The Earth After Rebirth

Chapter 461: Training to be in Sync

She stood atop a small hill, looking down on hundreds of people. Her heart was wavering, albeit a little, she was raised to be a strong leader but she always ran away from that responsibility. Now here was a whole platoon, waiting for her to lead them as the guardian she was.

Isla had a lot of strong individuals in her squad, she didn't doubt them but they didn't know what was coming so the nerves were just about to overcome her. Kiro had given her LJ, a newbie she would need to look after since she had also taken her under her wing, them being archers and everything.

She was also hoping for more blood potions, since drinking them made players evolve into a much higher plane of strength but that would take time. While Hiro had mastered the potion, he still needed to brew it and that took time and resources so they needed to make due.

"Listen up everyone," She started without a hint of hesitation in her voice masking her concerns very well. "I'd like you to further group yourselves into teams. Each team will have an archer, damage dealer, healer and a tank. We will start training like this, we don't have a lot of time so please take this seriously."

A hand shot up immediately and it wasn't anyone she recognised.

"Yes?"

"Yeah, my name is Jacob. I'd like to ask what's the use of grouping us further? Wouldn't it be better to attack as the large group we are?"

Isla nervously chuckled which made the boy asking the question frown, a little embarrassed.

"Sorry, your question is good. Attacking as this large group is not practical, unless you're completely certain your attacks will not touch your allies?

"Obviously we will still be closely together in the battlefield but I'd like for us to be divided for this reason and for the fact that we will be killing more harbingers this way, as opposed to going after one harbinger as a large group, four people will be dealing with a single harbinger which I think is quite fair?"

The boy nodded in understanding, after that there were no more questions. Everyone starting grouping themselves accordingly. And if they were friends whom played this game before, that was even better, something Isla preferred because it meant they already knew each other's fighting styles making them more in sync.

They were in teams of four in no time. They were not yet used to the workings of Kaos but everyone was pretty much in stable condition. The intense training started, archers stood on the same side with healers while damage dealers and tankers were on the other side. Find your next read on empire

Isla's plan was to use them as target practice while they tried to deflect or even tank the attacks raining their ways. It was a proper way to train the archers to be able to hit moving objects.

It also served great for those who will be fighting in close quarters. Especially the tankers, Isla stood right behind the first line.

"Ready archers?" She screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Ready!" They screamed back.

"Fire!"

All at the same time, a rain of arrows shot from one side, defying the winds and every force attempting to drag them out of their course, those who shot at damage dealers were naturally met with resistance. With each one bringing out a weapon while others activated their skills to counter the oncoming attacks.

Only half of the tanks had shields others hardened their bodies to receive the blow head to head, Isla thought it was very dangerous to do it like this but she didn't stop it because they had priests at the ready and Hiro had given each squad healing potions in abundance.

Isla didn't bother shooting, she thought it would be unfair since she was a guardian, she also didn't want to risk causing any of their deaths since losing levels at this time would be counterproductive to their conviction.

They still had no idea what happened when one died after that update and to be honest, they really didn't want to find out. They rather risked it by dying by harbingers instead of wasting someone's progress for a test run.

Almost every single one of those that tried to intercept or tank the arrows were successful. Which spoke on how much weaker the archers were. Isla had expected much more from them.

"Listen up archers, if you aren't going to take this seriously log off right now. You can't just draw the arrow as is, you have to be your weapon, talk to it, listen to it, embed a little bit of energy to it. Make it harder for them to dodge it, make it harder for them to tank it, hell hit them, hit them hard, there are plenty of potions."

Isla seemed to have lit a fire under them, they all stood with eyes closed for a moment fiddling with the new foreign energy that the character sheet had named Kaos, none of them replied to her but their expressions were enough.

Once again, she commanded for them to attack. Drawing their arrows, they didn't let go immediately, some managed to coat their arrows with Kaos some failed but none of them despair as they let go, all at almost the same time.

Isla was sure she could see the arrows with Kaos but barely, they were moving at such amazing speeds.

"Too fast!" She whispered to herself.

This was further proven by the fact the targets didn't know how to avoid the attacks as they came faster than they could think, a good number of them fell on the group with an arrow that pierced through their bodies and into the trees behind.

"Priests, don't snooze on the job!"

"R-right!"

It went like this for some hours, the more they did this, the more they grew in strength. The close quarter combatants were also learning to use Kaos to their advantage, the arrows weren't hitting them quite frequently anymore.

Isla was still shouting orders when they all felt it, pure dread that made them stop on their tracks.
