The Boy Who Never Was - A Harry Potter Fanfic

Chapter 1: Do I have issue? No, I got it figured out

My name is Sky Kingston.

Just to make it clear.

This was a name I gave myself.

Why not use my regular name?

I don't know what it is.

How could I not know my name?

Well that is easy enough to explain.

I don't know who I am or where I am from.

I tried to visit the Police station but according to them, they don't know either.

I went straight into the foster system afterwards.

They told me that since I did not know my own name, I could make one for myself.

So I did just that.

It took me forever to think of one.

I wanted a name that was both free and majestic.

I know. I am quite humble.

As soon as I did, they shipped me straight to an orphanage.

I obviously didn't know my own age so I set my own Birthday to the day I arrived at the transitional orphanage. (I researched and found out orphanages were considered defunct by the 1980's but for the sake of this story, I am just using it as a transitional facility.)

Wool's Orphanage was a shabby one. The building was dilapidated and run down.

They already had a lot of problem just making ends meet and I could tell a lot of shady dealings were taking place behind the scenes.

The caretaker didn't even care and just let the children do whatever they wanted.

If someone disappeared, they wouldn't take the time to report it.

The orphanage children were also very rough around the edges.

The older kids loved to bully the newcomers as well as the younger kids.

Screw that. I can survive on my own.

I have this secret technique that can guarantee it.

I can store things and take them out.

Nothing fancy mind you but I always knew how to make things disappear and reappear.

The best part was the fact that I can store anything and bring it out in the exact state it was stored as. (In other words, stored things would be put in stasis)

The first thing I did was fill the bathtub with hot water and store it.

I did this at least once a day.

The releasing is also neat because I can choose to release the water bits at a time and it would stay hot.

I did have to stop when the orphanage matron got really angry at us for wasting water.

Good news though, because the bill arrived monthly, I had a couple bathtubs full of hot water in my inventory.

During that same month, I also might have stored a variety of things without others noticing.

Lots of food, some money, a couple sets of bedsheets, winter blanket, a bedcot, all the excess frozen stored meat meant for the winter, a kitchen knife, a butterknife, portable heater, the toilet, the towels, the toiletries, the kitchen sink, Gas-powered Generator, 5 full canisters of petrol they keep in the basement, the bus....

Okay, obviously I got kicked out by now.

They obviously wanted to blame me but there was no evidence.

I mean, how could a kid steal the kitchen sink?

Am I a kleptomaniac at this point?

Yes. Yes I am.

Do I have a problem?

No, I got it figured out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The first thing I did as soon as I was kicked out was to go back to the police station.

I may have everything to shelter myself outside but I was NOT going to be caught dead using them right after having stolen them.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The officer had no choice after having talked with the Wool's Orphanage.

They absolutely refused to have me back there.

The officer was at a loss and had to send me to child's services to have me relocated.

Bad news, they couldn't find anyone at the current moment.

In the end, they took me into the impound station and placed me in a nice cell with the doors locked.

Honestly, I did not mind.

For once I got peace and quiet...

.............

............

............

Okay, its too quiet and I am starting to feel claustrophobic.

I looked out the cell door and looked around.

There was nobody.

I also checked out the large place around it and noticed that there were no camera's either.

.................

................

it is a bit cramped in here.

...............

..............

Hey look, a door!!

I've always wanted a door this size!!!

*proceeded to store the cell door*

hmmmmm...

maybe some more renovations.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Now this is an improvement!!"

I said out loud while looking around.

I decided to store the iron bars in front of the cell itself.

Now it was a nook.

I like nooks.

...I'm gonna go to bed.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"WHAT IN THE BLOODY HELL HAPPENED HERE?!"

I woke up to the constable screaming first thing in the morning.

I rubbed my eyes as I looked around.

"huh? Officer? why am I not in a cell?"

as drowsy as I was, I was already prepared the night before to remember what I did.

I was not giving myself away.

Self incrimination is a no-no.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3 hours in, I was finally placed in an actual foster home.

This place was a lot nicer.

As the child services pulled in, I came in front of a suburban home.

The house was a large, three-story, six-bedroom home in a cul-de-sac with a big back garden.

I don't know why I knew that. (Yes I do, I obviously googled it up you dumb klepto)

A couple came out to the front door with a small girl who looked about the same age as me.

She had bushy brown hair with slightly large front teeth.

Suddenly I was struck with a massive headache as I passed out in their front lawn.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I woke up in a bedroom that was obviously not my own.

I proceeded to get up slowly on my elbows and look around.

I noticed an IV in my arm that seemed to be dripping saline into my veins.

I want to say this was the hospital but I dashed that thought as soon as it came to me.

The place looked too nice and did not have that hospital smell.

Why do I know how a hospital smelled that way? (Because you've obviously been in one at one point or another)

Not sure myself. (But I am)

I recollected my mind as I sat up.

A lot of things hit me like a ton of brick.

The thoughts of Harry Potter and the seven books came to the forefront of my mind.

I was either in the Harry Potter books or I was in the past right before Emma Watson was cast as Hermione.

And the fact that I have magical like abilities was forcing me to believe in the first option while wishing for the second.

If its the first, this might be annoying.

If its the second, I have a lot of stock options to consider.

*knock knock knock*

I heard the door open slightly as the woman I saw before walked in with what looked to be a tray of sandwich's and tea.

I didn't have to feign surprise.

I was generally surprised already.

"Uhm, Hi. My name is Sky Kingston. May I ask where I am?"

She set the tray down gently next to my bedside.

"Of course, my name is Emma Granger. You passed out in front of our lawn as soon as you arrived so we brought you into our house and called the house doctor to do a check on you.

Her voice sounded gentle.

As if trying to make sure not to scare me.

I guess they warned her to approach me in this manner to make sure I don't get too overwhelmed by the new atmosphere.

"Thank you, I am assuming you are my new foster? What about child's services?"

She gave me a gentle smile as she sat by my bedside.

"Don't worry, we have it all figured out. We will make sure everything will be taken care off. For now, you should eat and have some more rest. We can discuss more tomorrow when you have a lot more energy."

*No name was given for the granger parents so I am going with the standard Dan and Emma*
