Chapter 2: Want to make a Bet?
The next morning was one headache after another.
I can't seem to remember everything but I distinctly remember dying.
I died.
That was fact.
I died in the hospital without anyone knowing better.
I don't know how I died or what caused me to be in the hospital in the first place.
I also remember all the Harry Potter books I used to read.
I loved those books a lot and read them cover to cover multiple times.
I remember having a brand new set that I custom bound.
Cost a pretty penny as well.
Although it was new, I distinctly remember keeping them sealed and reading my worn copy.
That feels a bit regretful.
If this is indeed the Harry Potter world, I need to plan accordingly.
We are currently pre-cannon.
I can't stay here.
Just then, an owl flew threw the window of the bedroom I was staying at.
Half a second later, I could hear screaming downstairs about a "bloody owl" in the house.
*chuckle*
Looks as if Hermione got her letter at the same time as well.
I quickly walk up to the owl on the window sill and gently took the letter.

So obviously, I accept.
I tore off the blank half of the parchment.
I mean seriously, think of the trees.
You could have written all of this on a single parchment in smaller font if you desired.
Was there really a reason to write this on 2 separate parchments?
I should give her a piece of my mind.

Dear Professor McGonagall,
Thank you for your acceptance letter, which I must say, was most impressive in both content and quantity. I couldn't help but notice that the entire letter could have easily fit onto a single piece of parchment—perhaps even with room for a quick "Save the Trees" note.
Nevertheless, I'm absolutely delighted to accept your offer to attend Hogwarts. As a Muggleborn, I'm eager to discover the wonders of magic. I'll be sure to conserve paper on my end, though I do hope your owl isn't overworked by all this parchment!
Looking forward to learning magic and saving the environment—one spell (and one tree) at a time.
Sincerely,
Tree Friendly Sky Kingston,
Muggleborn, Aspiring Wizard (and Eco-Friendly Student)
PS.
Did you notice that this parchment is the unused space from the acceptance letter?
*Save the Trees*

I then proceeded to roll up the parchment, tie it with the same string from the previous parchment, then hand it to the owl.
"Here you go."
The Owl grabbed the scroll and took off.
"Well, I am famished."
I wonder if they resolved the owl situation downstairs.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As I reached downstairs, I encountered an amusing sight.
The Owl was on top of the couch still clutching the letter.
Mrs. Granger had a broom in her hand while her husband had a putter.
Hermione was watching at the sight with both amusement and wonder.
I pulled out freshly made popcorn from my inventory and walked over to her.
"Hi, names Sky. Sky Kingston. Nice to meet you." I said while offering her popcorn.
She looked at me in surprise.
"Oh!, Your the new foster kid my parents accepted yesterday. Are you alright?" she said with evident worry.
I just shrugged my shoulders.
"Depends on what you mean by alright. If you mean my physical health, Im peachy. Mental health, work in progress but I think I got it figured out."
she looked at me in confusion and slight worry.
I nudged the popcorn towards her cause she had yet to take any yet.
She looked and grabbed some and noticed how warm it was.
"Its warm, but how? You haven't gone into the kitchen yet."
I shrugged my shoulder again and gave her a lopsided smile.
"Magic?"
She scoffed at my comment.
"There is no such thing as magic."
I looked at her with a slight grin.
"You want to bet?"
She looked me and back at the scene.
"and exactly how do you propose to prove this magic you speak of?"
she said without paying much attention.
"leave that to me and just accept the bet. If I win, you will owe me a single day hanging out with me."
she looked back at me with a little amusement.
"And what would I get out of this deal?"
I thought for a moment.
"If you win, I will spend a single day doing whatever you want."
......
"So what's the difference?" she responded with a deadpan.
I just placed both hands behind me back while tilting on my heals with a look of contemplation.
"mmh, I Benefit?"
"Are you asking or telling?"
I just shrugged my shoulder.
She looked contemplative at this.
"Okay. Deal." she said while looking away.
I think I saw a alight blush from the corner of my eyes as well.
I knew she probably didn't have many friends.
This was a great opportunity to get an in with the smartest of the golden trio.
..............
Doesn't hurt that she was easy on the eyes.
