"New message has arrived!"
Link raised an eyebrow, finding an excuse to leave the warehouse, leaving Singed, Vander, and Janna alone.
With Janna present, Vander wouldn't likely tear into Singed right away.
Moreover, Vander was created by Singed, so he should have a way to counter Vander.
As for their feud—
Link didn't want to get involved and didn't have the time; he just hoped they could resolve it themselves.
To be fair, they did share some common ground.
Both were doting fathers.
One wanted to create a world without death and suffering for his daughter, while the other, even in his monstrous form, couldn't forget his daughter.
And the conflict between two doting fathers?
Difficult to judge!
Back in his lab, Link set the spider helmet aside and began to dismantle his exoskeleton armor.
Once he had removed the armor and placed it on the shelf, he headed to the main house to fill the bathtub with water.
He had been too busy with experiments to take care of himself.
Now that he had some free time, it was time to freshen up.
As he sank into the tub, Link let out a satisfied groan. "Ah, this feels great!"
Feeling relaxed all over, Link opened his mailbox to check for new messages.
"Enough already, Black Rose!
Do you really think I'm a three-year-old child?
First, you killed my friend; then you impersonated my brother to provoke me, and finally used tricks to drive a wedge between me and my mother.
And now you want to play these games again!
Let me tell you this: this is not over. I have already set off on my journey to Noxus.
When I return to Noxus, I will eliminate all of you!!"
"Wow, such heavy killing intent and anger!" Link clicked his tongue. "Looks like future Mel received my letter. However, since I've rewritten my timeline, the chances of subsequent events happening are quite low."
"But from the letter, it seems she is at the end of Episode 9 of Twin Cities."
"At that point, the conflict in Twin Cities ended rather confusingly. Mel inherited Ambessa's wishes and led the remnants back to Noxus."
Link quickly deduced that their timelines were different.
According to Link's speculation, after rewriting the memorial meeting ambush incident, subsequent plot points and timelines were also altered.
Viewing the ambush as an important timeline node, Link found himself in a disrupted timeline while Mel remained in the original plotline that had not been disturbed.
In other words, he received a letter from future Mel from the original plot timeline.
"Hmm—" After pondering for a moment, Link began writing a reply.
"First of all, let me correct one thing, Miss Mel.
I am not part of Black Rose!
Secondly, I want to inform you that you have indeed received a letter from another timeline.
My current timeline is after the ambush incident at the memorial meeting but before Jayce's disappearance!
The biggest difference between your timeline and mine is that I received help from Twin Cities residents from other timelines and rewrote the future of the ambush incident so that your mother Ambessa had no chance to intervene in Piltover's affairs.
If she cannot reach into Piltover's matters, naturally subsequent events will not occur.
I believe you understand what my future represents.
I can save your mother in this timeline and even rewrite your own fate in this timeline.
So how about it? Shall we cooperate?
You have already tasted the pain of losing friends and your mother; I believe you don't want your counterpart in this timeline to experience it again.
Having been through rain myself, how could I tear up another version's umbrella?
Can you bear to see Elora die because of Black Rose again?"
Link clicked send and soaked in the tub for a while longer before starting to wash himself off.
When Link finished his bath and changed into fresh clothes, Mel's reply arrived.
"Isn't it enough to deceive me? You even use Elora to provoke me.
You despicable schemer!
I swear I will catch you and hang you on the gallows!
Absolutely!"
Link smirked; was Mel suffering from PTSD due to Black Rose?
This could be tricky!
Future Mel inherited Ambessa's legacy, which meant she possessed manufacturing techniques for rune charms used by Ambessa before.
Those things could absorb magic and would be extremely useful for him now.
After all, weapons using Hextech gems primarily dealt energy damage; rune charms could effectively counter such attacks.
As for Vi's gauntlets and Jayce's hammer's physical attacks, his exoskeleton was sufficient for those.
Moreover, with Black Rose secretly active now, if he wanted to approach Mel, he needed to be prepared for confrontation with Black Rose.
If he really encountered Black Rose with rune charms on hand, he could maneuver his way out.
Also currently lacking access to anti-magic stones made things complicated; otherwise it wouldn't be such a hassle.
Those things were truly useful!
Without anti-magic stones available now, he could only obtain rune charms from Mel in another timeline.
Furthermore, aside from rune charms, Link also needed to connect with Mel indirectly to influence the council and change Piltover.
With help from another timeline's Mel, he could smoothly deal with his own timeline's Mel.
Apart from Mel, Saro was also on his target list.
That's why he had Singed research potions capable of healing disabilities; with Singed's potions combined with his exoskeleton armor, Saro would definitely be able to stand up again.
This would also prevent Saro from seeking Victor's endorsement and increasing Saro's followers.
Tsk! Mechanical Jesus—what a hassle!
"This is troublesome!" Link clicked his tongue but still patiently composed a reply.
"Miss Mel, I understand your wariness developed under Black Rose's schemes and attacks.
But please believe me; I mean no harm toward you—I just want to help you.
So please give me a chance—a chance to prove myself!"
After sending the letter out, Link went to his workshop and designed an exoskeleton that would help Saro stand again.
Just as he sketched out its initial form, he received a reply from Mel.
"A chance to prove yourself?
Ha! You really make me laugh more and more!
Alright then! Since you're playing games with me—let's play well together!
You said you want proof? Then go fetch something personal belonging to your side's Mel!"
Seeing this made Link frown in thought for a moment before chuckling lightly as he continued completing his unfinished design draft.
"Alright then! If you want something personal—I'll give you something personal!"
...
A little later,
Medarda Manor.
Elora hurriedly walked through the corridor toward Mel's bedroom.
As Mel's aide, she not only needed to help with work but also manage everything in Mel's life.
Recently Mel hadn't been having an easy time; although she received help from that mysterious person during the memorial meeting preventing Zaun rioters' attack—the subsequent investigation didn't go smoothly at all.
The alchemist baron named Renni died even under strict supervision by law enforcers—slit throat—clean and efficient.
Renni's death made tracing back the mastermind behind the memorial meeting attack increasingly difficult.
Madam Ambessa was still restless; through Saro she seemed ready to stir up something big with other council members.
Piltover was currently filled with anxiety; rumors spread everywhere which was extremely detrimental for stability.
Mel hadn't returned home in quite some time; she stayed entirely within council headquarters fearing any incidents would catch her off guard.
As for daily necessities—they were all managed by Elora.
This return home was specifically for preparing some personal clothing items for Mel as well as retrieving some belongings from her bedroom.
Although times were chaotic now—Mel still had her strategies.
She had contacted Phyros family from Blue Fragrance Manor intending to hold another evaluation meeting aimed at selecting skilled craftsmen.
Launching an evaluation meeting at this juncture might seem unwise from an outsider's perspective.
However—holding another evaluation meeting was merely a means; its purpose was so that people would see that the council still maintained stable order—a show of strength.
Yet while this evaluation meeting served as an opportunity for stabilizing circumstances for councils—it also presented opportunities for those with ulterior motives.
To prevent such occurrences—Mel specifically reached out to Phyros family—a wealthy clan hidden within Piltover for many years without revealing their power.
It's said they shifted their business focus away from Piltover years ago towards Shurima and Ishtal development—their family business spans much of Runeterra including Demacia,Noxus—even Bilgewater has their influence.
As their base camp—Piltover held immense hidden strength.
Only they kept it concealed; outsiders remained unaware.
Currently Mel found herself alone against overwhelming odds—Madam Ambessa eyed Piltover hungrily while internal conflicts brewed; even Jayce had recently been troubled by losing friends unwillingly managing affairs anymore.
Even Ghiramann family's new head was busy chasing after truth behind memorial meeting attack without rest.
All burdens weighed heavily upon Mel making her seek Phyros family's assistance.
With their support—the implementation of subsequent plans should become much easier.
Elora approached Mel's bedroom door lost in thought.
But upon entering she froze in place.
Where is the bed?
Where is the sofa?
Where are the paintings?
Where is the carpet?
Why are even the curtains gone?!
...
Elora stepped back two paces wanting to confirm whether she entered correctly or not.
After repeated checks she confirmed she hadn't made a mistake.
"Medarda Manor...was robbed?!"
Elora slowly opened her mouth wide in disbelief.
Who dares steal from Medarda family? Who dares steal from a council member?
Is this still Piltover!!!
