Chapter 215 - Unable to escape
Before leaving, Mai Dongzi had instructed the two military cadets not to disclose any information about the army intercepting the spaceship or the National Security Bureau personnel arriving in two days to investigate. This was classified.
So, at first, the two cadets firmly refused to let the security team enter their room.
However, the security team, when coming to find the two cadets, had clearly done their homework. They wouldn’t search a customer’s room without reason.
After the cadets refused entry, the security team didn’t force their way in. Instead, they showed the two cadets the video footage from outside the room, clearly indicating that eleven mercenaries had entered the room and never came out. They were ordered to find out the mercenaries’ whereabouts.
With the video evidence in hand, and since the security team’s attitude was initially polite, the cadets realized that if they refused again, it could lead to conflict, and they were in no position to stop the security team from searching the room.
The eleven unconscious mercenaries were still lying in their training room. Since the cadets couldn’t make the mercenaries disappear, the security team quickly found them.
When the security team saw the eleven mercenaries, bound and unconscious in the training room, their faces changed dramatically. Their weapons immediately aimed at the cadets.
However, because the cadets presented their First Military Academy student IDs, the security team didn’t immediately arrest them. Instead, they asked why they had done this.
The two cadets cleverly explained that the mercenaries had attempted to rob them, so they had used drugs to knock them out, intending to hand them over to the Third Army Group personnel when the spaceship docked at the space station.
Upon hearing that the two cadets were from the Third Army Group, the security team insisted they contact the Third Army Group to verify their claim.
Mai Dongzi didn’t know exactly who the two military cadets were contacting from the Third Army Group, but the person they were in touch with was likely someone of high rank.
After the security team leader communicated with that person, he immediately signaled for the security team to lower their weapons, clearly indicating that they no longer considered the two cadets to be criminals.
She heard that the two cadets were on a training mission for the Third Army Group, and Mai Dongzi wasn’t surprised at all.
Since they were military cadets, and the Third Army Group’s headquarters was nearby, if they were going for military training, it was bound to be with the Third Army Group.
The two cadets had solved the issue with the captured mercenaries using their own abilities, and they managed to avoid being treated as criminals by the spaceship’s security team.
However, a new problem arose. Even though the security team didn’t regard the cadets as criminals, they were adamant about not leaving the eleven mercenaries in the cadets’ room.
They insisted that the incident had occurred on their spaceship, so they had to investigate it themselves.
These mercenaries were involved in serious crimes related to carrying parasite beasts, and there could be an unknown network behind them, making the situation critical. The cadets couldn’t trust the spaceship’s security team, who didn’t know the full context, to take the mercenaries away. So, they firmly refused to let the security team take them.
The situation became a deadlock. Seeing this, the two cadets cleverly pulled out metal boxes from the mercenaries they had knocked out later and hid them.
Just as Mai Dongzi was about to send a message to the cadets telling them to hand over the mercenaries to the security team but to avoid saying anything unnecessary, she “saw” the security team leader receive a message. After reading it, he looked up at the cadets and asked, “You have two more accomplices. Where are they now?”
The security team’s leader’s question made Mai Dongzi alert, but before she could think of a response, her sense of caution turned into a headache.
Because she “saw” another team of security guards heading toward the room she was in, and with the previous question from the team leader, Mai Dongzi was certain that this team of guards was coming for her.
This team of security guards wore uniforms slightly different from the ones worn by the cadets’ security team, making it clear that they were of a higher rank.
When the security team entered the corridor and it became obvious that they were coming for her, Mai Dongzi told Zhuang Huaiya: “The spaceship’s security team has arrived.”
“Did the people in the monitoring room see us knock out these mercenaries? What should we do now?” Zhuang Huaiya asked.
His cousin had a high status and wasn’t afraid of the security team seeing the mercenaries in the room, so Zhuang Huaiya remained calm and composed.
“Do nothing. Especially, do not reveal anything about the parasite beasts. Let’s observe the situation first and try to delay for five hours,” Mai Dongzi replied.
Zhuang Huaiya nodded. Just as he was about to say something, the pleasant sound of the doorbell rang.
Zhuang Huaiya stopped speaking and moved to open the door, but Mai Dongzi stopped him and went to open it herself.
When the door opened, there were more than a dozen security guards outside. Except for the leader, the others had their guns pointed at the door.
Despite having so many guns pointed at her, Mai Dongzi remained calm, as if the guns were mere toys.
Once the leader saw that it was Mai Dongzi who opened the door, he motioned for the guards to lower their weapons, and immediately, the guns were pointed down toward the ground.
“Miss Xi, our captain wants to see you,” the middle-aged man said.
This middle-aged man was a level seven practitioner, which is considered a high-level cultivator. High-level cultivators in any industry would command high salaries, so this man could not simply be a security team leader.
Mai Dongzi had already suspected that this person might be the captain’s attendant. After hearing his words, she was certain of his identity.
A captain who could afford to employ a level seven cultivator as an attendant was likely a direct descendant of the Wu family. After all, even if someone could afford the cost, not just anyone would have the ability to recruit a level seven cultivator as an attendant.
“Your captain is…?” Mai Dongzi hesitated to ask, but her instincts had already provided the answer.
“Count Wu Youqi. I’m the Count’s butler. You can call me Wu Bo, Miss Xi,” the level seven cultivator said.
Wu Bo’s attitude toward her was unusually polite, and it wasn’t just something that Mai Dongzi felt—there was a look of surprise on the faces of the dozen or so security guards behind him, indicating that they too were astonished by Wu Bo’s attitude toward her.
Mai Dongzi suspected that Wu Bo likely knew about her dealings with Wu Yongzhang, which was why he was being so courteous toward her.
After all, Wu Yongzhang was one of the elite disciples of the younger generation in the Wu family. Now that his cultivation potential had risen to 3A, his future achievements would be even higher, and the strength of the Wu family would grow accordingly.
What surprised Mai Dongzi even more was that Wu Youqi was actually on this civilian ship. A person like him should have been traveling on a private starship, not a commercial one.
“These mercenaries are criminals and must be guarded. They will need to be handed over to the National Security Bureau when the time comes,” Mai Dongzi thought for a moment and then truthfully told Wu Bo.
