Chapter 4: Reincarnation Agency (2)
The Observer cleared his throat—or at least made a sound resembling it—before addressing Carl with a tone that blended amusement and authority.
"Mr. Carl, your file here is quite… fascinating. Four lifetimes, each more unique than the last. Let's recap, shall we?" The Observer waved a hand, and holographic images of Carl's past lives appeared: him when he was a doctor, an art teacher, a mercenary, and finally, a deer.
Carl blinked or thought he thought, considering he wasn't sure his body even had eyelids. "Wait. What? I've been through this before? Why don't I remember anything?"
The Observer leaned forward, his featureless face emanating a strange, calming glow. "Ah, memories of past lives are typically sealed to ensure that the slate is clean with each reincarnation. It's a policy to ensure fairness in your new existence. Unfortunately, you seem to have a knack for stumbling back here far too often."
Carl crossed his arms, his frustration bubbling to the surface. "So, what? You're saying I'm bad at living?"
"Not bad," the Observer corrected, a sly grin audible in his voice. "But you do have a tendency to attract… dramatic conclusions to your lives. Let's see: ambushed mercenary, hunted deer, and before that—ah, yes, you got killed by your former student."
Carl's jaw dropped. You've got to be kidding me!"
The Observer chuckled, his otherworldly laughter echoing in the vast space around them. "Oh, I assure you, I do not joke, Mr. Carl. You seem to have a talent for finding yourself in perilous situations. Quite the knack for dramatics, really."
Carl rubbed his temples, trying to process what he was hearing. "Okay, fine. So I've had a string of bad luck or... whatever this is. What happens now? Am I going to be a tree or something in my next life?"
The Observer tapped his fingers on the desk, the sound reverberating like thunder. "Not quite. You see, Mr. Carl, reincarnation works by using points and these points are earned by how your actions impact the world. Your third life as a teacher had the points to buy reincarnation tickets twice, but your last life.. not so much."
Carl raised an eyebrow. "That doesn't sound good."
The Observer leaned back, his imposing figure radiating an aura of authority. "It depends on how you look at it. You've been given multiple chances to live fulfilling lives, yet you keep finding... creative ways to return here. Well, this is goodbye to you, like forever."
"Wait don't I have some points left or a loan I can take?" Carl asked, his voice full of worry.
The Observer raised a finger, and the number 48 KP appeared before him so as another window
[Reincarnation ticket - 100,000,000 KP]
"You were lucky enough to save enough points to buy reincarnation tickets for your life as a deer and a mercenary but sadly you are out of luck, you life as a deer didn't have any sort of impact to the world mr carl, and you don't have the required number of points to get a new life Mr. Carl. Just be content with being able to remember two lives" The observer said as hands came from the ground to hold carl down whiles sinking him slowly in the ground.
Carl ran around trying to shake off the hands but their grip was firmly holding unto him sinking him slowly and slowly, His body kneeling on all fours as he was sinking and just as he was going to accept the inevitable, he resolved himself to live " I am not going to die again he said".
As he struggled to get out of his entrapment, his human soul form transformed to when he was a deer, making a small gap for his body to pass through the hands and he kept running and running until he made his way to the edge of the empty vacuum of the space. His body clashed into it as if he slammed into an unbreakable glass. The hands which he was able to outrun started closing in the distance he made although slowly but they were surely going to catch him.
Seeing this Carl kept using his body to slam the edge of the space in hopes of breaking the glass like barrier, as the hands got closer his pace too quickened, trying to stop his demise since he didn't want to know what an actual eternal sleep would be like, luckily cracks were forming on the barrier making his efforts not be in vain. Just as the hands were inches away from grabbing him he was able to break to break the barrier with shards of glass flying everywhere as he kept on falling, the speed of his descent was so fast that everything felt like a flashing light.
His falling body stopped whiles it was going to enter his eaten torned up deer body, some unknown feeling of hatred welled up inside him, he could clearly feel something supernatural was influencing it but he couldn't stop it.
His deer ghost form which was a light bluish color turned into a dark reddish hue as he saw a red trail connecting him to somewhere. He couldn't think clearly and charged to wherever the trail was leading him which was into some unknown house that had its front door still left open. He barged in whiles his body phased through the walls into the main bedroom where the man responsible for his death was sleeping soundly without any worry.
His body entered the hunters body although there was some resistance from the hunters side but he was still able to possess him fainting afterwards.
...
Somewhere in an unknown cave, an old man in a lab coat deeply focused on dissecting a human body as a crystal ball glowed making a holographic map pointing to some coordinates.
"Hehehe, looks like another one is finished".
