Naruto: The Medical Shinobi

[Passive Barrier] seal has been demonstrated, and everyone was impressed by it. It was time to demonstrate the [ReflexGuard: Advanced Barrier] now.

Hiruzen told Ox, the other ANBU guards, and the audience, "Now, onto the next seal."

Hiruzen then took another scroll containing [ReflexGuard: Advanced Barrier] and threw it at Ox and he caught it.

The Ox once again executed the seal, but this time he packed the scroll back and put it in his bag as it was running from the closed scroll. This move surprised the council members, as most barriers need a constant chakra supply, and while it is maintained, the caster needs the scroll opened and his chakra strained consistently.

Now that the norm for traditional barrier seals was not followed, the previously uninterested Danzo was also looking forward to the second seal.

"Attack," said Hiruzen.

With simple instructions, multiple ANBU guards threw a range of minor midrange jutsu towards the Ox, who simply stood by and let the attack approach him. The attacks were, however, blocked by independent hexagonal shields. The audience marvelled at the demonstration of an autonomous seal that projected hexagonal shields to block incoming attacks from all angles, showcasing its ability to provide comprehensive protection activated by a single user. 

Hiruzen continued, "The seal's efficiency surpasses others, and once activated, it works independently by detecting chakra and responding to visible threats in line of sight. I have seen many defensive seals more powerful than this seal, but I haven't seen any seal that can match this seal's functionality, efficiency, and ease of use. The price is not yet determined, but I have already placed the order for 100 of these seals for my ANBU captains."

Natsurama Senju spoke, "You saved the best seal for the last. I was already impressed by the first one. But Hiruzen, this seal can change the battle formations Leaf uses in wars."

Hideto Hyuga added, "Yes. It will help the vanguard in case of ambush and buy them valuable time for retreat in case they are surrounded. This will enable us to send reinforcements more efficiently and effectively in fewer numbers to confront the enemy in their own territory."

Hideto Hyuga then asked, "You mentioned that it blocks all physical attacks within the user's line of sight, correct?."

Hiruzen replied, "Yes, it works on feedback responses from the occipital lobe of the seal executor. That lobe processes the visual information in the brain. If the user can see the attack coming, then it is blocked automatically in response to self-preservation thoughts of the user."

"If that is the case, then imagine this seal in the hands of a Hyuga," said Hideto Hyuga.

Everyone gazed at Hideto Hyuga, understanding the implications of his words and recognising the transformative potential of the seal in the hands of a Hyuga. This seal could turn any Hyuga into a powerhouse with greater efficiency than the Hyuga clan's rotation technique, which is known for its high chakra consumption. Additionally, the rotation technique is limited to the main branch of the Hyuga clan and is not accessible to the branch families.

Meanwhile, Shinnosuke Uchiha was lost in his thoughts, and contrary to his usual self, he remained silent.

In a surprising move, Danzo Shimura unexpectedly stepped forward, taking everyone off guard, and conveyed his keen interest in examining the seal in Ox's possession. 

Ox looked at Danzo Shimura and then towards Hiruzen for approval. Hiruzen looked at Ox and nodded.

After receiving a nod from his boss, Ox handed the [ReflexGuard: Advanced Barrier] to Danzo Shimura for observation.

Danzo Shimura opened the scroll and was shocked at the sight. The intricate design and powerful capabilities of the seal left Danzo Shimura impressed as he carefully examined it with a thoughtful expression.

Hiruzen asked, "Now that the members of the Fuinjutsu Council have seen that the seal works, and flawlessly, I might add. I guess no one has any objection to the registration of this seal."

No one objected or said anything. Most were in awe watching such an advanced barrier seal in action. They were all thinking about what Natsurama Senju and Hideto Hyuga had said. What they were witnessing was a new era of fuinjutsu.

Hiruzen then said, "I will ask my assistant to do the formalities. This seal will be added to B-rank barriers. Although given the features of the barrier, it should be classified as an A-rank, the individual barrier is small and does not protect from very strong B-rank and A-rank Jutsus. The other seal also has a similar drawback despite its chakra efficacy but is less versatile than this seal. So it will be given a C-rank."

After a brief pause, "Ok, then I will conclude this meeting."

As everyone departed, Danzo remained fixated on the scroll while Hiruzen engaged with the council members.

Danzo was thinking, "Such complexity. Whoever designed this seal did not follow the traditional rules of seal making in a dustbin. It cannot be that Hamura, even if he is a grandmaster. The entire structure of this seal's mechanism is totally different from our traditional seal. Without direct insight, it will take years to decode a fraction of this seal."

While Danzo was engrossed in thought, the other two elders also stayed behind.

Danzo looked at Hiruzen; he was also waiting for everyone to leave before he confronted Hiruzen about this seal.

Danzo spoke first, "This seal is too advanced for that Hamura to create. It can't be him."

Hiruzen knew that it wasn't him and it was Ryu but didn't say so but only raised his eyebrow.

Hiruzen asked, "What makes you say so?"

Danzo replied, "Have you looked at the seal? The basic structure and rules of Fuinjutsu have been shifted. The mechanism for logic linking is entirely different from the traditional seals. and I don't even understand many of the symbols and scripts of the seal."

He waited and then said, "He must be in touch with a Uzumaki survivor. Such a seal can only come from someone who has been working on new structuring techniques for Fuinjutsu for at least a century, or he found an ancient treasure containing an insight scroll." 

Danzo said, "We must interrogate him and get to the bottom of this. If he is in touch with an old grandmaster, we must find his source, and if he has found a treasure, we must confiscate it. 

Hiruzen retorted, "You want me to interrogate a valuable contributor to this village, a free citizen who has greatly shared knowledge, based on your unsubstantiated allegation."

Hiruzen added, "How are you going to defend the allegations against you then? If all it takes is an allegation."

Danzo declared, "We must do it for the sake of the village."

Hiruzen said, "For the sake of the village, you should let the man keep what rightfully belongs to him."

He added, "Even if what you say is true and he is in touch with an Uzumaki survivor, as long as he reports the seal back to us and even if he keeps the insight with him, I have no problem with it. And if it's a treasure he found somewhere, even then it rightfully belongs to him."

He looked at Danzo and said, "And before you have any funny ideas, he is under the protection of my ANBU."

"But you should at least get insight into this seal from him," Danzo said. "It will push forward the development into new fuinjutsu in the village."

Hiruzen replied, "What makes you think it's already not progressing?"

Then he added, "Like I said, you should let the man keep what rightfully belongs to him. If you don't have anything other than to exploit free citizens, you may leave."

Danzo replied, "Hiruzen, you are missing the big picture."

Hiruzen scowled and said, "Your earlier big picture almost condemned a small child and many more to the grave just so your organisation can have easy access to new recruits. But look at what's happening now.That cure is changing the medical world as we speak."

Koharu and Homura, oblivious to the medical council incident, exchanged glances, leading them to speculate about Danzo's potential involvement in dubious activities. However, they were taken aback by Hiruzen's change in approach, as he was no longer tolerating Danzo's behaviour and was confronting him.

They were also shocked to learn that Hiruzen had assigned his ANBU to protect Dan Hamura, which confirmed that Dan possessed something of importance. They looked at their own security guards, and they understood the hidden message to look into the matter. 

Although they did not lead large-scale armies like the other two elders, Koharu and Homura had their own independent force, fully sanctioned by the Daimyo.

Upon recognising Hiruzen's unwavering commitment to safeguard Dan Hamura, Danzo departed the premises, casting wary glances at each of the elders.

Koharu and Homura, the other two elders, enquired about the recent events between you and Danzo.

Hiruzen told them, "Danzo tried to jeopardise revolutionary medicine discovered by Yuki Sarutobi to keep maintaining his hold over the orphanage."

Hiruzen smiled and said, "Good thing I intervened. That medicine has saved so many lives already, and Danzo risked it all just for his personal gains and what he believes is greater good."

Hiruzen refrained from disclosing any information regarding Ryu or Dan Hamura, keeping their identities and involvement undisclosed. They had known each other for decades now, so they also realised that Hiruzen was keeping something from them. Respecting Hiruzen's reluctance to share, they refrained from pressing for details and chose to honour his silence before taking their leave.
