Chapter 29: Mansion of Five (12)
Bai Lian almost blurted out what he was thinking.
It seemed to be Winnie’s influence.
What a remarkable girl.
How could she be involved in such dirty things?
Little dirty things really do a lot of harm.
Suddenly, Winnie felt her shoulder grow heavy and couldn’t help but frown.
An invisible black bowl had fallen on her head.
She glanced at Bai Lian and felt that he was thinking something bad.
【Host, what did you just say?】
【I know, Mr. David, you don’t want others to find out about such perverted things, right? (funny)】【Hahahaha, what you said came from the heart, but correcting a mistake is a sign of culture!】
【Almost lost the chance for a conversation due to his bluntness, but stopped in time.】
The viewers in the chat laughed at the unexpected turn in Bai Lian’s words.
...
“It’s truly surprising how a strange and alien person can become friends,” David said thoughtfully, looking at Bai Lian and Winnie, his gaze full of hidden meaning.
“Mr. David, you’re mistaken. We’re not friends,” Winnie hurriedly denied.
Bai Lian just smiled:
“Of course, we’re just strategic partners.”
“This isn’t the place for conversation. Let’s go inside,” David stepped aside and invited them in.
It must be said that as a butler, David had no shortcomings in terms of manners and attitude toward people.
If it weren’t for his orientation, Bai Lian would have gladly befriended such a person.
But if he’s gay, then fine.
He doesn’t have that kind of friendship like Long Yang.
Bai Lian and Winnie entered the small cottage. Glancing around the interior, they noticed that the decor here was as neat as David’s attire—everything was clean and pleasing to the eye. Even the floors were spotless, and all items were perfectly aligned with the tile seams.
Seeing this, Bai Lian realized: this David probably suffered from some degree of obsessive-compulsive disorder. Even the two mugs on the coffee table had their handles pointing in the same direction.
“This is coffee, and this is tea,” David said, serving drinks to Bai Lian and Winnie. He placed the coffee in front of Winnie and the tea in front of Bai Lian, then smiled and added, “You Eastern people probably prefer tea more. Although I’m not the best at brewing tea, I apologize.”
As he said, there were a few undissolved tea leaves floating in the cup.
“No need to say that. Actually, I brew tea the same way,” Bai Lian replied casually.
He didn’t plan to drink the tea. After all, he wasn’t thirsty and didn’t particularly like tea.
Winnie had no such reservations and immediately picked up the coffee cup, taking a sip.
“Mr. David’s coffee is still as delicious as ever.”
“A great honor,” David smiled. Who doesn’t like praise? He was no exception.
“You said you wanted to talk to me?” David got straight to the point.
“Mr. David, do you know where the master and mistress are?” Bai Lian asked bluntly.
Hearing this question, David was momentarily stunned, then suddenly laughed.
“In the employee handbook I sent you, it should say that the master and mistress will return to the estate in a week, right?”
“Of course,” Bai Lian nodded. “But we both know that’s a lie, don’t we?”
“I’m asking where the master and mistress really are.”
David’s smile faded, his gaze turned serious, and he stared intently at Bai Lian: “It seems you’ve learned something.”
Saying this, he looked at Winnie again, a hint of confusion flashing in his eyes.
“I didn’t tell him anything. He found all these clues himself,” Winnie leaned back on the sofa with an expression that suggested it had nothing to do with her. 𝑅₳Nọ₿Ёṧ
Hearing her words, David averted his gaze and continued questioning Bai Lian: “Have you been to the master and mistress’s room?”
Only in their room could one find some clues. And to learn the truth and come here, one would have had to visit their room. He always knew this rule!
Bai Lian nodded.
David looked at Winnie again.
According to the rules, if someone entered the master and mistress’s room on the same day, it would be a violation. In such a case, Winnie should have killed the violator. But why didn’t she kill Bai Lian? On the contrary, they became cooperative partners?
This outsider, does he have some special ability?
“Don’t look at me like that. This guy can ignore the rules,” Winnie turned away with a displeased expression.
She would have liked to kill Bai Lian too. But this guy seemed to not feel the rules, doing whatever he wanted without breaking them. Because of this, she even…
Winnie thought about it and felt a heat rising through her body.
Ignore the rules?
David’s eyes narrowed, and he looked at Bai Lian in surprise.
Suddenly, it occurred to him that when they met at the door, he also didn’t notice any signs of murderous intent from Bai Lian.
In theory, if a player appeared somewhere other than the staff dormitory during non-working hours, he could act.
But Bai Lian didn’t do that.
He didn’t even have a chance to intervene.
Can he really ignore the rules?
David took a deep breath, suppressing his surprise, then his voice became a little quieter:
“To be honest, I don’t know where the master and mistress are.”
Bai Lian had expected this.
He calmly continued:
“Do you have any leads?”
David shook his head:
“Since the master and mistress disappeared, I’ve searched the entire estate but found no leads.”
“I suspect they’re outside the estate.”
He voiced his guess.
As the butler, David knew perfectly well what was happening in the estate.
Catching someone right under his nose would be very difficult.
“No, they’re definitely in the estate,” Bai Lian dismissed his assumption.
David and Winnie looked at him simultaneously:
“How do you know?”
“Because all the clues about them are in the room. If they were outside the estate, you wouldn’t be able to hide it,” Bai Lian said, taking the coffee cup Winnie had drunk from and taking a sip.
Winnie pursed her lips.
This guy seems to be doing it on purpose.
He’s not drinking his tea but drinking her coffee.
And he’s deliberately choosing the moment.
“This coffee really isn’t bad, with a light jasmine aroma,” Bai Lian said with a surprised expression.
Winnie clenched her fist slightly.
How annoying he is!
David, oblivious to their silent bickering, furrowed his brow thoughtfully, pondering Bai Lian’s words.
If they’re in the estate, then where could they be locked up?
Before he could think further, Bai Lian asked again:
“Mr. David, are you sure there are no traces of the master and mistress in the estate?”
David snapped out of it and nodded: “Absolutely.”
“Has anything changed in the estate? For example, has anything extra appeared?”
David thought for a moment and shook his head: “I’m certain nothing extra has appeared, not even a blade of grass or a flower.”
Perfect.
Bai Lian stood up, a glint in his eyes: “Then I think I know where they’re being held.”
