Uchiha Gate: From Konoha to One Piece

Chapter 79: Tashigi & Kuina are Twins??

-----

"Good! As long as you understand, I'm relieved!"

"You're truly a dependable kid!"

"Keep working hard! I'm looking forward to the day you become the world's greatest swordsman!"

"That was my dream once too…"

"Unfortunately, I couldn't achieve it."

"But maybe, just maybe, you will."

"No, you definitely will!"

Koshiro gazed at the distant sky with a nostalgic look, lost in thought for a while before turning back to Kaito with eyes full of expectation.

"Oh?"

Kaito raised an eyebrow, surprised. "Sensei, that was your dream? Why did you give up on it?"

Koshiro smiled faintly, once again lost in his memories. His expression alternated between sorrow and happiness before settling into a contented smile.

Finally, he turned to Kaito and said, "Because I found something more important than that dream."

Kaito's brow furrowed slightly as he guessed, "Could it be… love and family?"

"Hm?"

Koshiro looked at Kaito, surprised. "Why would you think that?"

He realized he didn't understand this disciple of his as well as he thought.

Not only was this kid monstrously talented, but his thoughts were mature and grounded, with unique insights about the world.

For a six- or seven-year-old, it was almost unbelievable.

Koshiro had a gut feeling that this kid was destined to shake the world someday—maybe even change it.

"Because I saw sadness and happiness on your face just now," Kaito replied seriously.

"It's clear that you've got a story to tell, Sensei."

"And I've noticed how much you care for Kuina, but sometimes there's a hint of guilt in your expression. I'm guessing something unfortunate happened with her mother?"

These weren't baseless assumptions—Kaito had genuinely observed these things.

"You're sharp, I'll give you that," Koshiro said with a wry smile. "Alright, Kaito, do you want to hear my story?"

Kaito made a gesture inviting him to continue, his curiosity piqued.

He was genuinely interested in his teacher's past.

"Over a decade ago…"

Koshiro smiled softly and began reminiscing, speaking as he recalled his youth.

The story was a bit cliché, honestly.

Back when he was young, Koshiro set sail with the dream of becoming the world's greatest swordsman.

He traveled far and wide, challenging swordsmen and honing his skills.

During those travels, he met someone special—his other half.

And during that time, they had their own love story, which resulted in…

"Two adorable twin daughters…"

"Huh?!"

Kaito's eyes widened, his mouth hanging open in shock. "Sensei, are you saying you have two daughters? And they're twins? Are you sure?"

Koshiro's forehead twitched as he glared at Kaito, gritting his teeth. "Are you doubting me, kid? You think I wouldn't know how many daughters I have?"

In that moment, Koshiro's nostalgic mood was utterly ruined.

He felt a strong urge to smack his disciple.

"No, no! That's not what I meant!"

Kaito quickly waved his hands, trying to explain.

"It's just… I saw a girl in Loguetown who looks almost exactly like Kuina."

"At first, I thought it was just a coincidence!"

"But now, hearing you say you have two daughters—twins no less—I can't help but wonder if that girl in Loguetown might be your other daughter?"

This was a massive revelation.

Kaito couldn't believe that Tashigi might actually be his teacher's daughter.

Back in his previous life watching the anime, people thought her resemblance to Kuina was just a coincidence or deliberate design.

But now, in this world, it seemed entirely possible that Tashigi was Kuina's twin sister.

Yes, Kaito had been to Loguetown.

It was back when the map for Loguetown was unlocked, and he had convinced his mother to take him there.

At that time, Smoker wasn't yet the Marine commander of Loguetown.

"What?! Are you serious?"

Koshiro's expression changed drastically as he grabbed Kaito's shoulders and pressed him for details.

"You're saying you really saw a girl in Loguetown who's about Kuina's age and looks just like her?"

"Did you notice anything else?"

Seeing Koshiro's intense reaction, Kaito couldn't help but feel there was an even bigger story here.

He nodded immediately. "I'm serious! And there was also a young woman with her at the time."

"Sensei, could that woman be… her mother?"

Kaito's curiosity was written all over his face as he asked.

Koshiro froze for a moment before letting out a long sigh.

After a pause, he nodded. "If your information is accurate, then it must be her."

"We separated years ago due to some misunderstandings…"

"I took Kuina with me, while she kept the other twin…"

"I never thought she'd stay in Loguetown all this time."

That was where they had first met, after all.

Now, Koshiro deeply regretted never going back to Loguetown to look for them.

He hadn't even tried once.

"Damn it," he muttered, his voice filled with remorse.

"No! I have to find her right now!"

Koshiro was instantly filled with determination. Letting go of Kaito, he was ready to set off.

"Wait, Sensei! Hold on!" Kaito quickly stopped him. "I have the coordinates to where they are. I can take you there instantly, no need to waste time traveling!"

"Really?" Koshiro froze in his tracks, his face lighting up with excitement.

"Really!" Kaito nodded firmly. "Do you want to leave right now?"

"Yes! Please, let's go!" Koshiro nodded eagerly, gratitude evident in his tone.

"Alright, here we go!"

Kaito grabbed Koshiro's arm and, with a single thought, they vanished from Shimotsuki Village, reappearing at the edge of a secluded forest near Loguetown.

"We're here, Sensei!" Kaito said. "But as for actually finding them, that's on you now. I only ran into them briefly on a street, so I don't know exactly where they're staying."

"This is more than enough!" Koshiro replied confidently. "As long as they're still on this island, I can find them with my Observation Haki!"

Closing his eyes, Koshiro focused. Moments later, his eyes snapped open. "I've got them! Let's go!"

Without hesitation, Koshiro wrapped an arm around Kaito, and with a whoosh, they disappeared, racing towards their destination at incredible speed.

The sheer velocity made Kaito's hair whip wildly in the wind, his face feeling like it might peel off. Struggling against the discomfort, he quickly formed a chakra barrier around his face, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.

After a few minutes, Koshiro came to a sudden halt in front of a small courtyard. Standing frozen at the gate, he stared inside at a woman seated with a little girl in her arms. The woman seemed frail, coughing softly, but her presence hit Koshiro like a tidal wave.

"L-Lisa..." he whispered, his voice trembling as his lips quivered.

"Hmm?"

The woman in the courtyard turned her head at the familiar voice. When her gaze landed on Koshiro, her eyes widened in disbelief, and a surge of emotions flickered across her face.

She opened her mouth as if to speak, but after a moment's hesitation, she turned her head away, feigning anger.

"So... you're still mad at me, huh?" Koshiro let out a bitter smile and pushed the gate open, stepping into the courtyard.

"What are you doing here? Get out!" Lisa snapped, glaring at him over her shoulder.

But Koshiro wasn't deterred. With a mix of thick skin and genuine regret, he walked up to her, his voice low and sincere.

"Lisa, don't be like this. I was wrong back then. I should never have chased after some foolish dream while ignoring your feelings."

"I've realized my mistake. I gave up on that dream, opened a dojo on a small island, and dedicated myself to teaching and raising Kuina."

"Please, forgive me."

"Kuina misses you so much. She asks about you all the time, wondering where you've gone..."

His voice cracked slightly. Today, no matter what, he was determined to bring his wife and daughter back home. It was time to right the wrongs of his past.

Lisa's expression softened briefly, a flicker of surprise in her eyes. She hadn't expected Koshiro to abandon his dream or make such a drastic change.

"You..." she began, but a fit of coughing interrupted her.

The little girl in her arms, curious but shy, peeked at Koshiro through her bangs, her small hands gripping Lisa's sleeve tightly.

"Lisa! Are you okay? I'll take you to a doctor right now!" Koshiro's heart clenched as he noticed how pale and frail she looked compared to the vibrant woman he'd fallen in love with.

Back then, Lisa had been a swordsman of exceptional skill, just like him. It was their shared passion for swordsmanship that had brought them together in the first place.

Now, seeing her so weak, he couldn't help but feel an overwhelming wave of guilt and determination.

"Sensei, let me take a look," Kaito stepped forward, his voice calm yet firm.

"Right! Kaito, check on her immediately!" Koshiro slapped his forehead, realizing he should've remembered Kaito's medical skills sooner.

"Got it!" Kaito approached Lisa and gave her a polite bow. "Hello, Ma'am. I'm Uchiha Kaito, Sensei's new student. It's an honor to meet you."

"Could I examine you? Just hold out your hand, please."

Lisa, taken aback by his respectful demeanor, managed a small smile and extended her hand.

Kaito placed his fingers gently on her wrist, using chakra to assess her condition. After a few moments, he released her hand and looked up.

"It's nothing too serious," he said, his voice reassuring. "Most of it stems from emotional stress, which has taken a toll on her health."

"On top of that, there are old injuries from her sword training that were never properly treated. That's what's been worsening her condition."

He reached into his pouch and pulled out two bottles.

"These should help." Kaito held up the first bottle. "This one will strengthen your body and heal the old injuries."

"And this one," he said, showing the second bottle, "is for restoring mental and spiritual vitality. Even though the misunderstanding between you and Sensei is clearing up, the stress has already done some damage. This will help reverse that."

Lisa hesitated, glancing between the bottles and Koshiro, her eyes softening further.

"I just want us to be a family again," Koshiro said quietly. "Kuina needs her mother. And I... I need you, Lisa."

Lisa's lips trembled, her resolve wavering. Perhaps... it was time to let go of the past.
