Shadow Slave: Chain Breaker

"Forty one....forty two...and five hundred forty three."

Currently, Sunny was sitting on the eastern side of the great wall surrounding the dark city. The sun had long disappeared, and the dark sea rose again.

He closed the brown bag he was storing his awakened soul shards in.

[Hunters Bag]. It was a memory he got after killing one of the fallen spiders after luring them to fight Stone Saint and the other stone statues. This time, Sunny was able to stealthily get the last hit on every creature, getting a huge number of shadow fragments.

But Sunny was surprised to get a memory from one of the fallen spiders. Which helped him a lot. Considering he was carrying thousands of soul shards around.

After glacing at the brown bag for a while, he summoned its runes.

The space inside the [Hunters bag] was around a 1km in area. Which was pretty big. But a huge downside was that he can't return it to his soul sea unless it's empty. Otherwise, everything inside it would be lost.

It was interesting, nonetheless. Like how does everything inside it disappear. Where does it go to. But Sunny didn't have much free time to study its weave.

After buying the memories from Stev. Sunny snuck out the bright castle. Walking in the outer settlement that was empty.

After taking Gunlaug down from the throne, Nephis took his place, not Sunny. He didn't want to take responsibility for the lives of all the sleepers in the forgotten shore. But even while thinking that. Sunny still felt the responsibility to save them from this place. Perhaps it was from the fact that he's a regressor, or maybe it's because of what happened in Antarctica in his past life. Sunny didn't know.

After taking the throne. Nephis declared that everyone will be staying inside the bright castle, and from now on, she'll be responsible of bringing them food and even soul shards.

Although the people from the castle had their doubts and weren't comfortable. The people from the outer settlement looked at nephis as if she was an angel, not doubting her for a second.

And just like that, everyone is now inside the bright castle, and the outer settlement became empty.

It was the afternoon when Sunny left the bright castle. And by the time he reached the eastern wall. The sun had descended, making the dark sea rise again.

Sunny looked to the east. Looking at the headless statue that stood not too far away, its one remaining hand thrust toward the skies. Although it was so dark, Sunny could still see clearly as if it was the noon.

Of course, Sunny didn't come all the way here for no reason. He had a goal in mind. Which was relatively simple. Fight the fallen tyrant and kill it.

Well, Sunny's main goal wasn't killing the tyrant. Well, killing it would save the others a lot of trouble. But what Sunny really wanted to do was achieve the third step in his shadow dance legacy.

Although it would be nice claiming the shadow lantern. But currently, Sunny didn't have enough essence to use it. Rather, his goal was making Serpent become an Ascended.

That way, he'd increase his overall power and save more people.

Over the past 5 months. Sunny fought thousands of nightmare creatures. But even knowing the principles on how to achieve the third step. He couldn't quite reach it. It felt like he was on the verge of reaching it, but somehow, he never did.

Sunny suspected that the reason is due to the weak and brainless nightmare creatures. Or to the fact that he didn't struggle too much against the nightmare creatures. Unlike when he fought with Nightmare. When they kept fighting in an endless nightmares.

Although it was a big risk to take. Considering that if his plan didn't work, he would be in grave danger.

But even if the situation was dangerous. It's not like Sunny didn't fight stronger nightmare creatures than him before. And even then, he survived his fights and got out as the victor.

"Let's just hope everything goes as planned" with a murmur. Sunny laid down and the hard floor and closed his eyes.

Sunny opened his eyes slowly as he got up and stretched his body. The sun has appeared a while ago on the horizon, and the dark sea was nowhere to be seen.

Wasting no time, he started moving towards the base of the priestess statue. After a while, he was standing at the hand of the statue that fell thousands of years ago.

Without the need to send his shadow. Sunny could already feel all the shadows inside the room. Using them as his eyes, he saw the lord of the dead in his deep slumber.

After descending in the underground chamber secretly. Not alerting the sleeping tyrant at all, something caught Sunny's eyes. A weak golden glow was emanating from a small, partially concealed object. Sunny knew exactly what it was, his lips curled up a little.

Enveloping himself in his five shadows, Sunny shot forward to where the glow came from. Suddenly, two white limps shot out from the tyrant's body. Sunny already knew that was coming. So, in the last second. Sunny leaned back and slid right under the two limps.

Reaching the base of the gargantuan abomination. Sunny thrusted his right hand and closed his fist on the concealed object. In the same moment, he quickly dashed backward as another limp shot out from where Sunny was.

After making some distance between him and the lord of the dead. He saw something in his right arm.

Sunny found an enormous leech on his forearm. But unlike before. The leech couldn't penetrate Sunny's armor.

Sunny chuckled while looking at it. He quickly summoned the Moonlight Shard, which appeared in the same moment. Unlike before, where he killed the corpse eater by [blood weave]. Sunny was able to kill it easily now without using any of those tricks. Stabbing the fallen beast, the Spell voice echoed in Sunny's head.

[You have slain.....]

But before he could listen, he quickly bent his torso as another white limp shot towards him.

'This damned thing, it seems that it has awaken faster than I expected.' Sunny clicked his tongue as he watched a huge number of limps coming out of the tyrant's body.

He was able to avoid most of them, but some of them hit him with a strong force that sent him flying across the chamber and slamming in one of its walls.

Even then, the white limb didn't penetrate the mantle of the underworld. But even so, Sunny was sure that his skin was bruised from the strong force.

Sunny smirked widely as he looked at the fallen tyrant. It's been quite a while since Sunny needed to put in all his power to fight a nightmare creature.

Most of the creatures in the labyrinth were mostly awakened beasts or monsters, and on rare occasions, he would run into fallen beasts or awakened demons. Which after forming his third core and becoming a demon, they weren't a big threat.

But Sunny never let his guard down. The dream realm was a dangerous place that even with the slightest mistakes, the strongest could die.

"Bring it on! You ugly bastard!"

Just like that, Sunny kept dodging and delivering fast slashes into the hundreds of white limps. Gradually, Sunny started losing himself. Focusing on the fallen tyrant. Sunny started feeling its wrath, its madness, its hatred. Everything about it, the flow of essence, the way the limps shot out of his body.

'Remember, Lost from Light. I am Lost from Light!' Just as Sunny thought of these words. A familiar voice whispered in his ear.

[You Aspect Legacy mastery has increased.]

[You have received the right to claim a Legacy Relic.]

[..Your Shadow has evolved.]

Just as Sunny heard these words. The odachi in his hand stirred. Suddenly, Sunny felt the odachi in his hands changing. It felt like it got ridiculously stronger and more fearsome than a moment ago, making him feel as if he was using a kitchen knife. Unlike now, where the blade in his hand let out a cold and fearsome aura.

Sunny's expression turned into a sinister smile that was filled with madness. He augmented all his five shadows into his odachi. Before, he was using one of his shadows on his body, and the other four shadows were equally divided between Serpent and the mantle of the underworld

But now, all his shadows were enveloping Serpent.

All the white limps that shot towards him were all sliced easily. Hurriedly, Sunny dashed towards the gargantuan abomination, slicing all its limps that came in his way.

A moment later, he was at its body, slashing it with fast and strong slashes. After a ton of slashes, Sunny finally reached the core of the tyrant body. Which was made of human skulls and coagulated blood.

With one strong push, Sunny peirced its core. The mountain of bones froze, and then it shuddered. And then, it crumbled.

[You have slain a fallen tyrant: Lord of the dead]

[Your shadow grows stronger]

[You have received a Memory: Starlight Shard]

An exhaustive sigh left Sunny's body. He didn't feel it because he was too focused on the battle. But now, his whole body was in terrible pain. Some cracks were formed on his armor, and everywhere in his skin he was bruised. Although the underworld mantle protected him from getting peirced, he still got bruises from the impactful forces from the Tyrant's limps.

Sunny felt his consciousness fading away. He quickly summoned Saint and let Serpent go back to his original form.

"Take me up the statue."

And with that, Sunny fell in deep slumber.
