LIGHT NOVEL Chapter 118: Asgard
As they arrived in Asgard, the group saw Heimdall kneeling before them. Thor rushed to him as Heimdall said, "Go, his Majesty is in danger."
Thor nodded and turned to look at Dave and the others. "Please feel free to explore while I take care of this," he said before flying toward the grand castle. As he did, Volstagg emerged from the Bifrost, the portal vanishing behind him.
"This is Asgard," Volstagg said, his voice echoing through the massive, golden kingdom.
"It's... beautiful," Dave remarked, as Diana added, "It's incredible."
Black widow also looked around in awe while she also secretly recorded all of it, knowing Fury would want this intel.
While Thor rushed to the castle, the scene shifted to a more troubling one. There, Thor's mother-Frigga was seen defending the sleeping Odin against the Frost Giants who were brought here by Loki, but Laufrey, the King of the Frost Giants, suddenly smacked her aside. Other Frost Giants rushed in and holds her down.
Laufrey, on the other hand, walked up to the sleeping Odin. Looking down at him, he murmured, "The All-Father is all-seeing," as ice daggers began to form in his hands.
"I hope it's true," he said, lifting the dagger, pointing it at Odin. "Because I want you to know that you're both going to be killed by me—Laufrey, King of the Frost Giants."
But just as he was about to strike, there was a clang!
Loki, appearing in the doorway, blasted a powerful laser from his hand that sent Laufrey flying. "And you will be killed by me," Loki declared, sending another blast at still disoriented Laufrey killing him on the spot.
Then he also killed the two Frost giants guard holding his mother too, Frigga seeing this stood up as she hugged Loki "thankfully you are here" she said as Loki hugged her back.
Frigga, in pain, sobbed, "Don't cry, mother," Loki said, his voice softer than before. "I swear, mother, they will pay for this."
Suddenly, Thor entered the scene, his eyes blazing with anger. He looked at Loki, and said "Loki"
Seeing him Frigga rushed at him hugging him "Thor!!, I know you will come back" she said while Thor nodded "yes mother I am back "he said as he turned to Loki.
"What did you tell her, Loki? did you tell mother how you tried to kill me?" Thor shouted, pointing his hammer at his brother.
"What?" Frigga asked, as she stepped forward. She looked at Loki with confusion. "Why did you do this?" she asked, her voice trembling.
"No, it must be father's last order," Loki said, his tone cold, as Thor scoffed.
"You lie so convincingly, brother, like always," Thor shot back, glaring at him.
"Good to see you too," Loki smirked.
"Now, if I may have permission, I'm going to destroy Jotunheim," Loki said, casually blasting Thor out of the room. He left the chamber too, heading toward the Bifrost.
As he was walking toward the portal, he stopped when he saw Dave standing there. "Why are you here?" Loki asked, his eyes narrowing.
"Just waiting here until Thor takes care of you, but it seems he failed" Dave said with a shrug, though he seemed unfazed by the tense atmosphere.
Knowing the original plot where Thor ends up destroying the Bifrost he remained here while other left to go to Asgard, he don't want it destroyed or how he will return back to earth after learning Asgardian magic here.
Loki pointed his scepter at him. "Step aside, mortal," he ordered, but Dave crossed his arms and smirked. "Make me," he said, unfazed.
Loki sighed, raising his scepter and waving it. A golden blast of magic shot toward Dave. However, Dave effortlessly dodged it, the blast passing harmlessly by him, dissipating into the air.
"Is that it?" Dave asked, raising an eyebrow. Loki stared at him in disbelief.
"I see you are more than just a mortal," Loki said, his voice dripping with a mixture of confusion and disbelief. His eyes narrowed as he tapped his scepter, causing illusions of himself to appear around Dave. Each illusion mimicked Loki's movements perfectly, encircling Dave in an ethereal swarm. Loki's grin returned as he thought he had the upper hand once more.
"You save one move, but how will you fare against the countless illusions?" Loki taunted, his voice thick with arrogance. His illusions began to converge on Dave, each casting a series of attacks, aiming to overwhelm him with the sheer numbers. It seemed like a well-crafted trap, one Loki was confident would work against any foe.
However, Dave remained unphased, his eyes still filled with a quiet calmness. The moment Loki's illusions closed in, Dave simply lifted his hand, showing it incased in white translucent glow and snapped his fingers.
His seemingly simple action sent a shockwave that disrupted the illusions, sending the real Loki flying back. He coughed up blood as the shockwave rattled his internal organs.
"What are you?" Loki asked, his voice filled with disbelief and pain, as he looked at Dave.
"I'm a mortal," Dave replied simply, his tone calm.
Loki gritted his teeth, feeling mocked, but he pushed himself to his feet, ready to attack him again, when Thor arrived.
"Leave it, brother, you've lost," Thor said, his voice stern as he looked at Loki.
"No," Loki growled, shaking his head. "I haven't! I will destroy Jotunheim, and show Father what I'm capable of!"
He raised his scepter, his eyes burning with anger. "Destruction is the only thing that will make you understand, Thor. You won't be able to stand against me once I unleash it."
Thor stood his ground, shaking his head. "I know, Loki. You always think destruction is the answer, but it never brings you peace."
Loki sneered. "You don't understand! You never have!"
He swung his scepter at Dave, the energy crackling with dangerous magic. "Now stand aside!"
But Dave stood his ground, crossing his arms, an unwavering calm in his eyes. "Make me," he said, his voice challenging.
Loki, his anger rising, summoned a blast of magic. "You think you can stop me?!" he shouted.
As the blast flew toward Dave, he casually raised his hand and blocked it with ease. The blast dissipated against an invisible force that surrounded him, leaving Loki stunned.
