Chapter 15: Chapter 14: The Truth

Peter didn't hold back, sharing everything he knew about Miles Morales, the "Little Black Spider."

After all, Miles wasn't just a character he had played in a video game; he was now one of their crucial allies in the upcoming battle against Kingpin.

It made sense to offer his help, and besides, sharing this information cost him nothing.

However, the others were left stunned after hearing Peter's account.

For a while, middle-aged Peter Parker nudged Miles with his elbow. "Miles, did you hear that? You're incredible!"

Miles nodded blankly. "Y-yeah... Turns out I'm really that amazing."

On the side, Gwen gave Miles a once-over before turning to Peter. "Can he really turn invisible?"

"Uh... probably?" Peter replied hesitantly. His knowledge came from online sources and video games, but this was real life.

As they say, "Actual results may vary"—a disclaimer that applied far beyond instant noodle packaging.

At that moment, middle-aged Peter Parker threw an arm around Miles's shoulder and declared, "I can vouch for that! He can turn invisible!"

Miles nodded slowly, still looking confused. "Yes, yes, I can turn invisible!"

Middle-aged Peter grinned mischievously. "Well, go ahead! Show them!"

"Alright, I'll do it!" Miles, buoyed by Peter's enthusiasm, suddenly brimmed with confidence.

He spread his arms, planted his feet wide, and struck a stance that looked suspiciously like someone powering up to go Super Saiyan.

"Ahhhhh!" Miles growled as he struck his pose dramatically.

Now he really looked the part!

Peter watched in awkward silence, tempted to comment but hesitant to interrupt Miles's fervor.

After a long, tense moment, Miles sighed in defeat and hung his head. "I can't just turn invisible on command."

His voice was hoarse, likely a result of his earlier "power-up" attempt.

Peter handed him a cup of water with a supportive smile. "Maybe take a break for now. Why don't you tell us your story while you're at it? We didn't get a chance to hear it earlier."

"Thanks," Miles muttered, taking the water and downing it in one gulp.

Starting with Miles, the three newcomers took turns sharing their stories.

Miles, now 17 years old, was a senior at Vision Academy in New York City. (Originally, both Miles and Gwen were written as 15, but for certain reasons, their ages were adjusted to 17.)

Last weekend, while visiting his Uncle Aaron, Miles was bitten by a spider. The next day, he woke up to find himself with newfound spider-like abilities.

Unable to suppress his curiosity, he retraced his steps to the subway tracks where he was bitten.

But instead of finding the spider, he stumbled upon the Ultimate Spider-Man battling Green Goblin near an active particle collider!

During the fight, Ultimate Spider-Man was caught off guard and thrown into the collider's particle stream by Green Goblin.

The collider then exploded violently, killing Green Goblin instantly and leaving Spider-Man gravely injured.

What happened next was even more horrifying. Spider-Man was brutally murdered by Kingpin.

While watching from the shadows, Miles accidentally exposed his presence and was chased by the Prowler. Barely escaping with his life, he soon learned of Spider-Man's death.

Not long after, Miles encountered the middle-aged Peter Parker from another dimension.

Initially, neither of them recognized each other's identity, leading to some conflict.

After clearing up the misunderstanding, they decided to head to Kingpin's research facility in the southern suburbs, where they managed to steal a computer containing data on the particle collider.

While escaping with the computer, they were pursued by Kingpin's henchmen and eventually encountered Gwen Stacy.

With Gwen's help, they successfully evaded their pursuers and made it to safety.

"This is the computer you brought back? Fantastic! With the data inside, I can figure out how to neutralize the particle collider much faster!" exclaimed Peni Parker, rushing over.

Her SP//dr mech followed closely behind her, mirroring her movements.

"Uh, right," middle-aged Peter replied, looking at Peni with mild disbelief. "Wait, are you seriously saying you can figure out a solution to the collider?"

Peter chuckled. "Of course, she's serious. Peni's a genius teenage girl!"

Peni lifted her chin proudly, her pale nose slightly tilted upward. "That's right! I'm a genius teenage girl!"

"Alright, you do you, genius teenage girl," middle-aged Peter said with a shrug, clearly skeptical.

It wasn't an unusual reaction. After all, the idea of a 14-year-old girl solving problems related to advanced particle collider technology seemed improbable to most people.

The average 14-year-old was still in middle school, probably just learning basic algebra.

Particle collider? What even is that?

Even Peter, a university graduate and working adult, had no clue where to begin with something that complex.

Peni didn't mind his reaction. She was used to these kinds of looks—one of the many "burdens" of being a genius, she often thought.

Behind her, SP//dr picked up the computer tower and followed her to a workstation.

"I'll crack it open and retrieve the data right away," Peni said, eagerly setting to work on her computer.

Peter clapped both middle-aged Peter and Miles on the shoulders. "Relax. This is the world of geniuses. Ordinary folks like us don't need to stress over it."

Middle-aged Peter: Thanks for the "comfort."

Miles: You're really great at making people feel better, huh?

"Wait!" Miles suddenly exclaimed, pulling out a USB-like device from his pocket. He walked over to Peni and placed it on the table beside her.

Peni picked up the device, her expression curious. "What's this?"

Miles explained, "It's a 'gadget' that Peter gave me. He said it's something that can completely shut down the particle collider."

Peni's eyes lit up. "That's fantastic!"

Spider-Noir, however, looked puzzled. "If you had something this useful, why didn't you mention it earlier?"

Miles scratched the back of his head awkwardly. "Uh… well, it's broken."

"What?"

"It's broken?"

"Are you kidding me?"

Spider-Noir, Spider-Ham, and Peter exclaimed in unison.

Miles hung his head in embarrassment.

Peni waved her hand dismissively. "Relax, relax! If it's broken, I can fix it. It's way easier to repair than to make a new one from scratch. Miles, you did a great job bringing it back!"

Miles felt even more embarrassed, as it was his fault the gadget had been damaged in the first place.

Unnoticed until now, Gwen had approached the group. She asked, "So, what's the plan?"

Spider-Ham replied, "The plan's simple: fix the gadget, find the particle collider, plug the gadget in, and destroy it."

"And how do we get back to our respective worlds?" Spider-Noir asked.

The room fell silent.

Buzz...

"Ahhh..."

"Ughhh...."

Suddenly, agonized cries echoed through the Spider Lair.

Everyone except Peter and Miles started to experience a vivid, multicolored distortion rippling across their bodies.

It was as if this world itself was rejecting them.
