him buzzed with the pulse of the village. The narrow pathways of the Uchiha compound were alive with activity. Children played games of tag, their laughter a stark contrast to the solemn training grounds where older clan members honed their techniques. Women chatted as they hung out freshly washed clothes, the fabric fluttering in the warm breeze like banners of peace. The faint smell of roasted chestnuts wafted through the air from a street vendor's cart. Yet, beneath this veneer of normalcy, a current of quiet tension thrummed. The civilians, though busy with their lives, wore expressions of careful observation. Even in peace, the Uchiha were ever watchful.
Kaito cradled the strange creature in his hands, its faint glow illuminating his determined face. The creature's energy pulsed faintly, a rhythmic hum that seemed almost alive. Kaito could hear the distant clang of metal as sparring sessions continued late into the evening. Despite his excitement, he forced himself to steady his breathing. This was a moment that demanded clarity, not recklessness.
Meanwhile, across the region, the air carried a sombre chill. The death of Yagura had reached the ears of Terumi Mei and Genshi. Despite the gravity of the news, they remained calm. Their chambers were modest yet elegant, overlooking a courtyard where mist swirled like a living entity. Mei gazed out of the window, her face unreadable.
"We expected this," she said, her tone steady. "Kaito's leadership is crucial. Without him, we would have faced chaos."
Genshi nodded, his hands clasped tightly. "He's proven his worth. Now we must prove ours."

At night, two figures quietly slipped into the Mist Ninja Village.
They moved cautiously along the outskirts, their eyes scanning for any signs of danger. Unfortunately, they ran into a patrol.
One of the cloaked figures reacted instantly, using an illusion technique to stun the Mist Ninja on the spot. They avoided any violence, knowing that the sight or smell of blood could draw unwanted attention.
Once the guard was incapacitated, they used the same technique to extract information.
The more they learned, the more their unease grew. One of the figures, upon hearing about the battle between Kaito and Yagura, broke into a cold sweat. He turned to his companion, his voice tense. "We need to leave now. Staying any longer is far too dangerous."
"If that man is here in the village and we're discovered, we won't make it out alive!"
The other figure nodded, though he hesitated, a note of frustration in his voice. "I can't believe how much has changed in just half a month. The Mist Ninja have been through so much."
He shook his head, his tone incredulous. "They've become so submissive. They're scared, even though they outnumber a single man."
He clenched his fists. "And none of this news has made it out of the Land of Water. The new Fifth Mizukage must be incredibly skilled to keep such tight control over information."
He paused, his eyes narrowing as he glanced at his companion. "And according to that guard's description, this new Mizukage might be as strong as our leader."
Finally, with a trace of irony in his voice, he added, "And to think, Itachi, he's one of your kin."
