Chapter 217: C149(2)
For now, however, Kain's focus was on transforming the manor. He envisioned a modern-style magical estate, something he'd never had the chance to create in the wizarding world.
Betty sighed. "You want to renovate it again? It hasn't even been that long since I bought it, and you've barely lived there! Fine, but I'll need a few assistants to handle this. If you're renovating the manor, let them take over—there's already too much on my plate."
As the Pent Group expanded, so did Betty's responsibilities. She oversaw the biological research center, managed Umbrella, and was even coordinating plans for a potential relocation.
Kain immediately agreed. "Of course, get as much help as you need. If you feel understaffed, hire more people. As for rebuilding the group building, leave that to Anton Vanko. I'll send you the design plans soon."
In fact, it wasn't exactly an architectural design drawing—certain elements of the structure needed to be integrated with magical materials.
Without them, the building wouldn't possess a "life" of its own, like Hogwarts Castle.
Once the construction was complete, Kain cast a Muggle-Repelling Charm over the area. Unless someone was wearing an alchemical item specifically designed to bypass the charm, no ordinary person would ever notice the building.
These alchemical items were simple for Kain to craft. Without adding protective enchantments, he could produce more than ten of them in a single session.
"There's also the matter of Sokovia," Betty said, continuing her report as Umbrella soldiers moved the gold.
"Our people have gone there under the guise of a charity mission. It may take some time to gather information on the Maximoff twins. Do they have any special traits we should look out for?"
If the goal was to locate the Maximoff siblings quickly, contacting local authorities and police stations would be the most efficient approach.
However, Kain didn't want to risk alerting Hydra, so he chose to operate discreetly.
After all, two superpowered individuals would be enough to provoke Hydra into escalating the situation.
Kain shook his head. "Take your time. If they can't be found, it likely means Hydra got to them first. In that case, we'll need to employ a different approach."
Wanda and Pietro Maximoff—better known as Quicksilver—posed unique challenges. Pietro's speed was manageable, albeit troublesome, but Wanda's abilities were far more formidable.
Chaos magic, once fully developed, could tap into the multiverse. Even in its undeveloped state, it was powerful enough to destroy the Mind Stone.
It was worth noting that even Thanos, after destroying the six Infinity Stones, had struggled with the consequences. Wanda's abilities, if left unchecked, could make her a catastrophic threat.
'Wanda's powers are incredibly dangerous,k Kain thought. She could become the most terrifying of enemies, especially given her emotional instability.
Her powers often surged uncontrollably when she experienced loss, and if left to spiral, she could reach the level of an apocalyptic force—practically a cosmic wave of destruction.
Betty looked skeptical. "Are they really that important?"
"It's not just important—it's terrifying," Kain replied, his expression serious. "The brother's abilities are impressive, but Wanda... she has the power to destroy the world. She's incredibly troublesome. Very troublesome."
Kain's repeated emphasis on "troublesome" was enough to convey how critical Wanda was. If she couldn't be persuaded to align with him, she would become a dangerous adversary.
Worse still, if she managed to master even a fraction of her chaos magic, it could spell disaster.
As a wizard, Kain was also deeply tempted by the potential of chaos magic. Its ability to alter, distort, and create reality was irresistible, a type of magic that far surpassed anything in the wizarding world.
While Harry Potter's magical system was impressive, touching on space and time, it had limitations—most notably Gamp's Law of Elemental Transfiguration. Chaos magic, however, shattered such boundaries effortlessly.
Then there was Agatha Harkness. If Kain could find her and exchange magical knowledge, it would be a mutually beneficial arrangement.
However, her whereabouts remained a mystery, leaving Kain unsure of how to track her down.
If they could find any trace of Agatha, Kain might have a chance to exchange the Darkhold with her.
After hearing Kain's suggestion, Betty's expression grew serious. "I understand. In a few days, I'll find an excuse to go to Sokovia."
"No," Kain said, shaking his head. "Let your new assistant handle it. You're completely tied to me now. If you go to Sokovia, everyone will assume it's on my orders."
He had a point. Because of the Extremis virus and the super-soldier serum, many eyes were already on him and Betty.
Even Laura might be under surveillance by those keeping tabs on their activities.
Sending the new assistant as a cover would divert suspicion, and Kain planned to discreetly send a few Umbrella operatives to assist with the task.
After giving a few more instructions, Kain noticed that the gold transfer was nearly complete. Betty, satisfied that the process was in order, prepared to leave.
In the meantime, Kain focused on preparing for his next world trade mission. He restocked alchemical items, basic materials, TNT, and other ammunition.
The power dynamics of the Marvel universe were advancing rapidly. If the next world didn't yield valuable resources like gold or other rare items, Kain decided he would simply return to the Ninja world to replenish his supplies.
