The Accidental Savior

Chapter 5: Decisions and Doors

Nick Romero stood in the glowing expanse of the Nexus Chamber, surrounded by a dizzying array of doors that stretched as far as the eye could see. Each one pulsed with its own unique energy, the patterns and colors on their surfaces hinting at the worlds they led to.

"Okay," Nick muttered, rubbing his small, seven-year-old temples. "So you're telling me that behind one of these doors, there's a world where I could be roasted by a dragon, another where I'll probably get isekai'd inside an isekai, and maybe, just maybe, one where I don't die in the first five minutes?"

The Good God appeared beside him, their radiance calm and steady. "Each door leads to a world that holds both opportunities and challenges. However, you may only choose two to begin your journey."

Nick spun around, throwing his arms wide. "Out of all these? Two? How is this fair? That's like walking into a buffet and only being allowed to eat breadsticks!"

"Your connection to the multiverse is still fragile," the Good God replied patiently. "Limiting your choices ensures stability."

Nick sighed, muttering under his breath. "Great. Trial membership multiverse edition."

The Good God gestured toward the nearest cluster of doors. "These worlds have been selected for their potential to foster growth at your current stage."

Nick frowned, eyeing the options. "Wait. Are we talking physical growth or emotional trauma? Because I've seen some of these stories, and let's just say I don't want to end up as monster chow."

The Good God remained silent, clearly leaving the decision to him. Nick groaned and started pacing, inspecting the doors while mumbling to himself.

The Tensura: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Door

A glowing blue door with a faint image of a slime bouncing across its surface. Nick squinted at the door. "Okay, Rimuru's cool and all, but aren't they literally building a monster utopia right now? If I'm seven, that means it's still early days, and I'm not sure I want to be around when the ogres show up swinging giant swords."

The Overlord Door

A dark, ominous door with glowing red eyes peeking from its edges. Nick stepped back cautiously. "Nope. Nope. Nope. I'm not setting foot in Ainz's world as a kid. I'd be lucky to last five minutes before Demiurge decides I'd make a nice ingredient for some evil stew."

The Mushoku Tensei Door

A rustic wooden door with a faint engraving of a staff and a sword crossed. Nick hesitated. "Rudy's seven at the start, right? So I'd probably end up in some farm village learning magic basics. That doesn't sound too bad... unless I run into Roxy and embarrass myself trying to keep up."

The Re:Zero Door

A door covered in frost and shadow, the faint emblem of a white-haired maiden etched into the center. Nick shuddered. "Let's see. Seven years old, no combat experience, and stuck in a world where you have to die repeatedly to solve problems. Yeah, hard pass. I'd end up traumatized before the first loop ended."

The Konosuba Door

A swirling blue door with an explosion etched across its surface. Nick tilted his head. "Hmm. Seven-year-old me in a world with Megumin and Kazuma? I could probably survive if I stay out of Aqua's way. Then again, knowing my luck, I'd end up cleaning Eris' temple for pocket change."

The DanMachi Door

A pale blue door with a faint image of Orario's tower glowing softly. Nick frowned. "Okay, let's think this through. Seven years old means Bell's also seven. So... this is during Orario's dark period. Monster attacks, political chaos, and zero dungeon crawling. Great. This is going to be a disaster."

The Shield Hero Door

A door with an emerald green shield etched across its surface, faint ripples of energy emanating from it. Nick stepped closer, intrigued. "I mean, Naofumi's not exactly having the best time at this point, but at least I wouldn't be the target of a kingdom-wide smear campaign. Probably."

The Fairy Tail Door

A fiery red door with the Fairy Tail emblem glowing brightly. Nick grinned. "Now this one's promising. They take kids into the guild, magic is everywhere, and there's no immediate death threat. Plus, I get to hang out with Natsu and eat giant turkey legs. Win-win." The Wives System Weighs In

As Nick deliberated, the Wives System AI buzzed to life again, its cheerful voice filling the chamber.

"Reminder: Several worlds contain individuals with high compatibility for the Wives System! Forming bonds increases growth potential!"

Nick scowled at the glowing screen that hovered beside him. "Yeah, yeah, I get it. Who's on the list this time?"

The AI listed calmly:

Tensura: "Medium compatibility detected. Notable individuals include Shion, Shuna, and Milim."

Fairy Tail: "High compatibility detected. Notable individuals include Erza Scarlet, Lucy Heartfilia, and Mirajane Strauss."

DanMachi: "High compatibility detected. Notable individuals include Hestia, Ais Wallenstein, and Freya."

Nick groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. "Stop giving me a dating profile rundown! I'm trying to focus here!"

The AI chirped, "Providing data to enhance decision-making efficiency!"

Nick muttered under his breath, "More like efficiency in embarrassing me to death."

After much pacing, muttering, and glaring at the Wives System, Nick finally turned to the Good God.

"Alright," he said. "Fairy Tail is a no-brainer. Magic, camaraderie, and nobody's asking me to fight a world-ending monster on day one. Plus, they're cool with kids in the guild."

The Fairy Tail door glowed brighter as Nick made his choice.

"And for the second one..." Nick hesitated, glancing at the DanMachi door. "I mean, it's risky, but the falna system is way too good to pass up. Even if Bell's still in training pants, Orario has potential."

The DanMachi door shimmered, its soft blue light intensifying.

The Good God nodded approvingly. "Excellent choices. These worlds will provide the growth you need to face the challenges ahead."

Nick let out a long sigh. "Alright, let's do this. But if Bell Cranel gets me killed, I'm coming back to haunt you."

The Good God's light flickered faintly, almost like a chuckle. "May your journey be fruitful, Nick Romero."

With a deep breath, Nick stepped toward the Fairy Tail door, ready to face whatever chaos awaited him.
