Chapter 5: The Eye of Horus
---
Zoser woke up inside the cave to the faint sound of water droplets falling from the ceiling and a shy ray of sunlight peeking through the distant entrance. His body felt strangely heavy, yet he experienced a sense of comfort for the first time in days, as if he had managed to escape everything that had been chasing him.
Slowly, he looked around and saw Orion and Lina still sleeping beside him. He noticed the heavy breathing of Orion while Lina lay on her side, clutching her bag tightly as if guarding it from imaginary thieves.
Zoser decided to step outside the cave quietly for a moment of reflection. As soon as he stood up, he felt something odd in his left eye, as though it could see more than his right one. At first, he ignored it, but then a faint prickling sensation formed on his forehead, only to vanish suddenly.
He exited the cave slowly and found that the forest, which had seemed terrifying the night before, had transformed into a much warmer scene under the sunlight. He paused for a moment, enjoying a tranquility he was not used to, but Orion soon followed him. The signs of exhaustion were evident on Orion's face as he carried his small bag.
"You're up early..." Orion said, rubbing his eyes.
"I couldn't sleep any longer. This place... feels different," Zoser replied calmly.
Orion chuckled lightly and said, "Everything here is different, Zoser. You'll get used to it."
Lina joined them moments later, clutching her bag tightly as usual, and said coldly, "Are we moving now, or are we going to stand here all day?"
Orion ignored her typical tone and gestured towards Zoser. "Eat something before we set off."
Orion pulled some dry bread and biscuits from his bag and handed them to Zoser, who began eating hungrily. Meanwhile, Lina took out a chocolate bar from her bag and ate it alone without looking at Zoser.
"You're stingy as always, aren't you?" Orion said, smirking at Lina.
"He's not my problem. Give him your food if you're so concerned," Lina retorted sharply.
As Zoser ate, he felt that strange sensation in his left eye again. The light entering it seemed different, as though it left an imprint inside him. He placed his hand over his eye, feeling a faint surge of energy.
Noticing this, Orion asked with concern, "What's wrong?"
Zoser hesitated for a moment before saying, "I don't know. My left eye... it feels like it's absorbing light in a strange way. As if..."
"The Eye of Horus," Orion interrupted, astonished.
Lina turned to Zoser with interest for the first time since they met and asked, "Are you sure about this, Orion?"
Orion nodded firmly. "No doubt. It's clear. The Eye of Horus, but it's in its early stages. This eye isn't rare, but it's powerful, and its strength depends on the person who possesses it."
Zoser was silent for a moment before asking, "How do I use it?"
Orion smiled and said, "Not now. You need time to understand it and learn how to use it. For now, just pay attention to the energy you feel inside you. Listen to your body and soul, and you'll start to grasp it gradually."
Lina interrupted coldly, "It doesn't matter. We have a long way to go. If you're done eating, let's move."
The trio left the cave, sunlight falling on their faces. As soon as the light hit Zoser, he felt a faint prickling sensation in his left eye and immediately covered it with his hand.
"What's wrong now?" Orion asked with interest.
"My eye... the light feels stronger than I can handle. It feels like it's absorbing it in a strange way," Zoser explained.
Orion examined his left eye and said, "Don't worry. That's normal with the Eye of Horus. You'll get used to it soon."
"But why does it feel like it's increasing my energy?" Zoser asked.
Orion smiled and said, "Because that's its nature. The Eye of Horus gives you the ability to interact with the light and energy around you. The more you learn to control it, the more of its abilities you'll uncover."
The trio continued through the forest, with Zoser carrying countless questions about this mysterious eye and the secrets and power it might hold.
