Chapter 15: Flames of Adaptation
Chapter 15: Flames of Adaptation
The clash between Inferno Draconix and Glacier Fenrir filled the arena with a fierce storm of fire and ice. Steam hissed and swirled as the two opposing forces collided, filling the air with heat and frost. Kai's mind worked furiously, his eyes locked on the spinning Beys.
Shin's calm demeanor didn't waver. "Ice doesn't just defend. It freezes. Fenrir is designed to slow and shatter any attack."
Kai gritted his teeth. "Fire isn't just heat. It's transformation. Draconix, Inferno Shift!"
The flames swirling around Draconix pulled inward, condensing into a focused, blazing core. The Bey's spin grew faster, its movements sharper. The steam thickened as the heat intensified.
Shin watched, unfazed. "Fenrir, Glacier Fangs!"
Glacier Fenrir lunged forward, its icy edges glowing with frosty energy. The Beyblade's spin created a burst of cold air, the temperature in the arena dropping noticeably. The ice slammed into Draconix's flames, frost creeping toward the core of the fire.
Kai felt the pressure building. His flames had always been strong enough to overpower his opponents, but Fenrir wasn't breaking—it was freezing everything in its path.
Think… I can't rely on sheer force. Fire and ice aren't just enemies—they react to each other.
"Draconix, dodge it! Inferno Drift!"
Inferno Draconix shifted its spin pattern, moving in a tight spiral to avoid Fenrir's attack. Flames danced around its edges as it circled the icy Beyblade, heating the air and creating currents of rising steam.
Taro, watching intently, clenched his fists. "He's creating a heat vortex…! But is it enough?"
Shin's eyes narrowed. "Fenrir, freeze the field. Arctic Veil!"
A burst of frost erupted from Fenrir, coating the stadium floor in a layer of ice. The slippery surface slowed Draconix's movements, and frost began to spread toward its spinning core.
Kai's heart raced. He could feel Draconix's fire weakening. I need to change the game.
"Draconix, Ignis Rebound!"
The flames around Draconix exploded outward, sending a wave of heat across the icy floor. Steam surged upward, creating a thick fog that filled the arena and obscured both Beys from view.
Shin raised an eyebrow. "Hiding won't help you."
Kai smiled. "I'm not hiding. I'm making you lose sight of the real danger."
Through the fog, Inferno Draconix shifted its spin pattern again. The heat intensified as it moved unpredictably, the flames burning through the mist like flickering embers.
Shin's eyes flicked back and forth. "Fenrir, maintain your spin. Prepare for impact."
"Now!" Kai shouted. "Draconix, Flame Surge: Blazing Spiral!"
The fiery Bey shot forward from the fog, flames spiraling into a concentrated strike. The heat built into a focused point of energy, burning through the icy defenses of Glacier Fenrir.
The impact sent shockwaves through the stadium. Sparks flew as the fire and ice clashed one last time—
Then, Glacier Fenrir wobbled. Its icy glow dimmed.
Finally, it came to a stop.
Inferno Draconix spun triumphantly in the center, its flames flickering with victory.
The arena erupted with cheers, the heat from the battle still radiating through the air.
Shin picked up Glacier Fenrir, his expression unreadable. He looked at Kai, then nodded. "Fire that adapts… impressive. You earned this victory."
Kai smiled, his heart still pounding. "Ice is strong, but fire always finds a way to burn through."
Shin's eyes glinted. "This isn't the last time we'll meet. Battles are forged in heat—and cooled in frost. Next time, be ready for a stronger storm."
Kai nodded, determination burning within him. "I'll be waiting."
As the fog lifted and the crowd dispersed, the heat of victory filled Kai's chest. His flames had evolved once again—but he knew that new battles lay ahead, and the fire would need to burn brighter than ever.
To be continued…
