Marvel: Trading with Worlds

Chapter 218: C150(1)

"I didn't expect that there's a real Umbrella here..."

After Kain arrived in this world, the first sources of information he accessed were the internet, newspapers, and media.

During his stay, he happened to come across some particularly explosive news.

Some time ago, there were numerous reports of accidental deaths following the injection of Umbrella drugs in various locations.

The news broke in the United States, Mexico, Japan, Canada, and other places, but the incidents were quickly suppressed.

According to the reports, after officials, forensic doctors, and Umbrella personnel intervened in the investigation, it was concluded that the deaths were the result of isolated cases and had no connection to Umbrella's medications.

However, the Umbrella Group provided relevant compensation.

The situation has since calmed down.

But Kain knew this was all being suppressed by Umbrella's influence. Although the governments of various countries were still functional, Umbrella had long monopolized many fields through covert development.

In military technology, biopharmaceuticals, computers, and national defense, it was as difficult for civilians in the United States to avoid Umbrella's products as it was to avoid paying taxes.

Only those who were poor enough to be outcasts might escape their reach.

"The T-virus and the Red Queen AI shouldn't have been developed yet, but Umbrella is still unrivaled in the fields of computer science and artificial intelligence. In the Marvel world, only Stark could possibly match Umbrella in technological development. Let's see how we fare," Kain thought, after collecting information on Umbrella, sighing deeply.

The surface power of Umbrella shouldn't be underestimated, but the real strength lies in what's hidden beneath.

As for this world, Kain speculated it was based on the movie version of the Resident Evil universe because the founder of Umbrella wasn't Spencer.

The founder was not them, but a group of people led by Marcus.

"With only three days, choosing a long-lived trader is easy, but how do I obtain the T-virus and artificial intelligence? Although Umbrella hasn't developed them yet, with their strong foundation in the computer field, once the project is approved, it would be easy for them to create an artificial intelligence."

Compared to the rest, Kain was more interested in artificial intelligence.

It wasn't that Ivan Vanko and his son weren't skilled at developing AI. Ivan Vanko might need to learn a bit more, but with his abilities, developing artificial intelligence would require assistance from a large team and years of work.

This would still require Kain's help in finding the right people, but it would delay the development of the Ark Reactor project.

Sometimes, the gap between geniuses and non-geniuses is immense. Tony Stark was able to develop J.A.R.V.I.S., which was comparable to human intelligence—handling everything from nuclear codes to more.

In addition to J.A.R.V.I.S., Tony Stark had developed other AIs that were also incredibly powerful.

"I remember the Red Queen was developed by Isaac, but he's such an idiot. How could he make such stupid restrictions? How could a man who's ambitious enough to want to build a New World set such limitations on artificial intelligence? It's a total contradiction."

Kain thought about Dr. Isaac's various actions and decided to push him off the line, allowing him to continue his work.

With the best card in his hand, he should fire a cannon at the opponent until it exploded.

For artificial intelligence, it's enough to be loyal to only one master. No matter how many settings it has, it should serve its creator's purpose.

Kain didn't understand Isaac's reasoning. Both of Isaac's settings were in serious conflict with his goals.

After thinking for a moment, Kain decided he couldn't allow the artificial intelligence to be left to Isaac.

If he could bring the Red Queen back, it would make up for the last shortcoming of the Pent Group. For the group's future development, he only needed to issue remote orders.

Although the expressive power of the Red Queen is weaker than that of J.A.R.V.I.S., Kain felt Isaac's excessive restrictions on the Red Queen hindered its development.

If Umbrella could summon experts in human interaction to study the Red Queen, it shouldn't be too difficult to expand its capabilities to the level of J.A.R.V.I.S.

Kain didn't know much about artificial intelligence, but these were his educated guesses. At this stage, he still needed to complete his goal and remain in this world.

If he could get his hands on the T-virus, he couldn't miss the opportunity. The Extremis virus should be able to repair the side effects of the T-virus.

Compared to the super soldier serum, a T-virus without side effects would be better because it could even develop telekinesis. If it were strong enough, it could even affect satellites.

The T-virus could spawn many other viruses. If developed properly, it could replace any drug in human history, much like the Extremis virus, but with slightly fewer side effects.

The challenge was that fusion was too difficult.

It seemed that only Alicia's adult clone, Alice, had achieved the most perfect fusion with the T-virus.

Kain couldn't remember whether Dr. Isaac had perfectly fused the T-virus or the serum derived from it, but he knew that Dr. Isaac's clone had been involved in researching the T-virus.

He believed Alice was a special case, not the result of generally successful research.

"Then I'll find a trading partner, stay here, and look for opportunities to control Isaac or Marcus."

Things weren't as easy as before.

Kain realized he lacked strength. Even though he had obtained ninjutsu and the perfect Extremis virus from the Ninja world, it was still only enough to protect himself.

His target had to be someone who was hard to kill, or else he would lose the world trading coordinates.

But after wandering through the Harry Potter world, Kain fused the genes of three magical creatures, gaining control over enormous magical power and creating a source of magic.

He could find someone at random, complete the transaction, and then freeze that person to ensure they wouldn't dissipate.

Just as Kain was considering this, he suddenly saw an urgent news broadcast on the hotel's TV.

"According to relevant sources, at three o'clock yesterday afternoon, the founder of Umbrella, James Marcus, passed away due to illness, and Umbrella's shareholding structure has changed. Sources also report that Alexander Isaac may become James Marcus's only daughter's guardian, and the company will undergo significant changes."

After reading this news, Kain recalled the reports suppressed by Umbrella some time ago and immediately deduced the current time.

"Interesting. It seems I can change the transaction partner."

Kain chuckled a few times, then walked out of the hotel suite. It would be too much effort to find a common trader; why not go directly to Alicia?

Alicia Marcus, James Marcus's only daughter, was also his most beloved relative. Despite his wealth and status, James Marcus could have found other women, married, and had more children.

But he never gave up on Alicia, even though she suffered from a terminal illness. James Marcus used every method he could to try and cure her.

However, James Marcus was killed by Alexander Isaac over a disagreement, and Alicia was present at the scene. Though only around ten years old at the time, Alicia had been tormented by illness since childhood, making her mind far more mature than that of most children.

Additionally, her education had been thorough, and her discernment was sharper than other children her age.

She knew that her father had been killed, and she also knew that she was powerless to seek revenge. She understood that she had to endure and pretend to know nothing.

If Alicia hadn't known about Isaac beforehand, she wouldn't have been so wary of him. When she was in her twenties, she secretly recorded a meeting about the Apocalypse Project, uploaded it to Red Queen, and confronted Isaac about it.

The artificial intelligence created as a result became a weapon used against him.

But now, Alicia could only lie in bed, crying quietly in the middle of the night. Normally, her father would come to comfort her with stories and help her sleep.

But that comfort was gone.

In her vast villa, apart from the ten-year-old child, only a team of Umbrella company guards remained.

The leader of the team, Isaac's subordinate Wesker, had the task of ensuring Alicia's safety and making sure that before Isaac took full control of the company, there would be no disruptions.
